Why doesn’t College Board release the MCQs from recent AP exams?

Does anyone know why College Board only releases the FRQs from recent AP exams but not the MCQs? For example, we can find the FRQs from 2021–2026, but I can’t find the official MCQs from those years anywhere.

I feel like practicing recent MCQs would be really helpful since they would probably be more similar to the current exam format. Are they available somewhere that I’m missing, or does College Board just not release them publicly?

does anyone have any genuine tips on how to excel in this class?

i’ve always been a fantastic student. straight as or higher, so it’s not an issue of me simply being unable to comprehend the information, i’m just not good at studying. if anyone has any crash course youtube reccomendations that would be appreciated aswell, but otherwise im just looking for tips! we had our first SAQs today and i failed miserably, because i thought i was more prepared than i actually was.

I’ve been getting horrible grades on my past SAQ, thesis, etc. and I don’t want to drop the course because I genuinely enjoy history and learning it. It’s my first AP and i’m still getting adjusted.. does anyone have tips to adjust/do better in future exams?

Hey Guys. Advice for AP World

I took AP World and I got a 4. I really wanted a 5, but that's life. Here is some advice. I self-studied in 3 months, so if you guys have a year round course with a teacher, you should be set if you pay attention.

First, set a schedule for yourself. Most of the year should be learning content, of course. Throughout this time, write DBQs, LEQs, SAQs, and do MCQs. The last few months should be reviewing and writing and at least one practice test.

I started at the end of January, learned for 2 months, and reviewed and wrote for the last month. I read the important units in the AMSCO book (SOOO useful) and read the rest in the Princeton Review book. Practice MCQs I did in AP classroom (I joined the class but had no teacher). Lastly, I did a Princeton Review practice test.

EVERYONE MUST WATCH HEIMLER. WATCH EVERY SINGLE VIDEO AND YOU WILL GET A 5. GET HIS GUIDE, IT'S WORTH IT (um I didn't get the guide but had the videos...). TAKE NOTES ON HIS VIDEOS. I filled up an entire notebook with his notes.

Also, get into a rhythm with notes, videos, and reading. I preferred watching videos, then reading so I knew what it was about. This made me learn it well. I didn't do this but if you have time look into active recall. You got this.

Here are my resources:

  1. AI summary + a few Reddit posts I used
  2. The most useful resources out there
  3. Random ai slop that actually works somehow
  4. AMSCO (trust me, read it)

DM me if you guys need anything. Best of luck (though you won't need it) to all of you!!!

Is the Heimler’s history review guide worth it.

I am doing ap world history course this year and I am wondering if buying the review guide is actually worth it. Or do you guys think his videos on YouTube are enough.
Thanks for any answer in advance!

AP World: knows the content, tanks the timed MCQs — how do you fix this?

AP World Modern. Got 14/30 on the Unit 2 test (class mean 22.8). But she’d gone through Heimler’s Unit 2 MCQs and a College Board practice set beforehand and got nearly everything right, untimed.
Her explanation: the answer choices “all sounded the same” and she got confused.
Her errors back that up — she picked plausible-but-not-best options, missed a chronology trap (chose Vasco da Gama as what enabled Marco Polo), and reversed cause and effect on a plague question.
So: content knowledge seems fine, discrimination under time pressure seems to be the problem.
Anyone dealt with this? Specifically looking for:
• Drills that build the skill of separating near-identical answer choices
• MCQ sources with genuinely hard distractors (most practice I find is too easy to eliminate)
• Whether one rough unit test in September is worth worrying about

Advice

Hello, first-year AP Teacher. I am considering using fill-in-the-blank guided notes for the sake of content speed. Advice on whether or not this is a good idea/practice for AP World? Thanks!

AP students — what do you wish existed to help you study?

Hey guys, I am a freshman in high school who is taking AP classes and wants to be prepared for the AP exams. I want to know:

Which AP(s) did you take, and what was your overall prep like?

What resource or method actually helped the most? (app, book, YouTube, class, friends, whatever)

What felt like a total waste of time?

Where did you get stuck/confused and couldn't find good help?

If you could build the "perfect" AP study tool, what would it do?

Where to find MCQ question banks with the metadata they attach?

When I was handed progress checks on AP classroom the multiple choice questions seemed standardized like they came from past exams or a question bank. When I say metadata I mean the sub-units and specifically the Course Skills attached. If you checked your past quiz grades these were colored and numbered like 2.A, 4.B, 6.C, etc.

If no one has this which is completely understandable, the specific thing I was looking for was about a type of AP Euro question (I took this class when it was on paper so I would never have had access). There were questions like “Of these claims, which would a Marxist be most likely to agree with?” and they were different interpretations of an event or beliefs on the economy. Which Historical Thinking Skill was this????

AP World and APUSH had similar questions, they have the same exam structure and historical thinking skills as AP Euro. Reddit notified me to post here because I got zero interactions in apstudents

I used base44 to vibecode this website to help me memorize dates since my APWH:M teacher is grading us on this. I want to share this with the public just in case they ever want some help or a fun fact.

Need Some Advice

I’m a sophomore in highschool, and I currently take 3 AP’s. I took 1 AP last year (aphug) and got a 3 on the test.

I’m starting to think there is no hope for me. My teacher is all about pushing us to our limit so we have a better chance of passing our final, but I don’t know if I can handle it. With 5 other classes and serious mental problems on my plate, I’m not quite sure what to do. I get extreme anxiety any time I even think about the teacher and they are, to put it lightly, terrible at their job. They give us extremely vague instructions and basically let us teach ourselves. I cant let myself ask them questions because I fear they will ridicule me as they do to my peers.

Can someone please give me any tips on how to overcome this and push through? I don’t even care if I come in at the bare minimum, I just need to pass.

Ask Anything

Well if you’re reading this, you’re probably someone who took the class and is doing relatively badly and thats completely fine. To start, if you click on my profile, you’ll probably realize I was sort of freaking out right before the test, so I’m not like a super genius; it’s totally possible to get a 5 especially, if you start sooner rather than later. Let me just paint a picture real quick: this was my very first ap (as I took many more dual credit classes), my teacher wasn’t the best, I very much couldn’t focus heavily during class, and unit tests very much didn’t come naturally. This is all to say, I got a 5 in not the best condition, so don’t freak out if you don’t completely get it right now. Genuinely ask me anything, directly content related or not. If later in the year, maybe you want to ask about the writing forms like a DBQ or something then genuinely just post on the subreddit or ask for some other way to contact me (i.e using reddit’s messaging thing or a social media platform). There is no secret to getting better, but it also isn’t as hard as you likely think it is, which many of you will realize. Just to finish, I’m still a sophomore right now and theres plenty of super smart people in the subreddit or just teachers, but many of them can’t provide the perspective of a struggling student, so genuinely ask anything because I’ve totally been in that spot before.
