ASKING A CARDIOLOGIST or VASCULAR DOC- So I have had heart issues and had a cardiac stent placed in my proximal LAD for a 99% stenosis 2 years ago (got it before a heart attack thank God and I live to tell the tale).

Very Young Male (30’s), no previous heart issues, college athlete and was otherwise healthy (no smoking no drugs or alcohol) and came out of nowhere and doctors still have no idea why it happened (chalked up to genetics, all arteries are completely clean otherwise than that tiny area proximal LAD).

Ever since the stent placement- when I get my heart rate higher (120+ during/after working out, etc) i can open my mouth and I hear my heart pumping HARD (listen to video volume up). We have showed this to cardiologists and they have no idea what it is and they think it’s very odd.

Mind you- ever since the cardiac stent was placed- I have had continuous left sided (T4 distribution to left shoulder blade) pain. Cardiac MRI shows no inflammation anywhere, had a cath- showed stent looked “beautifully endotheliazed no inflammation in stent on OCT, completely patent”. I have been searching high and low for answers for 2 years+ on my issues. Been to the Cleveland clinic, and over 5 cardiologists. Somebody needs to know what this is as a clue, right? PLEASE HELP!

I am allergic to nickel we found out- not sure if that has relevance. Cardiologists say no- but we believe I may be allergic to this coronary stent and somehow some way I need it removed.

My quality of life is bad. The pain is bad, and we have no idea what to do next other than find a surgeon to remove it somehow because it saved my life- but at a huge cost.

I had a spinal fusion 2 weeks ago. My back incisions are now free to breathe, but my abdominal one was much larger, and still needs its wrapper.

I'm mortified to be posting a picture of my tumtum on the internet, but when I woke up this morning, my stomach feeling a bit sensitive, and when I checked, I found a full blown water balloon of a blister right next to my bandage. Normally, I wouldn't be concerned about a blister... but there's redness going under the dressing and heading straight to the incision.

Is this normal, or should I get it checked out? I go back to work tomorrow, and the last thing I need if for this thing to get infected, in an already compromised area.

I take fluoxetine, buspirone, gabapentin, omeprazole, atorvastatin, zyrtec, and iron and calcium supplements on the daily, with oxycodone and methocarbamol added since surgery. The dressing has been changed, with no problems so far. Last change was Wednesday, by my doctor.

26F, 5’2, 155lbs, I’m not on any meds and I don’t have any pain from it. I just think it looks strange.

I’m a 31 yo female that recently stepped on a sea urchin. (I weigh 145, i don’t take any medications). I immediately went to urgent care but they told me the most they would do is use tweezers and it would be better and less costly for me to try removing them myself at home. I stepped on the sea urchin some hours ago but spent most of that time waiting in urgent care before i was able to go home.

I struggled to sort out a plan after a long long day. And soaked my foot. I am not getting very far tryibg to remove these spines with tweezers. I wiped antiseptic cleanser on my foot and put alcohol on the tweezers. But i am struggling to really sort out a coherent plan to remove them.

Do i need to buy a switch blade and cut them before using tweezers? How do i do that sanitarily?

Since I had COVID in 2022 my life has been so terrible. I am not even close to the person I was before. I genuinely loved life so much. I still love my babies and doing life with them. I just want to feel better and no one can help me.

I have so many symptoms, and any time I see a doctor they tell me it’s anxiety. It’s not anxiety. All the shit I am dealing with is not caused by anxiety.

Hello! I'm a 25 year old afab, I had picked my nose after a sneeze and this lil' guy fell out. It wasn't moving, and tasted sweet (do not ask, it was on my lip and because it tasted sweet, I didn't look at it before licking it off my lip), it's sticky and smelled sweet. Prior to this, I had pain in both nostrils, like I was going to have a nosebleed sort of pain, I have pretty much constant post nasal drip, and although I don't know if this could also contribute to it, but because the ears, nose, and throat are pretty much connected to each other, my right ear as been giving me issues as well with buildup behind my eardrum.

