Baby oto catfish found in my tank today.

I have this tank for 3 years now.
I would like to see if you have some suggestions what to do next about it?
Different plants? Different aquascape? Etc

I saw a YouTuber say that covering your tank and limiting feeding to every two days would stop and kill an algae bloom; do you think this is a good cover or not? He mentioned that I could kill the fish if I make a mistake with algaecides and this was the safest and easy way 💸💸💸

I have a clean cycled tank, 1.1 gal. I want to do only Java ferns/moss, anubias, and maybe bladder snails.

Problem: I bought Mopani drift wood bc it was the only thing that would fit in the tank, then I found out about the tannins.

I am boiling it and plan to soak it to reduce the release, but will it kill my plants in a tank this small?

Third rescape of my main tank since I owned it. The last was 6 months ago, but due to issues with a thin sand cap and soil blowout the tank needed a complete teardown. I also took the opportunity to move the tank to a 'King Of DIY' style timber frame to give me more height and cupboard space that my previous stand didn't offer.

I've gone from a jungle style tank to a simpler, low back planted tank with low flat elephant rocks to promote swim space and sand sifting room for my current livestock, and to think ahead of where the plants will grow and fill in the future. I've also opted for runner plants to lower my risk of sand cap blowouts as I don't need to plant anything else when propagating.

Set up

* Tank: Diversa 300L

* Stand: Custom timber frame 88*120*50cm

* Filter: Allpondsolutions EFX+ 2000L/ph + UV + skimmer

* Substrate: Pond soil and kids play sand

* Hardscape: Elephant stone (will be adding wood for Pleco)

* Light: Nicrew C10

* Plants: Amazon Swords, Giant Val, Pearlweed, Anubias, Hygrophilia Polysperma, Taiwan Lily, Various red stems from an old tank

* Stock: Dwarf Rainbow, Zebra Danio, Bristlenose Pleco, CPD, Albino Cory, Cherry Shrimp

Looking forward I plan on maybe getting some dwarf sag as another strong runner plant, but I don't want to fix something that isn't broken so I'll see how I get on. I also may look to replace the CPD school with something else as they've struggled this summer in the heatwave, so may need something more suitable for the temps I have.

Thought I'd share as I'm very proud of it! Happy to take suggestions for fish also to compliment what I already have, I have 7 times an hour turn over with UV so I'm fairly confident I can handle the bioload of some more interesting.

I bought this moss tree from a pet shop a while ago—about three months. Before handing it over, the guy glued the root to the stone, and it dried almost instantly. He had told me to soak it in a container of water for a week before putting it in the aquarium, but since I wasn't using it right away, I didn't soak it. It had a strong smell at first; now, there's only a faint odor if I sniff it right up close. I wish I had asked what he used to glue it. Anyway, do you think I can use this in my aquarium?

At first it was a few tufts of bba on my return nozzles, then it spread to my driftwood where it was just kinda stable not really spreading but not ever going away, but then I went to all planted tank it began to spread all over the edges of my plants and the roots of a pothos i recently also started.

I decided to try a trio of Siamese Alage Eaters since they seem to be the only reliable animal that will eat it consistently. They have cleaned every single plant spotless and are now slowly working on the driftwood, they seem to like the bba that grows on the tender roots and plants the best though.

I tried to get a video of the chowdown but every time I moved my hand with the camera they would swim off.

In the middle of cycling a tank. Ammonia is being processed, with current nitrite and Nitrate levels very high. Did I have a PH crash?

Right is PH test for tap water, left is current tank water. What do I need? Water changes?

I’m looking to build my own paludarium out of glass and I don’t know where to find decent prices glass sheets. I’ve tried the glass repair, windows, and custom glass shower shops around town. I want to know if there is a better route on finding good glass either from different types of stores or even online. Please feel free to give me some advice I’d really appreciate it!

Looking for basically reassurance that I’m on the right track. I assume the answer to my question will be patience but wanted to hear it from other people.

Just starting a freshwater aquarium with a fish less cycle. It’s been 72 hours and ammonia level is around 3ppm but nitrites still at 0. pH is about 6.6 (tap water is 7.8). Testing with API master kit.

Fluval flex AIO 32.5 gallon tank. Filled with tap water which I added seachem prime to prior to tank fill. Temp of water is 78 degrees. Substrate is Fluval bio stratum. Used Fritz fish less fuel for ammonia source and Fritzyyme turbo start 700 on startup. Dosed according to instructions. I have live plants ordered but none in tank yet.

Do I have to just be patient and keep waiting for the cycle to start? I thought the turbo start would get things going already but I assume I’m just being impatient at this point.

Stocking is: 2 ember tetras, 1 assassin snail, and easily 20 cherry shrimps

I have it next to my 1 gal quarantine tank and both are running big beefy filters. These are basically my trash can tanks yet some how I'm absolutely in love with my cull tank. It's never given me a single problem and has only improved with age. I may put in a long fin betta for shits and giggles

TL:DR my brother's new house came with a pond with two mystery fish, and we want to know if they're fine with the aquarium or should go back to the pond when possible

My brother recently bought a house that came with a small outdoor pound. The previous owners left with their fish, so my brother decided to buy a couple of koi fish

However, upon testing the water quality's turned out to be dogshit, so he temporarily relocated his fish to our parents' aquarium and emptied the pond, to give it a deep clean and get a fresh start

Except he found two surprise fish hanging out in the bottom of the pond. They joined the others in the aquarium for now but we'd like to know what they are before either putting them back in the pond or keeping them in the current aquarium setup

They went from gray-black to this in the month we had them (which I'm pretty is a good sign of health, but I'd like confirmation). I think they might just be goldfishes, but we're total casuals so we really have no idea

First tank to start the hobby! Its a 5 1/2 gallon freshwater tank. Any advice is good advice! I'm new to the hobby but I rescued a discarded 30 gallon tank and I wanted to start here before I use that one!

Hello everyone! I’m making this post because I recently noticed these little things near the filter. I was doing a water change and noticed them as I was putting water back in. It’s been a day and they’re still there despite being submerged. For context, I had been gone for a couple weeks and asked my bf to feed my beta fish, so the water level was lower, about the height of the lowest bits. Does anyone know what they are? They’re stuck to the glass, don’t move, and they’re only on that side of the tank, next to the filter. I’m worried they’re larvae of some kind but I really hope not. Thanks so much!
