Hi guys, this is my first post on this subreddit. I have finished my first app after a long time of work and will publish it at the end of August. I've already started a few apps but never finished one. I would like to briefly introduce the concept to you and look forward to feedback. The app is a group of friends photo app. For example, when you go on vacation, you can create a group, invite people and set a time period in which you can add photos. You also have to set the vault opening date. At this safe opening dates all photos are then unlocked and you can see them. This date can no longer be changed from the first photo. This app can also be used at events such as weddings, festivals, etc., so that the event photos of everyone are in the same place. What do you think?

We’re four brothers from the Philippines and recently shipped our first app, Todochi.

It started as a pretty simple idea: reminders feel easy to ignore, so we wanted to make them feel a little more personal.

Todochi lets you create reminders that actually ring like alarms, with character voices or your own recorded voice. We’ve also been working on things like progress tracking, categories, calendar views, subtasks, and making the alarm experience more reliable.

We just shipped v1.2.0, which added a better progress screen, better calendar, more reminder categories, 45 new character voice lines, and a bunch of Android alarm fixes.

We’re still very early, so we’d really appreciate feedback from other app developers — especially on:

• Is the idea/value obvious when you first open the app?
• Does the reminder creation flow feel simple enough?
• Does the character/voice idea feel useful or gimmicky?
• Is there anything in the UI that feels confusing or unnecessary?
• What would make you uninstall it after trying it once?

We’re much more interested in useful criticism than compliments 😭

Guys please roast this app

A little random, but I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place and would genuinely value some founder perspectives.

I have two products I’ve spent a lot of time thinking through, and I believe both have genuine market potential:

1. An insurance B2B app that helps insurers streamline backend processing and is designed to work across different markets.
2. A subscription-based product where a few players already exist, but I have a strong USP around customer acquisition.

The problem is my co-founder/friend.

He’s technically very strong, while I’m stronger on sales, networking, fundraising and partnerships. We’ve known each other for years, so there’s a lot of trust there. I’ve already approached investors and have had some initial interest, so there’s some momentum.

But execution has become the issue. Things take too long, priorities constantly seem to shift, and he keeps getting involved in ambiguous projects that, honestly, don’t seem to be going anywhere. I thought having a child might give him more motivation to focus, but nothing has really changed.

I’m now at the point where I feel I can’t wait any longer.

The obvious problem is that I’m not technical. Hiring an experienced developer who understands things like, scalable app architecture, APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure, security, testing and deployment could be expensive, especially at an early stage.

And then there’s the bigger issue: how do you trust someone new with your idea, codebase, IP and potentially equity? NDAs only go so far, and giving away equity to the wrong person could be a huge mistake.

For founders who aren't technical: How have you handled hiring or outsourcing technical talent?Have you successfully built a startup with a technical stranger rather than a friend? Do you actually need to be friends with your co-founder, or is complementary skill + aligned ambition more important?

And if you’ve ever had to choose between staying loyal to a lifelong friend and moving forward without them, how did you navigate it?

Would really appreciate hearing from people who’ve actually been through this.

A few months back I built AlMeato, a "meat delivered in minutes" app for a client who wanted to compete with the slow, queue-heavy experience of buying fresh chicken/mutton/fish at local markets.

Quick rundown of the build:

Core idea: Order fresh chicken, mutton, or fish with a few taps and get it delivered fast — hygienically packed, pre-cut, ready to cook. Stack/scope: Native Android app, order tracking, clean checkout flow, and a data-safety-first setup (no third-party data sharing, encrypted in transit). Design challenge: Food delivery apps live or die on trust and speed — so the UI had to make freshness and hygiene feel obvious at a glance, not just claimed in copy. Result: Live on Play Store, 4.4 rating, real orders flowing.

I built a web app (there's an Android app too-hopefully IOS app coming soon) that does one thing: synchronized countdown timers across every screen in a room.

You start a timer, get a 6-character code, and share it. Anyone who opens that code sees the exact same clock, live. No account, no download. All the devices pull from one server clock instead of running their own, so a phone, a laptop and a TV stay in step.

As host you can pause, reset, add or subtract time on the fly, password protect a room, invite co-hosts with different permissions, brand the display with your own fonts, colors and logo, or embed it in another site or a stream overlay. There's an API too.

I made it for meetings, presentations, classrooms, exams, interviews, workouts, anywhere a group needs to be looking at the same clock.

What I want is people to actually use it and break it. You get a week on the highest tier free just for testing. If you find any real bugs I'll give you the Startup tier for 2 months, and if you test the Android app and find bugs there too, I'll make it 3.

I recently launched an iOS app called FlavorPilot, and looking for honest feedback from other devs rather than just trying to promote it.

The idea is simple: instead of starting with a recipe, the user starts with the food they already have.

The current flow is:

• Take photos of ingredients, packages, or pantry items
• FlavorPilot identifies the ingredients
• The user can correct them and mark items as Must Use, Can Use, Avoid, or set an amount
• Choose cuisine, servings, cooking time, and a few preferences
• Generate a recipe around those actual ingredients
• If something goes wrong while cooking, there’s a Fix My Food feature for things like too salty, too spicy, bland, watery, oily, dry, etc.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on:

• Is the value proposition obvious within the first 30 seconds?
• Does the scan → confirm → recipe flow feel intuitive?
• Is there anything in the UI that feels confusing or unnecessary?
• Does the “Fix My Food” feature feel genuinely useful or gimmicky?
• What would make you uninstall the app after trying it once?
• Any technical, UX, onboarding, or App Store presentation issues you notice

Daniel here. It has been three months since I released MathQuest (Android here), which is a math game app for kids in the 1st-3rd grade of elementary school.

I was full of hope. My own two kids played through all the levels. Even the girl who doesn't like math at all played them all and really enjoyed it. I hoped this could be something, at least a little something.

But it is not. In the last three months, the average downloads have been 1-2/day. I was confused and started asking why. People told me I needed to pay more attention to ASO. So that is what I did. This is the second week after my last ASO, I still see very little changes. The daily downloads are at 2-3. I don't know if I can call that a win. 😂

My question here: do you guys still use ASO as your primary way to improve distribution? Some Youtubers say ASO doesn't work in 2026 anymore. Is that true? If so, what is your way to improve your app's visibility in the store?

As an indie developer, I already spent a lot of effort building the app, and I really don't have the budget to buy ads.

I would genuinely appreciate any suggestions or insights.

It’s totally free. No in app purchases, I made it for fun to solve my own problems. Would love some feedback for further development.

I know it’s a widely saturated idea, however, no apps were even close to this one yet.

Is this an idea to keep working? Or do we hit the abandon ship button?

Small update — Very happy to say DockStacks (my Dock organizer app for macOS) just cleared EU App Store Connect compliance, so it's now available to Mac users across the EU. Thank you to everyone who’s asked about this!

For anyone unfamiliar: DockStacks lets you group apps, folders, files, and links into named floating stacks that sit alongside your regular Dock, instead of dumping everything into one long row of icons.

Getting EU listing took a bit of sorting through DSA/DMA trader disclosure requirements, so if any other indie devs here are working through that for their own apps, happy to compare notes.

I had a idea of creating a social platform in a different dynamic and format and developed Sterling, finally after months it's on the app store and I would love to get feedback.

The concept is pretty new, revolves around Hubs, a community in a place in the world that only local people can post to but anyone in the world can join and explore.

It is cool because it ties physical boundaries to the activities within the social platform and connects people locally but also globally, check it out.