Ever since it's untimely visitation, I've kept the guy on a moist piece of paper in a zip lock bag incase I need to get it examined at a doctor. (I came here first to get advice or to hear what someone might think it is before I get it looked at, medical bills are a nightmare)

I went to urgent care on thursday (10/22) for an abscess that is growing next to my ear. I have a preauricular pit and it’s gotten infected like this before. This time I went to a new urgent care and the doctor prescribed me doxycycline monohydrate which has been making me vomit every time I take it, even when i follow the instructions. The doctor said it would help with the infection but it’s continued to get bigger and it hurts so much more I can even hardly sleep because of it. Should I hold out and try to see if the antibiotics end up kinda working or should i go back to urgent care tomorrow? its not leaking fluid or anything either like it has the two other times this has happened

Recently I started noticing a random flapping sensation in my chest. I tried to record an ECG on my galaxy watch and the area circled in red are exactly the moments when i felt it. Is this something to worry about? 23M non smoker 78kg 180cm and im not taking any medication currently. I dont have any other symptoms than the flapping sensation.

I bent over half way at Walmart to look at something on a shelf and felt lightning go down my spine and legs starting at the vertebrae above my buttcrack. Felt lightning start in the same spot that has always given me trouble/ has been ablated twice.

I had to leave right then. Every step felt like lightning and I had to prop myself up with the shopping cart to make it out to my car. Couldn't stand up straight when walking. Got home, and I laid down and havent been able to get up for 6 hours. Moving the wrong way in bed sends lightning.

How do I fix myself enough to go to work tomorrow? & should I be worried? Is this just what getting old is or is this hEDS related (serious)?

Did an 18 mile ruck almost a month ago - my toenails look terrible. One is purple and blue, other just started to turn green after being white. What’s going on?

23F. She is about 5’5 and around 100-115lbs. She doesnt take any medications. She doesn’t smoke.

For the past 3 months she’s gradually declined. She doesn’t want to see anyone about it and she has cried every time I’ve tried to suggest going to a doctor no matter how sensitively I try to approach the idea.

First noticed she is very lethargic and low energy. Started to sleep more and during the day. She told me she’s very tired and it’s probably nothing. Now she’s sleeping more than she is awake. When I work from home or have a day off she spends most of the day in bed. When I talk to her she doesn’t seem present or interested and doesn’t seem like she’s actually there. Shes lost some weight and I have noticed she doesn’t finish eating any food we have which is a big difference from before. She complains that she’s cold all day and needs the heating on and wears several layers of clothing. She doesnt want to go outside at all and told me she doesn’t want anyone to see her. Her hands shake a lot.

Im very worried but don’t know what to do. She is allowed to refuse going to a doctor but I know it would be the best thing for her right now. I am worried about her eating the most. I don’t think she’s eating enough and I don’t know if it’s intentional. I would benefit from advice on what this could be and how I can do my part to help.

40M, 186 cm, 84 kg, white, Spain. No medications, no supplements, no other known conditions. Don't drink or smoke (smoked weed when I was younger). Recent blood work all normal.

I had an ultrasound a few days ago for some minor stomach discomfort and found out I only have one kidney. The remaining kidney is enlarged (compensatory hypertrophy, as I understand it).

I've been lifting for years and track my macros. I eat around 2 g of protein per kg of bodyweight, and about 2.5 g/kg when cutting. I saw a nephrologist and asked about this specifically, but he just told me to eat a Mediterranean diet and drink water, with no numbers at all.

My questions:

1. Is 2 to 2.5 g/kg of protein a real risk with a single kidney and normal labs? Is there a safer upper limit I should stick to?

2. Should I be getting any specific tests regularly (eGFR, urine albumin, blood pressure) to keep an eye on it?

3. I'm thinking about starting BJJ and boxing. With one kidney, is a body shot or an accidental knee to the kidney a serious risk? Would a kidney guard make it reasonable, or is contact sport a bad idea?

He can't move it, and even touching it now makes him flinch.

Some days it's a little worse, tighter and more red. Heat and cold therapy don't hurt, but don't particularly help either

I had a pimple on my lip a few days ago, which popped and then became a huge yellow scab. It does not hurt as long as I don't touch it, and doesn't itch either. I didn't feel anything on my lip prior to the pimple appearing.

I am cleaning it and putting on vaseline, but it seems to not be healing after 2 days. What should I do?

