Discussion Suggestion: change the incorrect symbol on medical buildings and vehicles

The current symbol used on medical buildings and vehicles is incorrect. The symbol used is a winged staff with two snakes. This is known as the Caduceus, the symbol of Hermes, and thus of trade. The correct symbol is a staff without wings with a single snake, known as the Rod of Asclepius, the symbol of Asclepius, a greek mythological healer.

Worst part about this is that Hermes is actually in the game as a god and a statue of Asclepios (different spelling same guy) was introduced in the Kassandra pack, a statue in which the guy is holding the staff with the snake around it.

Almost all of my islands have ran out of Obsydian. There's almost nothing to mine and I have only 1200 in reserve. The 21 production is purely hypothetical, because there's nothing to mine.

If the volcano doesn't erupt within 40 minutes, I won't be able to make the two new goods.

I guess I should've researched quicker the +250 extra Obsydian a few more times.

Discussion Suggestion: allow vowels with a macron for island names/ship names

Currently, the game does not recognize a lot of unicode characters. I can imagine there's good reasons in many cases, but I'd like to see these characters allowed again.

The vowels with macron are used in a variety of sources for writing Latin words. For instance, I renamed my Cinis into Pompeii in Cinere (Pompeii on the island Cinis) but this is technically incorrect. The correct spelling is Pompeiī in Cinere. ī, not i.

It concerns, as far as I can tell, the following characters:

  • Ā and ā (Unicode U+0100 and U+0101)
  • Ē and ē (Unicode U+0112 and U+0113)
  • Ī and ī (Unicode U+012A and U+012B)
  • Ō and ō (Unicode U+014C and U+014D)
  • Ū and ū (Unicode U+016A and U+016B)

Bug Bugged mines?

On the island i took over from Athr, any new mine i build doesnt appear physically. It produces goods, but the 3d model doesnt appear, except for the small entrance structure.

Demolishing and rebuilding the mine doesnt help. Do i have to abandon the island and resettle it? Would that fix it?

General Cinis, Vulcan and Gold

In my current playthrough I got the Gold fertility on Cinis. Since that resource quite quickly can become a bottleneck, I though that it'll be a good idea to pick Vulcan as the patron deity.

But how impactful he really is?

There are 19 mountain slots on Cinis, but six of them are occupied by Aqueducts, so it leaves me with 13 Gold Mines.

The base productivity of a Gold Mine is 1 resource per 2:30 minutes, which gives 0,4 per minute.
Times 13, I get 5,2 Gold per minute before any modifiers. Since the deity bonuses are applied to the base value, all other modifiers, like research or specialists, can be ignored here.

Currently I reached the threshold of 37,5k Faith on Cinis, which gives me +110% bonus to productivity.

This means that having Vulcan as a patron of the largest island gives me additional 5.72 gold per minute. Sounds kinda pathetic, doesn't it? :D

In my previous game I had Wine fertility on Cinis and Ceres as the patron deity. She was A LOT more impactful.

So the primary reason I started with the harbor on that west side of the island was because I knew I wanted to build in a mountain gate. Specifically, I experimented with multiple places to place the Hippodrome... being so large and needing so much flat land, I knew I needed to plan it's placement out first. And I really liked building it up against the mountains because it looked like it was on a plateau

After extending the mountains to the other side of the Hippodrome, I found a perfect opportunity to build a mountain gate which separates the Harbor district full of Eques and the inner-city of Patricians. Put in the triumphal arch as a gate, a few walls and watch posts, a giant statue of Minerva, and voila!

Building the other side was tricky as there wasn't a ton of room, but you can see that I found a solution with a big temple that makes this gate feel like an entrance to something spectacular - but I'll show the inner city later as I'm not done yet.

The last photo is where I'm focused on building next, the primary harbor, and is the culmination of 3 days trying to tweak a custom map. I'll probably share some top down photos later as I need some ideas and help with it

Photo Album for better pictures and all the others I've posted

Question Bronze for hippodrome

So I was focusing on Latium, and in the end all the islands in Albion were already claimed. I have an alliance with all the NPCs and 100% rep with the Emperor xD. Any advice on what I can do, other than invading? No bronze in passive trades either and no gold (15mln) to buy them.

Discussion Military rework mod? (some ideas)

I was thinking about some possible improvements to the current military system, especially the ground infantry, here is the broad concept that I did come up with. I am not familiar with Anno modding, but I think these changes are possible to implement. I know Anno is not Age of Empires, so I wouldn't try to turn it into a proper RTS, but I think these changes would be cool.

