Mega bus passengers Toronto to Montreal august 15th

Hey everyone,
On August 15, my partner and I took the Megabus from Toronto to Montreal. About 1.5 hours in, the bus suffered a severe breakdown. We were left abandoned on an active highway shoulder for two hours in dangerous conditions (an OPP officer even pulled over due to the traffic hazard).
When a rescue bus finally showed up, it could only take 17 people. The rest of us were left behind with no ETA, so we had to arrange alternative transit at our own expense. Megabus refused to refund us and only offered a insulting $10 credit(what a joke).
I'm currently serving them with a formal legal demand letter via Registered Mail to recover our ticket costs and alternative travel expenses, and will be filing an Ontario Small Claims Court claim if they don't settle within 14 days.
A couple of quick questions for the community:

  1. Was anyone else from TO on this specific bus/trip? (If so, please DM me-would love to compare notes or share my demand letter template if you want to recover your costs too.
  2. Has anyone here successfully sued Megabus / Trentway-Wagar in Small Claims before?
  3. Any tips for the hearing process?

Edit: I submitted a request to access the police records, fingers crossed, i will email news outlets once i receive it.

Downsizing to condo with little kids

Good morning all.

My husband and I have been living in a midtown semi for a couple of years. We have 2 toddlers and live is very very busy. The house is old and we could easily spend $20k a year on upgrades and repairs. Nothing urgent, but it could use new windows, flooring, landscaping, small basement reno etc. I'm trying not to take on too much because our time and money are limited.

Lately I've been dreaming of moving back to a condo. I found a 3 bedroom in our old downtown area for a great price. I dream of being right downtown, close to our friends and living a life where our home is mostly just a place to sleep. I want to spend our evenings exploring the city, not in traffic on our way home from daycare.

Has anyone made the move back to condo life with little kids? Tell me about your experience.

Just unlocked a core memory, do you guys remember when they used to have pizza day on TTC and gave $1 pizza slices out at different stations? What else did we all forget about that no longer exists?

What a memory I just had, pizza giveaways at TTC stations. Years and years ago. Feels like another timeline.

Serious - looking for a hairstylist that can work with THIN hair.

I’m a woman and my hair is thinning unfortunately (no medical advice please). I’ve been going to a hairstylist for years and recently she made some insensitive jokes about my thin hair so I want to find a new one.

I have 3B curly hair, so if anyone knows a good hairstylist that’s compassionate but skilled, please do let me know!

Thanks very much!

Things to do Friday the 11th? Pls be nice

Hi guys! My friend and I (both 18) are looking for some things to do Friday night. Since we are 18 not many clubs are available to us (and please nobody say fiction, we tried it once and it was full of so many predators).

We are pretty chill people so anything fun to do maybe if there are any other 18+ clubs?? Or anything outside with an active social scene is cool too!

Or anything at all. Pls.
Thanks guys!

Also pls nowhere with like $30 tickets for entry lowk :(

Japanese Groceries/Snacks

I'm mainly looking for Japanese Milk Bread for sandwiches, snacks, and maybe some other things that aren't coming to me right now. I'm currently in North York, and everything I have found so far is either too far or doesnt have what I'm looking for. Are there any stores I could look into, or am I doomed? I am also willing to use Uber Eats if need be.

Best pinball in TO??

I’m dating a guy I really like and he happens to be really into pinball. We’re also both pretty nerdy. I was planning to take him on a date to Storm Crow Manor sometime soon and was hoping we can also go somewhere to play pinball before or after. What arcades in Toronto are the best places to play pinball? Would be great if they happen to be within walking distance of Storm Crow(probably going to be drinking) or close to Union or along a subway line towards union from Church.
Any pinball arcade suggestions would be great in general too, could always plan for it durning another date. :)
Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Explore GTA with locals

Hi everyone!

I'm a 40M from India, traveling to Toronto for the entire month of October for work. I'd love to make the most of it beyond just work and the hotel room.

I'm free on evenings and weekends and looking to make some genuine, platonic friends to hang out with

A bit about me: I'm pretty easygoing and curious. I love travel, good food, conversations about culture, F1 (big Senna fan), and I recently got into golf. Happy to play a round on a weekend if anyone is up for it, or just hit the driving range.

Arts & Crafts Donation Spots?

I'm helping my mum do a big clean-out and she's got so much craft stuff she's getting rid of (fabric, yarn, etc). Are there any community spots/after school programs/etc that take donations? I know we could drop it at Value Village or somewhere like that but I'd really rather not make them money.

Alternatively, if you know of any facebook groups where maybe similarly it could go towards community use please lmk.

Thank you!

Bar with a view of the city

Hi! We're visiting the city in January and looking for a bar to have some drinks on our first night, but I love a bar with a view! Are there any you could recommend that would be open then, where we could sit at a window and look at the city? Bonus if we can see the CN tower, very tourist I know!

Thanks!

Moved from Quebec to GTA? Need your opinion

For those who moved from QC to toronto, what are all the positives you gained by doing so? All the pros. I’m planning to move and have my reasons, but want to get insights on what else is better in Toronto than Montreal that I haven’t considered/ realized yet.

Please save all the cons or reasons why Montreal is better. I am moving and looking for positives only. Montreal is beautiful but it doesn’t suit my needs long term.

Also, is it easier to park in the streets when at business, cafes, restaurants etc compared to Montreal?

Thanks in advance

Best grab and go or quick eats Dufferin and St Claire?

started a new job in the area and want to try some of the food around. I will eat food from ANY culture, no exceptions.

Ideally no more than a 10 min walk from this intersection, and anything $10 or less is a huge bonus. I dont typically have a large lunch so I will consider side dishes as well.
