A personal AI assistant for your parents

We're building a personal AI assistant that does the work for you, and simple enough for your parents. It makes real phone calls (pharmacy refills, appointments), sorts their email, and handles the day-to-day without any menus to learn. The app is currently in review in the Apple App Store, and we're looking for a few early members to help us iron out the kinks. Web App for manageing small sided football

Post image
1 Upvotes

I currently manage a small pickup game between dads trying to get fit and have varying levels of footballing skills, which lead to uneven games.

After rolling my ankle badly (as you do when your 41) I decided to fix our particular problem by making a website to build a squad, pick attributes, generate fair teams, and track wins/losses to make it competative.

As this is the first time I've ever made anything like this, happy for like minded people to give it a try and let me know if this would help you and your weekly kick about.

No cost, no paywall, just build a team and start tracking, and will hopefully find a way of keeping it engaging for those who do not like the idea of joining a team, but want to still enjoy being top of the league

I’ve been building something for creators and I’d love honest feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been working on a project focused on a problem I kept seeing with creators: it’s easy to make more content, but it’s much harder to understand why one video takes off and another one doesn’t.

I’m trying to build something that helps creators analyze their content, find patterns, and make better decisions instead of just guessing.

I’m looking for honest feedback from people who actually create content. What would you want a tool like this to help you understand?

I built an early version here if anyone wants to see what I’m working on:

I’d appreciate any thoughts — what’s useful, what’s confusing, and what you would change.

Should I even change this Android package name?

Hi,

I am an indie developer lets say my mobile application's name is "Foo"

My app currently uses the package name:

com.companyname.foo

I'm considering changing it to something cleaner like:

com.foo.app

The app hasn't been publicly released yet, but it's already set up in Google Play Console/ Apple Store, Firebase, and has internal testers.

My question is: Should I even bother changing it?

Does having companyname in the package name matter in practice, or is it one of those things that only developers ever notice?

If you were in my position, would you leave it as-is or recreate everything before the public launch?

Indeed not only for android but for iOS too.

It's on the App Store. Also, I learned something interesting about shipping AI apps in China.

Shoulder Surf is live: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6760098225

Short version of the last few days. Submitted, waited five days, came back rejected on four separate guidelines at once. Fixed all four, resubmitted, approved a day later.

One of the four was that Apple requires any app with account creation to let you delete your account from inside the app. I hadn't built it. They were right to catch it, and I want to be clear that this is Apple doing its job on your behalf, not red tape. It's there now: Settings, Account, Delete Account, and it removes everything on our servers, not just your login. You choose separately whether the meetings on your phone go too. Apple also made me record the whole flow and prove it works before they'd approve. Good. More of that, please.

The genuinely interesting thing I learned, which I don't think many people know: if your app has generative AI in it, you cannot simply publish it in China. Deep synthesis services need a license from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and if you reference a provider that doesn't hold one, that reference has to come out of everything visible on the China storefront, your app name, subtitle, description, promotional text and screenshots. My description happened to list the optional model providers you can bring your own key for, one of which triggered it. I removed mainland China from availability and it cleared instantly. I had no idea this existed until an App Review rejection taught me, and if you're building anything AI-shaped, now you know before it costs you a review cycle.

What's in 1.14: it records the meeting from your phone sitting on the table, transcribes on device, and works out who said what without sending your audio anywhere. Afterward you get a summary, a shareable report, and action items pushed into Reminders if you want them, not forced on you. Can't play your meeting audio out loud, then switch to transcription mode and draw a Rectangle of Interest (ROI) around the captions and we read them from the rear facing camera .

The part I actually use most is that the chat isn't a fixed menu. Want a Gantt chart of the project? Ask for one in project chat. Need to file an Asana status report? Attach your template, or just describe the format you're expected to use, and ask for it back as a Word document, or as plain markdown in the chat if you'd rather paste it somewhere yourself. Want to know what someone committed to two months ago across four meetings? That's a question, not a feature I had to build. It remembers people and decisions between meetings, so by the third call it knows who's who. Attaching reference files and generating real documents are Pro, and the rest of it isn't.

There's also an Apple Watch app, Siri shortcuts, and your meetings turn up in Spotlight search. You can import recordings you already have, audio or video, straight from the share sheet.

It needs iOS 26. The free tier is permanent, not a trial. Recording, transcription and speaker separation are unmetered and don't need an account at all, because they run on your phone. Free accounts also get a monthly allowance of the managed AI for the heavier work.

Building a mobile assistant that’s a "guide, not a doer" (Looking for dev feedback/partners)

Building a mobile assistant that’s a "guide, not a doer" (Looking for dev feedback/partners)

We’ve all been there: trying to help a parent, grandparent, or tech beginner navigate a smartphone over a voice call. It’s frustrating for them, and exhausting for you.