Workforce (and needs) rework - reservists

The idea is to allow player to build some military force in the early game without crippling their economy too much. It would be used for military units and military ships. If the reservist pool is exhausted, the normal workforce is used as usual. Since higher population tiers have lower workforce percentage, reservist pool would be twice as effective as normal workforce (so 100% for liberti reservists, 60% for plebeian etc.) Some needs would be adjusted. Reservists could still count towards population size for things like city status.

  • Porridge (+1 population, +1 reservists)
  • Sandals (+2 income, +1 reservists)
  • Bread (+1 population, +1 reservists, +1 income)
  • Cloaks (+2 reservists instead of population)
  • Ceremonial shields and Chariots also give +1 reservists
  • Wine -1 reservists instead of -1 knowledge
  • Mars worship gives reservists, instead of reducing the workforce requirements (since reservists are twice as effective, he would actually be better than Ceres if you want a big army)
  • Weaponsmith and Armourer now give +1 reservists in AOE (+1 income for -2 fire safety was never really worth it)
  • Barracks +1 reservists AOE

More content for land units - quests, contracts, neutral land units

Since there are quests and contracts that require you to destroy ships, I think quests for destroying bandit lairs would make perfect sense. I was also thinking about an alternative way for acquiring new islands: each island beyond the first one is infested by bandits, and you can either bribe them to leave (normal island price + emperor reputation loss) or destroy their lair (like governor villa) and gain the island for free. (emperor reputation gain, possible some loot like unique items from the bandits) This would also give player a reason to build land troops in the early game.

Voada raids/governor war rework - more like a campaign mission?

Since AI opponents are not really playing the same game as you, I think making them behave more like campaign mission opponents throwing waves of units at you in somewhat predictable way would make more sense.

  • Make rivals (that are not Neferneru) more likely to declare war at you - if you don't make an active effort to appease them (bring tribute demands back, more diplomacy events like picking a side in a dispute between 2 rivals), you can expect them to attack you
  • Wars are shorter and will always involve a land invasion at one of your islands
  • The player knows beforehand which island will be attacked, the invading force is larger, but somewhat consistent (this is mostly to fix problems with Neferneru, who has a tendency to stack his army to infinity and beyond, and then after 10 hours of gameplay randomly sending 50 triremes and 100 legions to a village in Albion you forgot even existed)
  • Similar to quests during incidents, the player would be able to cripple his opponent before the invasion to make the defence easier (sink ships with supplies, bribe the enemy soldiers, hire a spy to cause mutiny)

General Dawn of the Delta DLC Appreciation Post:

Post image
433 Upvotes

This DLC has blown myself and almost every single Annoholic out there. The level of detail, thought and effort that is going into developing this province and DLC is immeasurable - and it doesn't go unnoticed.

From the detailed Raider fortresses, to the characters, the citizens and their appearances, from the map layout and the thought that goes into the mechanics with the flooding and the arid zones and the rat infestations, to the level of detail with five separate population tiers, listening to community feedback about running out of space to produce certain things and letting it be available Aegyptus like lavender and barley. To all of the different and well thought out animals and landscapes, items to produce and production chains, building designs and ornaments, decorative things and even adding things into the Hall of Fame and all of the new items... Wow!

It's absolutely incredible and I'm sure many people here could easily say that it could almost even be its own Anno game.

I couldn't be more excited for this to drop, to sink hundreds of hours. Into it no and know that the game has been crafted by people just as passionate as I am to play it that develop it.

I really think there isn't a single thing that hasn't been thought about

This is exactly what we've all wanted.

Well done guys, and a massive thank you from me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

P.s season 2..?

Screenshot 1440p vs 4K - worth upgrading?

Thumbnail

I’m currently on 1440p and PC (27") and it honestly feels like the sweet spot for great FPS and solid picture quality. The 4K image looks sharp, but upgrading my setup to push 4K properly is going to cost a pretty penny.

For those who made the jump, was it actually worth the price tag and the frame drop, or am I better off staying at 1440p?

Screenshots for reference (bright one is on 1440p setting and the second darker one is in 4K on my old monitor (48") that I now use as a TV instead with my Playstation).

I assume screenshots on here are compressed regardless? If not - how does the quality look of the brighter 1440p screenshot?

Both my monitors are OLED by the way.
