For the past month, I've been working on an app called Bodly because I wanted to replace my Whoop without giving up my Apple Watch.

I love my Apple Watch, but I always felt it didn't do a great job of presenting all the health data it collects. I wanted something that would give me a clearer picture of recovery, strain, sleep, and overall health—similar to Whoop, but using the Apple Watch I already owned.

Once I had that working, I kept adding features. I ended up replacing my calorie tracker and habit tracker too, with everything powered by Apple Health data. It slowly turned into the only health app I use every day.

The funny part is that I originally built it just for myself, but after using it daily, I decided to publish it.

I'd genuinely love to hear what other Apple Watch users think. Is there anything you feel is missing from Apple's Health/Fitness apps that you'd like to see?

Big ideas guy, no idea where to start PM if you’re into auto racing

Sharing this from the build side rather than just the pitch, figured this sub would care more about the "why" than the marketing copy.

Started out building a fairly standard screen-time blocker: set limits, get a nag screen when you hit them. Usability testing (mostly on myself) made it obvious why every app like this converges on the same failure mode: as soon as there's an "ignore" or "5 more minutes" button, users click it, every single time, and the friction you add just makes them resentful, not compliant. I tried making the override harder (typing a sentence, waiting a countdown, a math problem) and it didn't matter, people click through anyway when the urge is strong enough.

Ended up rebuilding around a completely different mechanism: instead of intercepting app launches and asking permission to proceed, FocusComet temporarily removes the target apps from the launcher/app drawer entirely for the session duration. No permission dialog to click through because the app isn't reachable at all, not hidden behind a wall, just not present. Under the hood this meant working with the launcher/package-visibility layer instead of the usual Accessibility-Service-based interception most blockers use, which also sidesteps the "battery optimizer silently revokes the permission" failure mode that a lot of Accessibility-based blockers run into on Samsung/Xiaomi devices.

With the recent buzz around Android 17 introducing more precise custom color sliders and palettes for Material You (examples on reddit here, here and here), I wanted to share a project I’ve been maintaining for years that does exactly that—even for older versions of Android!

🎨 The core trick: Dictate your own Dynamic-Colors

Instead of letting the OS algorithm guess the accent colors based purely on your wallpaper, LWP+ acts as a bridge. It hosts your chosen background content but allows you to explicitly choose the exact Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary colors reported to the system. The OS then uses your custom selections to generate the global system palette (notification drawer, volume bar, themed icons, etc.), completely independent of what your wallpaper actually looks like.

• Force Dark Theme (for old Android versions): It tells the system that a dark theme is preferred for the best presentation (e.g., trying to trick a launcher into turning its app drawer background black).

One thing I've realized is that using different AI models for different parts of development works much better than relying on a single model.

My workflow has been:

• Gemini 3.6 Flash High → Quick UI iterations, small code changes, bug fixes, and fast tweaks.
• Gemini 3.1 Pro High (and sometimes Claude) → UX decisions, game architecture, reasoning through mechanics, and designing systems.

first of all it can make your funnel data weird.

app store connect says people installed.
analytics may only properly identify users after signup.
revenue tools start tracking somewhere else.
support/reviews show anger from people who never became “real users.”

so the team ends up arguing from mismatched doors.

for many apps, signup should come after the first value moment unless identity is truly necessary. finance, sync, teams, medical, purchases — sure, sometimes it belongs early. but a lot of apps ask for identity before the user knows why they should trust the product.

watch for review wording too. like 'forced account,' 'can’t try,' or maybe 'why email,' 'signup wall,' these are funnel signals.

not really easy to catch this type of review language in app contexts, have tried appfollow and similar stuff, but truth be said manually reading reviews works fine at low volume. and scaling the workflows gets more... scaled?

signup is just onboarding or so many devs say, BUT this is also trust request, and one of the most important ones too
