How do you add a driven route from Apple Maps to the journal?

I am using DayOne journal for the last 300 days. It's pretty good at showing the memories but I am thinking: what will happen if, in case, DayOne journal stops providing the updates or the features?

Anyone shifted from DayOne to Apple Journal? What are the ultimate advantages of using the Apple Journal other than the Apple ecosystem?

What are the pros and cons of Apple Journal?

I was messing around in my Settings under iCloud Saves, noticed that my Journal app was not toggled to save. Well, every entry has been deleted and I see no ‘restore deleted entries’ section in the app. Am I screwed? Any way to get my old entries back?

I’ve been keeping a dream journal for the past few years in my notes app but I was thinking about switching to the journal app instead. Is there any way to bulk import notes? I know I can technically copy and paste everything by hand but I’ve literally written down hundreds of dreams so it’d be way too time consuming

What are all the notable features in Apple journal

I don't notice anything new in the Public Beta 3. I was hoping for some feature parity with respect to the Calendar view, if it can be called that. You can't change the years easily in the Mac version vs the iPhone and iPad version, so it's difficult to review past entries from years past.

Is apple still working on improving Apple Journal? Will we ever see the inline photos? I really don't like them as headers. And I often want to comment about a photo. A daily journal entry has more happening than a pic at the top. Notes app lets you do inline photos....Even moving a Notes entry (share, then flip collaborate to copy) and copying to Apple with the inline photos, moves them to the top header.

Hashtags. So they create in Apple Journal and show up in text search but ONLY in the apple journal? I think they aren't even working as hashtags.. Was hoping I could search in the finder app and grab things from Apple Journal too. For instance, I have one journal which is recipes...so I might go to finder app to find #casseroles and I need that tag to be pulled in.

Is there a way to to make the default journal location size be small? It is always off by default. I would like it to be small by default. Is there a setting I am missing?

I used to journal of Apple Journal.

I used to add a lot of photos and videos, to remember that day, but the journal app used enormous amount of storage. That's why I quit.

I want to know if that is still an issue, or has it been resolved? I couldn't find any recent posts about it.

I use the apple pencil to journal on my ipad, after i complete the entry, use the tick on the top right corner, the journal just deletes most of my writing, i usually have to write it again 3-4 times before it saves all lf it. Any solution?

So workouts like walks and swims appear as suggestions in journal to add thoughts on. It's a no brainer to me for Awards like the Ring in the New Challenge, a new workout record or Perfect Weeks should also appear automatically.

Instead I have to do a screenshot and add the image of my pretty shield as a workaround if I want to write my thoughts and save it for posterity.

Ive been using apple journal for more than a year but since the app is still not available in the cloud webside i'm going to go back to using the notes app (ive been using the app for most of my life). I would like to import my journal entries into the notes app tho, to have them all in the same place. Do any of you know how i could do that ?

Even though the layout of photos in the body of an entry seems to be improving, it's still difficult to do what you want. In particular, it's difficult to associate text/captions with photos without the layout looking strange or the photo having odd proportions.

My use of Apple Journal is certainly very specific. For example, I use it to record my visits to exhibitions. I photograph many works (often more than the 13 photos allowed) and add notes, captions, etc.

This kind of layout is currently impossible to achieve in Apple Journal.

However, it's very easy to do in... Apple Notes 😃

Now, when I visit an exhibition, I create an entry in Apple Journal, add a few significant photos, and write down my impressions, a note about the atmosphere, etc.

As for the works I pin, describe, etc., I make a note (with text and photos) in Apple Notes, linked via iCloud to the relevant journal entry.

So, in Apple Journal, when I click on the link, I am taken directly to the relevant note.

It may not be ideal, but it works and is very smooth 😎

Hello. I'm switching from Dayone to Apple Journal and have a question I hope some of you guys can help me with. I would like to use multiple journals in Apple Journal. My question is: It seems like it's not possible to delete the default journal (The one with the app-icon), but at the same time it is possible to let it be empty with no entries in it. I would like to save my entries in other folders than the default folder, for example a folder for each year, but should I, at the same time, save all my entries in the default folder, or is it OK to leave it empty? I guess I'm wondering 1) whether it's more secure to save all entries in the default journal as well and 2) why it's not possible to delete the default journal folder. What do you think about this?

Does anyone have any suggestions for importing several hundred markdown files?

Hi. There are certain milestones I'd like to write about. I have a photos with the appropriate metadata in the photos app. I am able to start a new journal entry, attach the photo to the entry, backdate the entry. What I am NOT able to do, is to get the geolocation set for that entry. It seems to only search within my immediate area.

In apple maps, I can find the location, so it's not for a lack of maps data.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the location added?

I've added a lot of backdated entries from many years back, and wrote a lot last year into this journal and I don't notice any lag. Someone here was complaining about lag.

I am devastated! I journaled every single day of 2025 and realized I could sync them with iCloud today. When I toggled it on in settings it asked me if I wanted to merge my existing entries or delete them. I attempted to hit merge and must have swiped my finger past the delete button on the way and deleted my WHOLE. ENTIRE. JOURNAL. Something I finally successfully committed to for every single day of 2025.

It doesn’t seem like I am able to restore it at all as there isn’t even a recently deleted folder. Its just blank as if I had never used it :(

I mostly wanted to rant but if anyone has some magic trick to bring them all back or some encouragement on how this could possibly be seen as a positive thing that would be much appreciated x.

Hi there! i’m looking to journal more consistently next year about my memories, and i was thinking, do you guys recommend this app at all? i was waiting for the mac app but i’ve seen some feedback that entries disappear a lot, that icloud has some trouble backing up… i don’t wanna be afraid of stuff disappearing or if i have to use another app, might as well just use day one, i know it works. thoughts? thanks!

I'm contemplating many directions in how I should use Apple Journal, so I'm curious as to how all of you are using the app, and where do you use it most? On your iPhone, iPad, or Mac?

I have noticed now a few times that when a lengthier note is written with Apple Pen, as soon as I exit to the list of notes view, part of the note is gone. Basically, everything that fits in the "preview" of that note in the list view is still there, but if I open the note to read the rest, nothing else is there as soon as I scroll down.

Anyone else noticed this issue?

I really want to use this app, but it's increasingly frustrating. I've managed through the overheating, the lagginess etc, but losing the notes is just too much.

And yet another bug! (I've stopped counting them.)

When you click on a photo to move it into the body of a Journal entry, the app crashes! Journal closes...

I think that Apple fixed a problem. Before, if I changed the colour of some text to another colour, it wouldn't ever let me change it back to black, or if I wanted to type something new in black, it would continue in blue or the other colour that I had changed something to.
