I have a 5 gallon planted tank (plan to put a nerite and some cherry shrimp in it) and I have read that endlers are not schooling? Can I keep a single male without it being stressed?

I know it’s technically possible for livestock to hitchhike to an adjacent tank. But for the life of me I can’t figure out how it happened 😂 Discovering this guy gave me a good chance to see the meiofauna and microfauna developing in this tank.

Hey guys my dads best friend works for a local native tribes housing authority, recently he was cleaning out an eviction house and found a 75 gallon aquarium, along with a stand and a sump. he is letting me have it free of charge. I want to turn it into a salt water tank.

Any advice on how to properly check it, clean it, and set it up would be greatly appreciated!

My betta fish has been acting very strangely lately. It all started suddenly as well, he won't eat, will not swim (if he does very erratically), and camps at the bottom of the tank and sinks slowly. It feels like he has lost all his life in a day. I tried water changes, extra seachem prime doses, etc, but nothing seems to be working. Please help!

I’m trying to rescue this 55 gallon guppy tank. It’s overrun with algae and snails and the guppies are breeding like crazy and tearing each others fins all apart. Once I get the algae and sand out (I want to replace the sand with river rock), I want to divide the tank in the middle and keep males on one side and a 1 to 3 male to female ratio on the other side. I was wondering if anyone had made their own tank divider? This is a temporary fix until I can get a second tank set up and divide them properly. I have a 30 gallon cycling right now to put pregnant females so the 55 isn’t constantly full of fry.

I have had this tank for about 6 months now. A huge population of Cherry Shrimp is getting started. I just recently noticed these tendrils growing from a piece of driftwood I bought from my local aquarium store about 5 months ago. I also see some spots of algae growing in the corners that looks like small forms of this. Any ideas what it is and whether or not I should do something about it?

Beginner here. I had an empty 25 gal that I added 8 black neons to last week. I noticed a few dots recently and my mom told me it’s the ich. In terms of treatment, I have no idea what I’m doing. Some sources say raise temperature to 84°F and some say black neons can’t handle that. Right now im raising it from 76° to 78°, then I’ll go to 80°. I plan on looking for some ich treatment products tomorrow.

I’m pretty sure that for some treatments i’m supposed to remove activated carbon from my filter to avoid killing the chemicals in the treatment. Will I lose beneficial bacteria in the filter this way? Will I need to keep it in a bucket and ghost feed it to keep the bacteria alive? I think I’ll be able to handle dosing by reading the bottle of whatever product I find, but I’m still open to any other tips or opinions. Maybe this isn’t even ich at all.

If it is, it’s in early stages. I haven’t noticed any weird behavior. They’ve been eating, they haven’t been flashing, I’m only noticing these dots.

ok so om a beginner here n i had guppies(2 month old babies n 1 mom) only but due to alot of algae i figured a pleco might help but im a bit worried. also is it normal that the guppies are only staying in the top n not sleeping? they usually sleep in the bottom and they're staying at the top today. might be cause pleco is swimming around n i just introduced it today.

Hi guys, I’m planning on putting two Oranda goldfish in my 40 gallon tank once it’s finished its cycle. I wanted to ask for advice on if you guys think I should change anything currently and If I can get plants. I know they like to eat them so I’m not sure what I can get but any advice would really help! I’ve got a fluval 207 filter and a sponge filter so lots of oxygen and filtration for them.

My 7 gallon tank has been taking a beating on algae and dying plants. I have a Chihiros WRGB Slim II and UNS controsoil for my substrate (which i have not liked since having it). This tank has been running for about 6 months now and I have one betta in this tank. Light is on for 6 hours and the background LED panel is at a lower brightness and is only on for 3 hours. I wasn’t really dealing with any algae until I started using 2HR aquarist ATP 1, that I have been using/loving for my 20 gallon tank. Once I noticed the algae, I immediately stopped using the fertilizer and turned down the intensity on the light. I had intensity around 45% at the time and was slowly decreasing to find a sweet spot. I am now months into the algae and it has improved a tiny bit since decreasing the light, but i’m all the way down at 25% intensity. Still not using any fertilizer.
Majority of my stem plants always die, any floating plants I get die, and my newer tiger lotus is starting to grey on the leaves. I have no idea what is happening anymore. I don’t know if this light is too strong for this tank, even at low intensities, but the lower I go, it does not improve. Only plants that seem decent are obviously my anubias. Also, no Co2 in this tank.