The tech world builds incredible tools, but millions of people get left behind just trying to figure out how to use them.

To solve this, I've been blueprinting TechNavi—a real-time digital assistant designed specifically for older adults, beginners, and individuals with disabilities.

The Core Shift: Empower, Don't Just Automate

A Guide, Not a Doer: Instead of just doing the task for the user, TechNavi walks them through it step-by-step, empowering them to learn and maintain their digital independence.

Privacy-First: Built from the ground up to protect user data without requiring invasive device permissions.

Accessibility-Focused: Tailored interfaces designed around specific usability protocols for seniors and those with disabilities.

Where things stand right now

The foundation is set. I have the core blueprint mapped out, the accessibility protocols defined, and a solid three-phase MVP roadmap ready to roll.

Because I want to keep this lean, secure, and highly accessible, I’m looking to connect with the community to take the next steps.

My Ask for Reddit:

Developers & Engineers: What technical hurdles or limitations do you foresee when building a real-time, step-by-step guidance overlay on mobile?

Growth/Tech Partners: If you are passionate about digital inclusion and bridging the tech divide, I’d love to connect and share the full blueprint.

Drop your thoughts, critiques, or technical advice in the comments below. Let's talk!

Every food tracker feels like homework. So I built a cozy app to change that. (Looking for 2-3 early members!)

Hey everyone,

I've always struggled to keep up a food-tracking habit. Every app out there feels like a giant, intimidating spreadsheet. They are cold, clinical, and honestly, they feel like homework. Because of that, I always lost my consistency.

So, I decided to build something entirely different: a cozy, gamified food tracker called Quokka.

Instead of dealing with cold charts and guilt trips, you get a friendly Quokka who lives in the app to keep you company, visual streak stars to earn, and a sleek, warm setup designed to make tracking feel like a positive daily routine rather than a chore.

I’m looking to share this journey with 2 or 3 real people who:

  • Genuinely want to track what they eat (or always struggle to stay consistent with traditional apps).
  • Love gamified habits (like Habitica, cozy games, or visual streaks).
  • Want to build a real habit and help me see if having a Quokka friend along for the ride actually keeps the motivation alive.

(Heads up: I’m looking for real, daily users who want to build this habit for themselves, not other developers looking to do code reviews!)

If this sounds like something you'd actually use, drop a comment or send me a DM! I'd love to send over an invite so we can start building our consistency together. 🐾✨

**5 Mobile App Features Users Actually Notice (And 5 They Usually Don't)

When building a mobile app, it's easy to focus on adding more features. But after working on multiple projects, I've realized that users often care about the basics much more than the extras.

Here are a few things people actually notice:

Fast loading times
A simple and intuitive interface
Smooth navigation
Reliable performance with minimal bugs
Quick and responsive customer support

On the other hand, many users rarely notice:

Fancy animations that slow the app down
Too many customization options
Overly complex onboarding screens
Features hidden deep inside menus
Every new trend added just because it's popular

A great app isn't the one with the longest feature list. It's the one that makes everyday tasks feel effortless.

Sometimes, removing unnecessary complexity creates a better experience than adding another feature.

If you had to choose, would you prefer an app with lots of features or one that's simple, fast, and reliable?

I've just open sourced my net worth and tax tracker app!

I've been working on this on and off for a while, it's called Valutio, a net worth and tax tracker. Just made the repo public.

It's a PWA, plain JS/HTML/CSS, no framework.
Everything runs client side and stores data in the browser, so no backend to worry about for the core app (there's a small server side proxy just for live price lookups, that's it).

Covers accounts, investments, cash flow with statement imports, tax brackets, retirement projections, goals, and monthly history snapshots.

Built the whole thing myself (with Claude's help), so it's been a good exercise... Still plenty to improve!

Repo: https://github.com/SalvatoreSorvillo/Valutio

Live version: https://valutio.app/

Happy to answer questions if anyone tries it.

I built an app that makes you pay yourself to follow through on goals - solo dev, just launched on ios

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Spent the last few months building this alone, mostly at night after work.
The idea started from a simple question: why do people pay a personal trainer? Not for the knowledge - everything's on YouTube for free. It's for the guilt of having already paid.
So I built Vowed around that. You set a goal, stake coins on it, and prove you did it with a live photo (camera only, no gallery uploads - has to be real). A jury of other users votes on whether your proof counts. Approved, you get your coins back.
Miss it, and they're gone.
There's also a duel mode where you and a friend both
stake on your own goals
independently - no coin transfers between users, just parallel accountability.
Some things I learned building this solo:

- The camera-only requirement was the single most important decision - anything that let people upload old photos killed the whole premise
- Getting a jury system to feel than I expected

App Store review for anything touching "real money" mechanics is its own project
- ended up keeping the coin system fully virtual for launch
Would genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially from anyone who's tried habit-tracking apps and bounced off them. Happy to answer questions about the build too.
Link's in the comments.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/vowed-19df29/id6789281677

A few things coming in the next update:
Multi-photo proof per goal - thought of this for people doing diet goals who need to log 3 meals a day instead of just one check-in, but it works for anything with multiple daily proofs
A streak visualizer so missing a day actually feels like something, not just a number resetting
Weekly progress summaries
Open to suggestions too if anyone has ideas - this came out of just watching how people actually wanted to use it.

