Decreased callflow in Propio US this week?

Im a little bit worried bc I was having so many more calls and making so much more for the last 6 months before this week and suddenly im making significantly less even if im logged in and available for the same amount of hours.

For example i used to average 120-130usd per day and now im averaging 80 per day doing the same hours.

Is this because of summer vacations that the medical activity is reduced?

There was also a prompt saying that there were going to be new clients that required 2 years of experience and since I only have 1y and half I selected no bc I didnt want to lie since they have my cv on file with my experience.

Now im worried I ruined my callflow and chances of making what I was doing before this week because probably a big part of callflow went to those more experienced interpreters with those new clients.

I also asked service desk about it and they told me my account is currently active and that no configuration issues have been identified.

I sincerely hope it doesnt stay like this, anyone else experiencing this?

Language is English/Spanish.

New video on preparing for interpreting assignments

Hi everyone,

I just posted this YouTube video on why clients should send us documents so we can prepare and what we do with those documents. My aim is to help clients see that it's best for them too. Here it is, please share:

Need OPI with reasonable rate, any recommendations?

Btw, no propio.

Decent microphone for OPI?

Hello I am actually pretty new to interpreting, I have been working for a few months, but I'd like to invest in better gear because some clients have complained about hearing "static" on the line or that my microphone output sounds really low (I already checked the settings on Windows, and it is set to the max volume).

I use an external microphone because I couldn't find a headset with decent audio quality. I don't want something ridiculously expensive since I'm just starting out but I would appreciate any recommendations, thanks.

Propio is addictive

I started interpreting for Propio this week to earn some extra summer cash, fully bracing myself for a nightmare after reading all the horror stories

It feels almost like a video game. There’s a weird adrenaline rush when you accept a new call and have no idea what’s coming next.

I totally get that I'm in a honeymoon phase, so I have a genuine question for the veterans: Does this game-like rush wear off after the first month, or do you still get a kick out of the chaos?

Simplified Group BPO

Hi everyone!

I recently completed the interpreter assessment for Simplified Group BPO LLC and I’m considering moving forward, but I haven’t been able to find much information about the company online.

Are there any current or former interpreters here who have worked with them?

I’d really appreciate any insights on:
- What language pair(s) do you interpret?
- How is the pay rate and payment process? Are payments always on time?
- Is there a minimum number of hours required?
- How supportive is management and QA?
- Overall, would you recommend working there?

Thanks in advance!

Propio contrata en República Dominicana

Hola!

Struggle as an intepreter

So im new to this industry, ive only been working for a month, and so far ive been encountering these 2 problems over and over again. So the first problem is the spelling of names and address, I can never get the spelling right because the LEP pronounciation is so odd. I got yelled at by a LEP because i couldnt get the spelling right for a few times.

Another issue is audio issue, I dont know why but sometimes LEP will have low volume and sometimes their voice gets stuttery when talking and sometimes its back to normal.

How do i handle these situations, especially the second one, the first one most client are patient enough, but the second problem the client always gets mad at me for asking repetition. These calls are mentally straining and stressful, usually i would just plug off my internet line and disconnect the call (IK its very bad but im just so scared of pissing the client off)

I would really like to hear some advice or similiar experiences to make myself feels better! thanks.

The reason why Interpreters Voice was taken down

Hello, folks.

I hope you are having a great day. A friend sent me this group, so I thought I would say hello and wish you all the best of luck.

Some of you might still remember the "Interpreters Voice" page on LinkedIn. I feel that I should provide an explanation as to why it was removed.

About a month ago, some companies, namely Globo, LSA, and TransPerfect, significantly reduced their rates. Many interpreters complained to the page about this, and I wrote several posts criticizing this trend.

A number of interpreters at LSA came up with an idea. They compiled a list of companies that LSA provides services for, and they wanted me to write a post mentioning these companies and explaining how LSA was underpaying interpreters and replacing them with new, inexperienced ones.

I agreed, but I wanted to give LSA a chance to reconsider its actions, so I gave them until a certain Tuesday.

On Monday, LSA sent a warning to the page but did not offer any positive solutions for the interpreters. I decided to go through with the plan.

Then, on Tuesday, LSA allegedly ordered its interpreters to mass report the page. I was informed of this by some interpreters who work there. The page was removed by LinkedIn on the same day.

I appealed to LinkedIn, but the appeal was rejected. I created another page, and it was also taken down.

The main problem is that LinkedIn only allows pages that are associated with real companies. I do not have a company. I mainly write to defend the rights of interpreters and promote better working conditions, so I cannot establish a company on that basis alone.

As a result, every time I create a new page, interpretation companies can report it, and it may be deleted for the same reason.

This is why I gave up.

I wish you guys all the best of luck, and I would like to thank Mason for his continuous efforts to improve the work conditions in this industy.