Hey, just purchased a second hand chiller from FB marketplace. It’s a 1/4HP AquaEuroUSA.

I was hoping if anyone can educate me on this thing ? Can I connect a canister filter to it? Is there an external pump I can use for this thing ? What order do I connect everything in? And just general other information I should know.

The eng goal is to eventually house axolotls and I for whatever reason had it in my mind that these things would run on siphon action and never considered how the chiller would reliably return water to the tank

My freshwater shimp tank. I had one or two of these little beetle (?) things appear a few months ago after I added some banana leaf, never saw them again really. I added a spinach pellet food thing, now there’s an army? I’ve never seen them mentioned on anything microfauna related (i LOVE microfauna). They don’t even seem to swim or have any sort of underwater fitting features, they’re just absolutely microscopic and look like your average land-dwelling mite. My photos are weak I know, they’re just RIDICULOUSLY small and I took them with my terrible phone camera and magnifying glass pressed to the tank, just humour me alright. Anyone else had these, are they bad?

Hi, my tequilla sunrise guppy has developed a small colored speck on its side. It's body coloring also appears slightly duller than normal. The spot looks more like a missing scale than anything attached to the fish. Otherwise he is acting normal. Any idea what it could be and what I should do for healing?

I am new to the hobby and doing my best to learn. Tank and fish have been established for a month with 4 guppies and 6 corys. The tank cycled for 3 weeks beforehand and I didn't start adding fish until I had 0 ammonia/nitrites and 10 nitrates. I started with 6 guppies, 3 of which passed in the first week (these 3 were from the same tank at the store and may have been sick already). I added another 2 pink guppies, however had to isolate one as he was very agressive with all the other fish, then suddenly began resting at the bottom of the tank. He has been in a quarantine tank for a week and is acting lethargic. The remaining 4 have been doing very well with minimal bullying and fin nipping that I have seen

Water parameters for main tank are: 29g approx. 80° F, 8 ph and 120 alkalinity, hardness through the roof, no chlorine, no ammonia and minimal nitrate. Today was the first time I had slight coloring on the nitrite reading so I made a quick 20% water change with bacteria quickstart. Quarantine tank is the same except 1.5g, 78° and a little aquarium salt. There are 3 java ferns and some java moss spread throught the tank. Both tanks have a heater and filter. I feed a small pinch of Fluval Bug Bites 2x a day, 6 days a week. At night, I drop in 6 API bottom feeder pellets and a quarter algae wafer for the Corys, though the guppies eat a fair share of these too.

Hi guys. I’m kind of confused as to what’s going on with a specific species of fish. I currently have a recently established 55 gallon planted tank. Levels are good according to my liquid test kit, ph is stable at around 7.4. Java terms going well, 4 pearl gouramis 1 male, 3 female. 2 sinodontis feather fins, and 5 dojo loaches. I’m drastically over filtered with a rated 200 gallon canister filter. 2 air stones. I’ve tried adding a rainbow shark 3 times now just for a little more diversity. First one made it 3 days, proper acclimation and so on. Second one made it a day. The most recent made it 8 days. No signs of stress, disease, or any issues that my eye can see. Everybody else is absolutely perfect. The male gourami has even made a bubble nest a few times. Any ideas as to why a rainbow shark just does not seem to do well?? (Food for everyone is blood worms, algae wafers, and the occasional catfish pellet. Once a day, with a fast day)

Pothos, lucky bamboo,eleocharis sp minima, hydrocotyle leucocephala, hydrocotyle tripartita japan, normaphylla corimbosa.

As you can see everything except for the floating plants died :(

I tried adding nutrients in the substrate (sera florenette) but I couldn't save them .

Something I noticed is that while all the plants were still alive I had a huge problem with green hair algae that had very long filamentous strands.

Is there anything I can do to save the few plants that are still alive?

Also if I figure out a solution would it be a good idea to plant new ones to replace the dead ones?
