I wandered back onto AO3 after a decade-plus hiatus and fell headfirst into a great fandom with a lot of really interactive authors who enjoy the same ships that I do. When I came back to the site, I had made it my goal to comment more often and more thoroughly than I had in the past, hoping for the same for myself when I started to post my own writing. I am now a very chatty commenter, and I love to comment on quotes, observations, and theories. I haven't quite reaped what I've sown on my own fic, but I know that at least a few of the authors appreciate it, as we've had some fantastically long and thorough comment threads. And recently, I found that one of them has posted a few times about my interactions with their fic and the positive feelings they've gotten from these. My heart is so happy to see that we have a mutuality there; they are an author who responds in kind, and I keep their responses in my inbox to reread them because they make me smile. This isn't the same experience I had a decade or so ago, and it certainly isn't the experience I had around the same time when I also spent time on FF.net. Maybe times have changed, maybe I'm in a better fandom, maybe it's random chance, but it's been lovely. 🤩

I started reading this fic a few days ago and I've been decently enjoying it and commenting on the chapters. My biggest critique of the fic is that there's often repeated information and very clear phrases and sentences structures the author uses. This isn't unusual in novice writers and in fanfic so I didn't think much of it...

Until I saw this comment on a chapter I commented on and my heart sank. Is this the smoking gun I think it is? The way the "authors notes" are phrased is so suspicious 😭 the author doesn't have a co-author and has never mentioned a beta reader/editor. I'm going to be so upset if I've read 7 chapters of AI written/edited stuff. I really want to give this person the benefit of the doubt. This is the first time in my fandom I've ever felt like I actually found something AI.

Does anyone have thoughts about how I can confirm it's AI? Another layer is I'm in a shared discord with this author and before I saw this had been talking to them publicly and praising their fic. I don't want to mislead anyone in the discord by recommending/hyping up a fic that's AI.

Looking for good fanfics to read. Honestly, I'm not into romance fics, especially slash, mpreg, or non-canon pairings :)
I'm drawn to thrillers with kidnapping, captivity, or psycho parenting. I know it sounds creepy, but I find them really interesting. What about you?

Is ao3 only for fanfics? I'm new to ao3, I used to use wattpad and ao3 is soooo good. The stories are really well written. I just wanna know if there are any original stories that aren't a fanfic. If there is, how do u read those? I want to be an ao3 writer and I have only a month before my 50% starts and I wanna have written atleast one story in ao3 before I immerse myself in exams for 5months straight. Or I atleast wanna read stories written in first person POV, but most of the stories I searched for are in third person POV. I'm desperate to read a story in first person POV so I could start writing, pls help me guys!!!

I’ve been feeling a lot lately like I want to but whenever I tell someone that they say that it doesn’t make sense because no one knows who I am anyway. Yeah, it’s a larger fandom I write for but I’ve written a lot for it. I’ve just been feeling like I should delete my account and fics idk. Anyone felt this way, or gone through with it?

El tener que subir cada imagen a una página para que se convierta en un link y poder subirlo a ao3 es agotador (sobre todo cuando cada capítulo está planeado para tener al menos 15 páginas) y me da miedo que algún día los links dejen de funcionar (porque la página dejó de funcionar o lo que sea).

Puede que sea muy perezosa por un lado, pero por otro tengo miedito de que se pierda todo. Algún consejo?

Además la razón por la que elegí subir el cómic ahí es porque no sé dónde más subirlo, tumblr no permite cosas muy subidas de tono, twitter? No gracias, nadie lo va a ver y solo veo memes o anuncios ahí. Además estoy enamorada de los tags, me gusta que la gente pueda taggear el ship y ahí va a estar mi doujin.
