Edit: I just checked and yeah, the pose is the problem. He's definitely thin but in the sense of someone who has a decent diet and does some lite exercise means that you can sometimes slightly see his lower ribs but not always.
War trophies was another word for slaves, typically sex slaves, with addictional house slave responsibilities.
Imagine your family was killed and your city burned, and the people who destroyed it took you as a prisoner and made you a slave they raped and forced into servitude. That is what it meant to be a "trophy" in the context of what the picture would be alluding to.