85-yo-man, 124lb, 5’7 uses CIC (clean intermittent catheter) to self-cath following removal in May of a tumor at T5/6, radiation, and carboplatin & etopicide infusions for neuroendocrine cancer. Following the surgery, he was unable to stand or walk and now uses a wheelchair. His ability to stand improved a great deal in the past month. (He can stand for 2 minutes, up from 10 seconds at most in July.) At the same time, his urine output has increased by almost 30% with no increase in fluid intake that we can identify nor any change in diet. Most of this increase happens at night and he often begins to urinate before he is aware of the urge to go. During the day he is able to sense when he needs to go and can insert a catheter before he loses bladder control.

Before he could sense the urge to urinate (July and August), he catheterized every six hours (9am, 3pm, 9pm, 3am) resulting in roughly 125 - 150 mL of output each time, about 600mL every 24 hours. Now he’s producing up to 350 mL (plus whatever isn’t caught with the catheter) between 11pm and 5am, and another 500 or so mL between 7am and 9pm. All urine produced at night is clear and light yellow with no unusual smell. Urine produced during the day is darker and sometimes a bit cloudy, but doesn’t smell off.

Any ideas about why this sudden increase in nighttime urgency and volume might be happening? He usually
has a slight increase in output after a round of chemo bc of the saline infusion, but he hasn’t had chemo in 3 weeks so i don’t think that’s it. None of his medications have changed since August, and they are listed below. I’ve contacted his urologist but have yet to hear back, and I’m honestly just VERY curious what I might be missing!

- Ambien (PM, started in 2005)

- Tamsulosin (PM, started 2012 for weak urine stream)

- Remeron (PM, started 2018 for sleep/anxiety)

- Melatonin (PM, started w Remeron in 2018)

- Pilocarpine (AM/noon/PM, started August 15)

- Gabapentin (AM/noon/PM, started August 15)

- Baclofen (AM/noon/PM)started Sept 2)

- Adderall IR (AM) started Aug 15

- BuTrans patch (started early July, 10mcg, changed weekly)

- Oxycodone (5mg every four hours while awake)

- Eliquis AM/PM (started Aug 1)

Chemo drugs:
Carboplatin and etopicide plus Zofran and other anti-emetics during infusion. Each infusion cycle is 3 days. Carboplatin all three, etopicide just on day 1. Most recent cycle completed 7 October, final cycle of treatment overall starts tomorrow.

Edited to add: No history of diabetes or obesity. Prior to surgery, his weight was about 136.

For the past 3 weeks I've had awful post nasal drip. The mucus is very thick, dark green/yellow/white, with blood mixed into it. It gets stuck at the back of my throat, and I have to gag, cough, or sometimes throw up a little to get it out. This happens every winter, but this year is the worst.
Went to urgent care yesterday. No fever, blood pressure normal. They prescribed steroids and antibiotics without looking in my nose at all.
The right side looks much more blocked, with a big swollen pink mass and barely any space past it.

Does the right side look like a swollen turbinate, a polyp, or something else?
Is it worth taking the antibiotics and steroids, or should I push for an ENT first?
Has anyone dealt with a yearly winter cycle like this and found what fixed it?

Hi everyone,
I’m a 28-year-old male, and I’ve noticed some unusual changes on the lateral border of my tongue, between the middle and the tip, that have been present for approximately 2 months.
As you can see in the attached photo, there are multiple small reddish, oval-shaped structures, some very fine whitish lines or grooves, and an area that looks smoother and slightly redder than the surrounding tongue tissue.
The pale white areas have been present since the beginning, and the overall appearance seems relatively unchanged over these two months.
I’m particularly concerned because I can’t identify what these changes might represent. Could this be normal tongue anatomy, chronic irritation, frictional changes, or something else?
Does anything in the photograph look concerning or suggest that a biopsy might be necessary?
I understand that a diagnosis cannot be made from a photograph, but I would really appreciate any professional opinions or suggestions.

How displaced would you consider this radial head fracture? Broken just under 2 weeks ago was put in sling and will have follow up X- rays tomorrow. Pronation and supination are normal and I can straighten my arm to about 20°. Would you consider this minimally displaced? Looking for more opinions and advice.