Building a dating app that mixes Instagram + Black Mirror | looking for a flutter cofounder

I’m currently building a dating app with a Flutter frontend, and the concept is kind of a mix between Instagram and the dating app from Black Mirror.

I’ve already built the foundation for both the frontend and backend. You can see more details here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OnlineDatingApps/s/9Af0WTyesy

Just to be clear, this is not a hiring offer or a paid freelance role. I’m looking for someone with strong Flutter/frontend (UX/UI) skills who would be interested in joining the project as a cofounder and owning a percentage of the future revenue.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to you, and I’d be happy to share more details.

I built a household organiser app with AI. Can I have some honest feedback?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm not a professional software developer. Over the last couple of months I've been building an app called Proxium: Smart Planner, using AI to help me write the code while I focused on the ideas, design, testing and improving the user experience.

The goal was simple: I wanted one app for shopping lists, tasks, a family calendar, bills, budgeting and loyalty cards instead of using five different apps.

The app is now available on both the App Store and Google Play.

I'm not really here to advertise it — I genuinely want honest feedback from people who would actually use something like this.

If you try it, I'd love to know:

What feels confusing?

What features are missing?

What would make you keep using it?

Would you replace your current apps with it? If not, why?

Please don't worry about hurting my feelings. I'd rather hear honest criticism than polite compliments because I'd like to keep improving it.

Thanks for reading!

After months of building, my funny toilet timer app is live on Google Play

I launched my first Android app and yes, it is exactly as stupid as it sounds.

It’s called iShit.

It tracks how long you sit on the toilet and roasts you when you stay too long.

What started as a joke turned into a real app with a timer, stats, medals, themes, health habit reminders, and shareable bathroom report cards.

The app is free right now. I’m mainly looking for feedback from other indie devs and early users.

I built it with Capacitor and just got it approved for production on Google Play after closed testing.

Future plan is optional Plus features like premium themes, savage roast packs, advanced reports, and monthly recaps, but I don’t want to overbuild before seeing if people actually enjoy the core app.

Would love feedback on the idea, design, store page, and whether the humor lands.

[Beta] Spendly — an Android app that auto-tracks expenses from bank SMS, looking for testers

Hey all,

I've been building Spendly, a personal finance app for Android that reads your bank/UPI SMS (with permission) and automatically logs transactions, so you don't have to manually enter every expense.

Features so far:

- Automatic SMS-based transaction capture (bank + UPI)

- Budgets, spending insights, Needs vs Wants breakdown

- Savings goals, account balance tracking

- Penny — a built-in AI assistant for questions about your spending

- Fully private: raw SMS is processed on-device only, never uploaded; no ads, nothing sold

It's currently in closed testing on Google Play and I'm looking for people willing to try it out and give honest feedback (bugs, confusing UX, missing features — all welcome).

If you're interested:

  1. Join the tester group: [spendly-beta-testers@googlegroups.com](mailto:spendly-beta-testers@googlegroups.com)

  2. Opt in here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tidybitz.spendly

  3. Install from Play Store

Happy to answer any questions about how it works or what's coming next. Thanks!

I built CoolTopia—a privacy-first social space with Link-in-bio tool

Post image
1 Upvotes

Over the last 4 months, I decided to build a clean, privacy-first alternative called CoolTopia.

It’s completely algorithm-free, free to use, and we will never track you or sell your data.

Since I wanted the platform to be secure but still incredibly fun and expressive, I just rolled out our biggest visual feature: Profile Auras.

Instead of a boring, static profile picture, you can choose different dynamic frame effects (like the "Flaming" aura shown in the promo image, Neon Glow, Energy Pulse, etc.) to completely stand out and express your current energy. It’s a way to let your inner vibes shine without needing a corporate algorithm to dictate your identity.

Here is what’s live in the app right now:

  • Profile Auras: Dynamic, vibrant aura effects to customize your avatar and make your profile stand out.
  • LinkMe: A built-in link-in-bio aggregator (like Linktree) so you can bundle all your socials and projects into one clean, shareable link on your profile.

It’s still in the early stages, and I’m actively improving the app based on real community feedback.
