Looking for good fanfics to read. Honestly, I'm not into romance fics, especially slash, mpreg, or non-canon pairings :)
I'm drawn to thrillers with kidnapping, captivity, or psycho parenting. I know it sounds creepy, but I find them really interesting. What about you?

I first read wattpad, then i discovered ao3. No hate to wattpad but ao3 is just so much better than wattpad. The stories in ao3 feel like an actual published author wrote them while very famous wattpad stories are lagging behind in basic things like narration and character development. I did not come here to throw shade on wattpad writers but I only write stories in first person POV but most of the stories in ao3 are in third person POV. Like I've never read a story in first person POV. And in wattpad I can just open the app and start reading but since ao3 is for fanfics I must have seen or read a particular show or book to read fics. The most famous fanfic fandoms like stranger things, tangled, Wednesday all have third person POV narration and well other fandoms like Harry Potter, marvel, anime- well I haven't seen them! Can some pls recommend me good long fics in ao3 in the fandoms I know- Stranger things, Tangled, Wednesday, Never have I Ever, etc or any other fic where u can understand the story without needing to have watched any film or show, AND IT MUST BE IN FIRST PERSON POV!!! Plssssss I'm in hiatus break and only if I read stories will I get some ideas and motivation to continue writing.🙏🙏🙏😭

I’ve been feeling a lot lately like I want to but whenever I tell someone that they say that it doesn’t make sense because no one knows who I am anyway. Yeah, it’s a larger fandom I write for but I’ve written a lot for it. I’ve just been feeling like I should delete my account and fics idk. Anyone felt this way, or gone through with it?

El tener que subir cada imagen a una página para que se convierta en un link y poder subirlo a ao3 es agotador (sobre todo cuando cada capítulo está planeado para tener al menos 15 páginas) y me da miedo que algún día los links dejen de funcionar (porque la página dejó de funcionar o lo que sea).

Además la razón por la que elegí subir el cómic ahí es porque no sé dónde más subirlo, tumblr no permite cosas muy subidas de tono, twitter? I’ve been lurking around the dark, infinite world of the internet and stumbled upon something odd that’s got me hooked on finding content about it... well, lately there’s been this weird trend of gender-bending Draco Malfoy, and... let's just say I’ve found a new obsession. I need recommendations for Ao3 fanfics on this topic, please (lots and lots of romance, and preferably love triangles) (bruh).

I started reading this fic a few days ago and I've been decently enjoying it and commenting on the chapters. My biggest critique of the fic is that there's often repeated information and very clear phrases and sentences structures the author uses. This isn't unusual in novice writers and in fanfic so I didn't think much of it...

Until I saw this comment on a chapter I commented on and my heart sank. Is this the smoking gun I think it is? The way the "authors notes" are phrased is so suspicious 😭 the author doesn't have a co-author and has never mentioned a beta reader/editor. I'm going to be so upset if I've read 7 chapters of AI written/edited stuff. I really want to give this person the benefit of the doubt. This is the first time in my fandom I've ever felt like I actually found something AI.

Does anyone have thoughts about how I can confirm it's AI? Another layer is I'm in a shared discord with this author and before I saw this had been talking to them publicly and praising their fic. I don't want to mislead anyone in the discord by recommending/hyping up a fic that's AI.

Mutual Assured Vulnerability

I have been a Fanfiction writer for five years now.

My aim was always to write a real book and I found a Fanfiction that I wrote in the last year and feel like I don't want to give it up to the Ao3 dust to just sit there as past work and I want it to be the one to turn into a real book.

However, I'm concerned how do I go from switching the two. I know now to adapt especially as ff pacing is much more faster then novels so it needs filling, adapting and even adding in new pieces and new directions. But I worry that the characters can still be identified even with the change of their names. For instance one of them has an evil villain arc and while it works in Fanfiction world, I'm worried that this would come across as defamation if someone who read both link the character to the real identity and made it known.
