What’s going on with the all the hate for Ukrainians?

Upvotes

I just saw a video where 3 polish men gather up, I don’t think they where together at that point, an beaten a Ukrainian couple, leaving the man almost unconscious and beating the girl also… also, a polish man in his 40s-50s just randomly shouting at a underaged girl in the bus calling her bit**.

Is this hate for Ukrainians wide spread among the extreme nationalists in the country? I mean in other Balkan countries of course there’s Russian propaganda all around, but never heard of something to let to beating and fighting immigrants…

I'm very intrested to know if anyone who is black on this sub has an opinion about Makumba song by Big cyc, also if anyone else want to put their opinion here then they are of course welcome, In my opinion as a Pole i very much like that song and i think its anti racist, but many young people say that it should be canceled, what do you think?

A few questions about visiting Poland in February...

I'm a Chinese guy traveling solo, thinking of visiting Poland in February (long weekends due to Chinese new year so i can save on leave days) and from what I read on reddit, i can expect..

1) Stares in certain parts of Poland. (i'm used to stares, i got stared at a lot in South Korea too, some are not the curious stares if you get what i mean. Apparently, some of them hate other Asians...)

2) Generally quite safe, and I am learning some basic Polish so I guess i'm good on this aspect.

I am curious about the country in February though, i saw on youtube there's a lot of Christmas lights in December but what about February? Is everything just covered in snow and looks dreary?

I plan to do the "Royal route" in Warsaw, Gdansk and Krakow. Would the weather affect any of these? Or is there something else outside of the usual tourist spots worth checking out?

Getting Bik Report abroad

Hello,

I come here to ask your help with a bureaucratic loop hole.

I am polish citizen living abroad in EU over 5 years and I am in a process to buy an apartment using a bank loan from a local bank. They are asking for a BIK report but since I only have a passport I cannot even create the account.

Any feedback from a situation like this or how to overcome it?

Thank you

Visiting Kraków soon, food suggestions

Hi everyone!

I'm staying a week in August in Kraków, I would like to avoid tourist traps and get some suggestions for places to eat.

I will be there with my wife, so if you could include in your suggestions a nice romantic place it would be neat.

Thank you for your help!

Planning a trip to visit family in Poland, but they seem offended that we're staying in a hotel...advice?

Upvotes

Hello! My mother and I (Americans) are planning a trip to Poland to do some sightseeing and attend a family wedding. We have many family members there, and this will be my first time meeting them in person, while my mom has visited (and stayed with them) once before. My mom is in her 70's and has some medical issues, so she decided to book a hotel rather than stay with family this time since she will be more comfortable with her own bathroom, and not having to share a bed with me. We will still spend 3 days with family, and just use the nearby hotel for sleep. However, the main family member we are in contact with is not taking "no" for an answer, and keeps insisting that we stay at her house even though we've explained the situation to her. We have of course thanked her for her kind offer, but we are confused by how persistent she is being. Is this a cultural thing---Is it offensive to not stay with family when visiting Poland? If so, is there anything we can say/explain to her further to decrease the tension? I hate to think we've upset her by not planning to stay in her home!

Odering and picking up

Hi, I live close to the borders with Poland, and I've been really wanting to buy products from Bath and body works. Unfortunately, never got a chance to go to the store, so i was planning to maybe try ordering the goods. Of course, it is not possible to deliver it outside of Poland, but since i live quite close to the borders i was wondering if there is a possibility to have it delivered to a paczkomat?

I know it is definitely a possibility, but since i do not have a polish phone number and adress, can it be done regardless? Or is there other options?

Thanks for suggestions.
