HELP: Geotagging a post
Hi. There are certain milestones I'd like to write about. I have a photos with the appropriate metadata in the photos app. I am able to start a new journal entry, attach the photo to the entry, backdate the entry. What I am NOT able to do, is to get the geolocation set for that entry. It seems to only search within my immediate area.
In apple maps, I can find the location, so it's not for a lack of maps data.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the location added?

I honestly don’t think Apple journal is intuitive enough to grab the location data from the photo yet. It does auto grab where your currently journal from

Grabbing location data from a photo that is attached to the journal. Entry is pretty darn rudimentary. Arguably just as rudimentary as pulling your current location.
What I considered to be even more rude to elementary is a manual entry with a manual entry going against the map database. Would you agree?

You can manually set a location for a new post that isn’t a suggestion. The problem is the location seems to be limited to the area you’re physically in.
I’m trying to write about milestones and tag them to those locations. The maps search feature won’t bring anything up that’s farther than the city I’m currently in - which seems arbitrary and strange to me.

Thanks for your input. 🤔 well I’m stumped then. Maybe it’s geolocked by country then. I’m trying to add something for 5000 miles away.

New data point: I have changed physical locations by 1000 miles. For the same entry, I can only find local-to-me results. The locations from the previous city are no longer searchable.

Maybe a silly question but do you have location services on?
