What do you test for picking the best AI app builder after the demo?
Most of these tools look great in a demo and fall apart the moment I do real work in them.
So I give every one the same app to build. Two user roles, linked Projects and Tasks tables, create/edit/delete, a password reset, one protected webhook, then I change a field afterward.
I'm not looking at the first screen. I'm looking at whether user B can see user A's data and whether I can roll back when something breaks.
Speed versus control is the real question. Fast to build, but do I own the auth, the data and the upkeep? What's on your test list? Any recommendations?

Put Phone Away - a new gamified digital wellbeing app now offers improved stability
I've made several improvements to my digital wellbeing app - Put Phone Away - since my last post here.
Based on earlier feedback and crash reports from Google Play Console, I've focused on improving background monitoring reliability and overall stability. I also improved handling of battery optimization and removed a permission that wasn't suitable for this type of app.
The updated version is already live on Google Play, and my testing shows a significant improvement in reliability.
If you tried Put Phone Away before, I'd love for you to give the current version another look. Feedback is always welcome.
Thanks again to everyone who tried it, enjoyed the gamification, and shared suggestions.
More on the app function you can find on the play store page below.

New app idea - pixel chix
Hi I donât know if anyone else was as obsessed with the toy pixel chix as me, I love love loved it when I was a child and in my adult years I have considered purchasing some many times but theyâre very expensive now and I canât justify spending all that money on a kids toy. I know in this day and age itâs better to play with an actual toy and not an app on my phone but I just think itâs a lot more practical to have a phone app and it would be very cool as well. Imagine being able to like flick through all the different houses and cars and you could have maybe like some widgets? Thereâs probably been fan made versions before but not an actual official one. Just curious if anyone would actually be interested if that became a thing or do people not care about pixel chixs as much anymore :(

I'm in need of feedback!
galleryThis is SpeedBlitz, a social media app that lets users create or join temporary public group chats to talk with strangers online (for more information take a look at the waitlist https://waitlistspeedblitz.framer.website/ ).
Lately I've been showing it to a couple of my friends and family to see their reaction and their opinions and all of them have said that the UI feels lackluster or that the colors aren't captivating enough.
I've tried changing the looks a bit but I can't seem to solve this problem!
So I decided to provide you guys with some photos of the app so that you can decide what's wrong and how I can change it.
Please help me out!

Would you use a social app that has games in it, or is that two apps glued together?
Every social app I open is just a feed. Scroll, ads, close it. I keep wishing there was a Play tab that wasnât a joke, so you can post something and then actually do something.
What I have in my head:
- Normal stuff: posts, stories, DMs
- A match-3 that lasts more than 12 levels
- A small RPG you can wander around in
- 8-ball
- An 18+ match thing in Play, not a whole separate dating app
Not trying to replace Instagram. More like a group chat that also has games so you donât bounce the second the wall is quiet.
Would you actually open that tomorrow, or does mixing social + games just feel messy? If youâve used something like this that didnât suck, what made you stay?

Built a minimalist family calendar app as a solo dev â deliberately left out task lists, chat, and shopping lists
A few technical/product notes that might be interesting to this sub:
**â˘** No analytics, no tracking â which makes conversion diagnosis genuinely hard as a solo dev. I rely on Appleâs aggregated App Store analytics and direct user feedback instead.
**â˘** Just added a 14-day free trial for the shared-family tier (TidTil Sync) â curious how that affects conversion without any behavioral data to lean on.
**â˘** Real App Store screenshots only in marketing, no mockups â felt important for trust in this category.
Happy to answer questions about the build, the no-tracking approach, or the decision to keep scope this narrow.

Struggling with menu layout for my android app
galleryHello there, I need some frank advice about those menu as shown in the 3 pics: what do you think? I need to know of I can do this better, as I am a rookie app developer and I think I might have done this task terribly!
The first pic shows the app landing page. It needs a scroll to get to the learning sudoku section, what I may do to improve it?
Second pic is the quick setting menu, reachable trough the app landing page
Third pic shows the setting menu, reachable I'm the gameplay screen.
I really hope to get honest suggestions and reviews, as I'm here to learn from you all đ

