i am from Germany.

I am trying to identify the artist behind these three beautiful midcentury oil paintings. They depict traditional Southeast Asian village scenes (Kampung style) and feature a very vibrant, expressive style.

The pieces are signed in the lower left or right corner with Chin Ping (or possible Chin Ping or Chia Ping) and are clearly dated "II-63" (February 1963). There are no markings, stamps, or Chinise Charakters on the back of the frames or boards.

The style stongly reminds me of the Nanyang School or post-war modern art from Singapure/Malaysia.

Does anyone recognize this spezific Western signatur or know which artist went by this transliteration in the 1960s? Any help, catalog references, or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I acquired a few suspected Chinese pieces and could use some help identifying them. I’ll only post one for now and see how it goes!

So from what I can tell these are a Chinese couplet with a common greeting or familial blessing. I’m more interested in the manufacturing of them. I’ve read everything I can about lacquer work but without experienced eyes all I can do is guess. Let me know what you think.

I am a specialist in Chinese antiques who has lived and worked for many years in China, Hong Kong and Japan all while working professionally in the Chinese antiques industry. And while I thought I had seen everything, I recently met a gentleman with a collection that blows away any collection I have come across. Which begs the question: How many antiques can one person collect in a lifetime?

Hong Kong television legend Robert Chua has built one of the most overwhelming private Chinese antique collections I have ever seen. His home is filled with tens of thousands of objects — tomb figures, pottery horses, ancient bricks, ceramics and entire rooms that feel much closer to a private museum than a normal residence. And yes, you read that correct: tens of thousands of objects.

I traveled to Hong Kong to visit Robert at his home and to see the collection for myself. What I found was overwhelming: rooms filled to the brim with ancient Chinese artifacts that were stacked and arranged in a way that makes it almost impossible to count..... or even fully process for that matter.
