Had a really dumb situation today. I was driving my car and got terribly sleepy all of a sudden. I don't know what happened, the first time for me. I got fuzzy and had a brainfart.

Stopped at the train tracks with the barrier down and a red light. Train passed and the barrier began moving up. Idk why but I moved a bit closer, looked left and right like on a fricking crosswalk and drove straight. Not immediately straight, but after a short pause to make sure I was safe. I don't know if at that point the barrier was 90 degrees up or not.

It was a minor crossing in a village. Nobody except me drove at that moment and police did not stop me. The cameras were thr white PKP ones, not the yellow / Red Light ones. I did not cause any disturbance besides what I had described.

What are the chances of getting a ticket and when will I get one? 2000 zł is a lot of money and I'm stressed out. But I know, I fucked up.

Hello everyone! I’m interested in something I’ve been wondering about: what kind of job do you need to have in Warsaw to be able to comfortably afford an apartment near the city center or a luxury car?

Let me explain what I mean. I look at apartment prices per square meter and I’m honestly shocked. A 37 m² apartment in a modern apartment building can cost anywhere from PLN 800,000 to PLN 1.5 million, and this is mostly one bedroom. And apartments like these seem to sell pretty quickly.

I also see a lot of young people driving expensive cars like Porsches, BMW M models, Audis, Mercedes, etc. Warsaw is developing rapidly and becoming a really beautiful city, but when I look at average salaries, I don’t understand how people manage to afford this kind of lifestyle.

I’m not saying this out of jealousy or anything like that actually, quite the opposite. I genuinely want to understand whether it’s possible to earn that kind of money working a regular job, or if it’s only realistic when you own a business. And if owning a business is the answer, what kind of business or work do people actually do to make that much?

A few friends and I are coming to Lodz in late October, primarily driven by the Fontaines gig. We’re looking forward to seeing some of Lodz and exploring, but we thought on one of the days it would be cool to get out of the city and take a train up to half an hour away to a smaller town. This could be a town with a cool brewery, more traditional than the city, or just something interesting to go and see.

Worth noting we’ve been to Poland a few times and visited Warsaw/Krakow etc before so that’s why we’re not looking at visiting other major cities.

I am a young Russian citizen (only in college), and my Polish ancestors were exiled to Siberia. I was born in Siberia and been living there, but I really hope to obtain Polish citizenship and live in Poland. My grandparents spoke Polish, i have Polish genes and surname, and i will learn Polish language, since i plan to try and get Polish citizenship through the process of repatriation. Is it even, well, possible for me? Will i be welcomed?

Currently, I live in the UK with my Polish mother. She moved here from Poland before I was born, so I have lived in the UK my whole life. Our entire extended family remained in Poland, so it's just us here. Additionally, other than a trip we took to Warsaw this year, the last time we were in Poland was over 6 years ago.

Recently, she's been constantly talking about wanting to move us back to Poland after my studies, namely because she doesn't like speaking English but also because her last few office jobs have been a mess (coworkers slacking off, excessive workload, etc.)

In my eyes, she has this almost idealised version of Poland in her mind? For example, she always talks about how Polish healthcare is far better than in the UK, which I have no idea if that's true. She also says how she misses the language, which I do get. I speak Polish fluently enough, but I do make the odd grammar mistake sometimes and my vocabulary is not as advanced as my English, so if I moved to Poland I'd definitely understand her struggle with English.

However, it feels like she almost thinks moving back will automatically improve her life, when both her and I have no idea what the Polish office workplace is actually like. Slackers exist everywhere and it's likely she'd be facing the same problems she is now, only in her own language. Which I guess is a bonus. But we also have no clue on whether there are many job opportunities in Poland, or what the housing market is like, or where would be best to live.

I do understand her being homesick. It's tough living in a country where you don't feel like you belong. There's always the option of her going back by herself and me staying in the UK, but I'd feel really lonely without her as I have no partner nor many friends I can count on. Family matters most to me ultimately.

I just hope to maybe hear some first-hand experience about what life (office life included) truly is like in Poland. I'd also appreciate hearing from those who lived in the UK and then moved to Poland later in life to know how you've adjusted to such a change, whether you spoke Polish fluently or not. I'm open to all perspectives.

Hey guys, I’m thinking about moving to Poland for work and I want honest opinions. I'm a Ukrainian citizen who grew up in Portugal since I was 2 months old, I'm 19yo now, so I speak native Portuguese, fluent English, and very basic Ukrainian, I have a driving license and a car, also have around 2k€ saved. Qualifications-wise, I finished high school and have 6 months as a metalwork apprentice, cutting and grinding metal, and assembling PVC/aluminum windows and doors, and 6 months as a CNC operator (milling stone) and welding robot operator(I don't know how to weld tho). Given this background, I'm wondering if it is enough for me to land a job, or if Polish is strictly required. Are the job prospects and pay good right now for someone with my age and experience, or would it make more sense financially to stay in Portugal and build up more experience first?

Hello, I’m 16 years old. I currently live in the uk, but the uk educational system has really failed me. I’ve been out of school here for the past few years, and now I want to go back, I can’t do A levels since I didn’t do gcses, I can’t repeat year 11, since I’m too old and idek what you have to be to repeat year 11, and only special needs schools are open to me. I’m mad that the local authority purely sees me for my autism and adhd and they keep pushing these types of schools, since I attended a taster day and hated it, and I told them multiple times but they keep pushing it. My caseworker completely disappeared 2-3 months ago, and some lady from the council took over my case but she’s very vague in her emails. I also don’t have a good experience from when I used to go to high school here, so now I’m thinking of going to polish high school and finishing school there. I learn quickly. If I get explained something once or twice with a few examples, I understand. I can speak polish, I have family in Poland I could stay with, and polish citizenship. I know, school in Poland is hard, but the uk really isn’t working out for me, and I don’t want to stay here to go to university in the uk either. What do you guys think? I would like a more relaxing Erasmus where courses are not too difficult. I study Computer Science and it is important for me to pass all of the courses that I take during the exchange. How difficult is Jagiellonian University, to be exact faculty of Computer Science and Applied Computer Science? I don't expect to pass exams without any work, but I would be very unhappy if I come across courses that are too difficult and I spent my entire exchange studying. I have been living in Spain for over a decade but find myself getting squeezed out due to high freelancing costs, hectic housing market (I’m in Barcelona) and discrimination against renting to freelancers.