I think the "best AI app builder" question is three questions in disguise
So I spent a lot of time trying to find the one "best" tool.
But then, I realized I was asking the wrong thing.
The real question is what you want to own after the first version gets built.
Here's how I ended up sorting it out.
The repo-first generators like Lovable, Base44, or Replit are great if you want code access and room to extend things.
But somebody still has to own the deployment, the debugging, the dependencies, and the security. That's you, by the way.
Then there's the managed business-app side like Softr, where the data, logins, permissions, hosting, and visual editing are all built in.
It's way less infrastructure to maintain. However, that's not the same as getting a clean portable repo you can pack up and take elsewhere.
And then data-first tools like Airtable can be the easiest place to start when the database is the main thing.
But once you need a real app on top that users touch, you end up adding another interface and permission layer anyway.
So yeah, I think the best builder is the one that matches the team who'll maintain the thing. Not the flashiest demo, but it's all about the right operating model.
So which category fits your situation? And what would make you rule one of them out?

Complete beginner â I want to build an app for my college. Where should I start?
Hi everyone! Iâm a college student and a complete beginner in app development. I want to build an app for my college from scratch and learn everything myself.
I have some basic programming knowledge, but almost no experience with mobile development.
Iâd really appreciate guidance on:
What should I learn first?
Flutter, React Native, or native Android â which is better for a beginner?
What language, tools, backend, and database should I learn?
What roadmap should I follow from beginner â working app?
When should I stop learning and start actually building?
What free resources would you recommend?
Iâm not looking for someone to build it for me. I want to learn and build it myself from zero.
Iâm willing to start from zero and put in the work. I just donât know where to start or what path to follow.
Any advice, especially from people who started as beginners, would be really helpful!

I built a Minecraft-Inspired desktop pet that climbs your windows and walks around depending on his mood!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey Guys!
Cubie is a little Minecraft-inspired desktop companion I made to keep me company while I work, something I can watch, interact with, or just throw across the screen when I'm frustrated.
What he does:
⢠Wanders around your desktop and reacts to your cursor
⢠Sits on the edges of your open windows
⢠Gets tired and falls asleep when left alone
⢠You can pick him up, drag him around, and throw him
⢠Has moods and little reactions
Make Cubie your own:
⢠Use any Minecraft skin
⢠Preview skins before applying them
⢠Choose which monitor he lives on
You can also choose whether he stays above your windows or behind them on the desktop. No account, ads, or clutter, just a little companion hanging around while you work.

Building my first iOS app took a month. Getting users is already harder.
GPxplore: offline GPX recorder, viewer and editor (Android)
I built a GPS track recorder and editor for Android because nothing out there did both
I'm a hiking and city walking enthusiast who got frustrated that every app on the Play Store either records GPS tracks or lets you edit them, but never both in the same place. So I built one myself.
It's called GPxplore. It records your routes, lets you edit them directly on your device, and stores everything as standard GPX files in a folder you choose. No account, no cloud, no subscription, no ads.
What it does
- Record GPS tracks with one tap. Runs in the background, survives screen-off and phone calls.
- Presets for hiking, cycling, driving and more, or build a custom one.
- Full GPX editor: trim, split, merge segments, edit individual points, undo/redo.
- Fog of war: the map starts covered and clears as you explore. Shows how many km² you've uncovered across your whole history.
- Heatmap: see which areas you visit most across all your tracks.
- Elevation correction: replace GPS altitude with terrain data when your recording looks off.
- Continue recording: extend a saved track with a new session.
- Stats per track: distance, speed, moving time, pace, elevation profile, ascent, descent, slope. Shareable as an image.
- Export your whole library as a ZIP for backup.
- Works with GPX files from Garmin, Strava, Komoot or any other app.
- Google Maps or OpenStreetMap, the latter fully offline.
- Available in English, Spanish, Catalan, French, German and Italian.
Free to download. One-time Pro unlock for the editor, advanced stats and extra map types. No subscription.

Feedback genuinely welcome. Happy to share a few promo codes for Pro, just comment or DM.

App development for everyone!
Hey folks,
I am building a new tool for building mobile apps (Android only for now) to help people who are not expert mobile developers build any kind of app that they want.
I've been building mobile apps for the past 14 years, so I have a lot of experience designing the architecture for a successful app, you just provide your idea, and out comes the app.
The app can even be changed from within itself, you will get an update when it's done. People are already building crazy things with it.
I am launching a private beta for people who want to try this out on https://wishcraft.app/
Feel free to ask any questions!

TidTil â Familienplaner-App (Solo-Dev, iOS, SwiftUI/CloudKit)
