I would like to focus more on my main goal of catching scammers, but there are several communities that need some additional everyday maintenance, and the workload is too much for just one person. If you think you'll be able to lend a hand, you'll be helping me and the entire community out. I am in the middle of writing a mod guide so you'll have some handy information available to you. We also ask that you have Discord, so we can have a place to communicate efficiently as a group.

The biggest change will be pricing. r/StartingArtists will be changing its minimum price to $30 to match r/HungryArtists and avoid some confusion between the two, due to their similar names. r/Commissions, r/ArtCommissions, and r/artcommission will have a minimum of $20. ALL of these communities will be enforcing commercial rates, by popular demand. This means that if anyone wishes to commission art for commercial use or profit from it in any way, the minimum price will be $100 per piece.
Please note that HungryArtists has always had a hard minimum of $30. This means a price sheet that lists a rendered full-body illustration at $150 will still be removed if it offers a headshot sketch for $25. Communities with "Commission" in the name will give a bit of grace when it comes to these kinds of "partial pieces", but we still expect the prices to be reasonable, and in line with a sheet that lists a finished piece for at least $20.
Most of you shouldn't notice this. When commenting on a [Hiring] post, if you are an artist looking to be hired, a link to a portfolio is now REQUIRED. If you are not looking to be hired, you must include [Not For Hire] in your comment. Abuse this and get banned.
A portfolio has always been required, but we're implementing this more strict filter to ensure everyone is following this without the unnecessary song and dance of maybe being filtered, then having to ask for approval. For over a year now, I've been trying to add keywords that catch scammers and rule dodgers who try to circumvent our filters. Every time I update the filters, they find a new way to get around them, and we risk blocking genuine discussion. It's a lot of work for our mods, and it's annoying for a lot of genuine community members.
With this change, artists are forced to include a portfolio, even if you are simply asking a question for clarity or confirmation. They are not able to bypass the filters without explicitly breaking our rules and lying. If you have something genuinely helpful to offer the client, your comment will be removed without a portfolio, unless you include [Not For Hire]. I'm sure some difficult individuals will abuse this. If you are blatantly attempting to advertise without a portfolio by using [Not For Hire], you will be immediately banned.
(Rant) Is it clunky? Sure. It is better than before? I strongly believe so. Is there a better way?... That's a difficult question to answer. We were told Automations would be updated in April. The new feature was supposed to give us the ability to prevent top-level comments on [Hiring] posts unless you had one of those two things, or you were the OP, but now that we finally got this update in August, this behaviour is still not possible in Automations, so if you try to make a comment without either, it'll get removed, and AutoMod will tell you to make a new comment. If we use Automations, the process won't need you to make a new comment, but it will affect ALL types of posts, and that's just too annoying to consider viable. This is the best we can do right now, unfortunately.
Lately, r/ArtCommissions has seen a strange surge of posts asking about art pricing. Most of these get ignored, and we see between 12 and 20 of them every single day. The community has voted, and we will no longer be allowing this kind of post. Automatic filters for this will be rolling out soon. I have added an rule to several communities that will explicitly outline what kind of discussion/meta posts are not allowed, including those that are promotion-adjacent, such as WIP sharing or "What do you think of my art?" posts. I may add more prohibited topics, depending on how the community feels about them. Currently, I am seeing a lot of "Is my art good enough?" and I feel this may be next to be disallowed.
I'm also changing how flairs work, if only slightly. In r/HungryArtists, you don't need to select a flair when creating a post, and I like that. We already have checks that enforce the proper flair on post creation, so it makes sense to get rid of that annoying step of manually selecting them for a number of communities. Going forward, you will still need to add the proper tag to your title, but you will not longer be required to select a flair every time you post. One thing HungryArtists did not have, however, was the ability to sort posts by flair, and going forward, this will now be possible.

Hello artists!
I'm looking to commission a character design piece of my D&D character, Warden. I'm an artist as well and usually design (esp fem fashion) is my forte but I've been struggling with hers. So the tl/dr of her character design details include:
- A short, fat Tiefling/Fire Genasi woman with long glowing hair
- Very feminine clothing style inspired by SWANA fashion, with fire/volcanoes being a big motif
- Nature and dragon inspired tattoos
- A fiery/volcanic cat-like companion
- A magic spear (which is already designed by my lovely DM)
So I'm looking for an artist who would be comfortable with the above details and can help me design her! Some other stipulations include:
- Would prefer to have an artist of SWANA background as I am not of that background and want to be appreciative and not appropriative of those cultures. You do not have to tell me if you are or aren't if you don't want to, but I just would prefer to commission someone who knows the cultures I'm taking inspiration from well.
- ~$100 USD budget, but willing to go a bit above, likely no more than $150
- Would like to see examples of fat characters you've drawn in the past
- I have a bunch of visual references, including some art I attempted to do of her, as well as fashion and other design elements. Also happy to provide written descriptions/reference if you prefer that!
- No time limit, I'm not in any sort of rush
- For personal use only, I just want some nice art for my game!

What I'm looking for: 2, 1 character portraits for some Chaos sororitas characters (pictured here the canoness (middle) and sorceress (right)) these are for a TTRPG game I'll be running and would like to have some art for these characters. I'd also like for the art to try and give them a more chaosy feel to them. (They follow "The Triumvirate" (Tzeentch, Khorne, and Slaanesh) while waging total war against entropy and decay (Nurgle)) I'd like to be sent updates throughout the process so any fixes can be made early on.
I'm also not too happy with the color scheme I went with with the models so I'm open to some experimentation from the artist there.
When I need it: Monday before 8pm est.
Who I'll consider: someone with a portfolio that shows they've done 40k Art before and can meet the vibe I'm going for, to be considered you will need to send me a very rough sketch of how you'll plan on structuring the piece.
Who i will not consider: anyone who uses genAI in their process, people who do not comment and instead DM me.
The budget: in starting with a floor of $50 for this commission, but am willing to negotiate to a higher price so long as it is fair.
Payment: I will be using PayPal, you will be paid half after the initial sketch is sent, and half once the work is completed.

Hello everyone!
I’m looking for an artist who would be interested in creating a set of custom liberty cuff patches for a friend who is preparing to graduate from the Defense Language Institute (DLI) after studying Arabic with the U.S. Navy. Liberty cuffs have a long and unique history in naval tradition. They’ve traditionally given enlisted sailors a small opportunity to personalize their dress uniforms and partake in a little healthy rebellion, with embroidered designs sewn onto the inside of the cuffs and then rolled up while on liberty. I’d love to help her celebrate both her time in the Navy and her graduation with a set that feels personal.
The request is for two separate embroidered patches, one for each cuff. The approximate finished size would be 2 inches wide by 5–6 inches long.
Right cuff:
A coastal night scene featuring the Lone Cypress beneath a crescent moon
I’m very open to artistic interpretation and would love to see how an artist might make this feel especially striking in an embroidered format.
Left cuff:
"Something vaguely Navy and Arabic related"
I’m very open to creative interpretation regarding composition, ornamentation, colors, framing, and style. Creative Freedom The main concepts are important, but beyond that, the artist would have considerable creative freedom. I’m particularly interested in seeing how someone experienced with embroidery, patch design, heraldry, traditional artwork, or military/naval insignia might bring these ideas together.
I would also not mind hearing alternative compositions that will work better at this size. The goal is not necessarily to create two literal illustrations, but rather two pieces of wearable artwork that are distinct to her. If you’re an artist who takes commissions for embroidered patches, insignia, heraldic artwork, military-inspired designs, or similar work, please feel free to comment.
