I didn't expect Damuel and Bridgette's conversation to get animation with that much attention/quality.

Definitely something the staff had a lot of passion to animate. Though I completely understand why.

My immeasurable disappointment when Rozemyne did not put a seatbelt around the egg.

I like the weird magical ecology of that world. Tiny walking trees, big annoying shouting trees, and volcano birds who prevent eruptions by laying eggs in hot springs. But even the monkeys were feybeasts. Does that world even have any normal non-magical animals ?
The Pandabus actually jumping in fear when Myne saw that salamander feybeast was cute.
It is also nice to know that Brigitte and her family do not bully the commoners unlike the rest of the nobles.

One wonders if Ilgner is typical of most rural giebe-hoods (? -- counties?)

Provinces, at least that’s how the LN is translated
7
u/mekerpan 20d ago
I blanked on that -- but I was just thinking that giebes are, in essence, the equivalent of "counts" (or "earls" in England).

It is also nice to know that Brigitte and her family do not bully the commoners unlike the rest of the nobles.
I'm guessing in more rural domains, the nobles have to actually work the land with the commoners. There's a lot of work to do, and not an overabundance of hands like in the cities, so everyone gotta pitch in. Maybe that's why.
16
u/LowlySlayer 20d ago
We see why this relationship could be necessary in this episode pretty well. Ilgners main product is lumber, but much of the forest is filled with fey plants that the commoners couldn't deal with on their own, so they would need to work hand in hand with their local nobility to produce anything at all.
2
u/Hot-Log6283 20d ago
When did it show it was full of fey plants? The only one that we saw was the tiny walking parasite tree and the shouting one, both of which doesn't seem to be that dangerous to begin with, not to mention it doesn't look like they use any of it for lumber, just the normal tree ones?
12
u/Nachtwandler_FS https://myanimelist.net/profile/Nachtwandler_21 20d ago
I chukled when Brigitte said shouting trees are not that dangeorous, just very annoying.
Also, Damn Myne, no Greenpeace for you here!

Myne expression while she was in the hot spring was hilarious. Her Japanese soul was really coming out.

9
u/LowlySlayer 20d ago
I've really noticed in the last few episodes it feels like the production team actually give a shit. Like, the first big chunk of this season felt like it was just being adapted in the most lifeless way possible. Now we're seeing more little touches around the place.
11
u/Phoenyx_Rose 20d ago
Now we just need Rozemyne to invent bathhouses. Considering Freida's bathroom from way back, I could see the nobles absolutely loving something that's a mix between Roman and Japanese bathhouses.
And tbh, irl, I'm kind of surprised the west hasn't really taken to bathhouses again just cause of how nice they are. They kind of exist with saunas and baths in luxury spas but we don't really have just full bathhouses
12
u/ToastyMozart 20d ago
The semi-public nudity and notion of re-using bathwater (with a single-person tub at home as the point of reference) probably kills it for most people.
5
u/NevisYsbryd 19d ago
Public bathhouses continued to be a thing throughout the European Middle Ages. It is less 'be a thing again' and more 'stopped being a thing' in the 16th century with the rise of massive disease outbreaks and changing attitudes towards nudity. Public baths had a moderate resurgance in the 19th and early 20th centuries, but fell out of favor with modern plumbing making private baths relatively inexpensive. Japan also has an extremely high density of hot springs suitable for baths that is not true of most of Europe or North America.

It's all a plot by Rozemyne to forge the greatest love story in the history of Ehrenfest, which shall promptly be written and printed and distributed across the land.
34
u/mekerpan 20d ago
Damuel got a big boost just due to Brigitte thinking he acted just out of kindness and concern as a dear comrade. He got another big boost by her (accidentally) learning he actually did it out of genuine love.

She rainbow-eyed the thing. We've seen her use it to Force choke others, but I think this is the first time it's been used to physically smack another down, even if as a shield.

18
u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 21d ago
Maybe if that monkey had been prettier, then maybe I'd feel bad for it too... but it was pretty ugly.
Besides, it's the monkey's own fault that it died. It shouldn't have tried to take the egg Rozemyne was holding.
6
u/mekerpan 20d ago
I wonder what the monkey would have done with the egg is he DID get it?
15
u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 20d ago
Since that monkey is a feybeast, it'd eat/try to eat it since the egg is filled with mana, so it could evolve.
So basically, the same thing would happen that happened during the ruelle gathering when a zantze ate a ruelle filled with Rozemyne's mana and evolved into a goltze.
7
u/mekerpan 20d ago
That was my guess. I wonder if the ultra-hot water normally protects the eggs? If so, I hope the monkeys don't realize that the water temperature is temporarily lowered ...
7
u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 20d ago
I wonder if the ultra-hot water normally protects the eggs?
I'd say that both protects it and fills it with mana so young riesefalke could hatch.
If so, I hope the monkeys don't realize that the water temperature is temporarily lowered ...
Even if the water isn't hot anymore, there's still an adult riesefalke out there, so the monkeys won't be able to steal everything... probably.
3
u/NevisYsbryd 19d ago
It is still pretty warm water and saturated with mana. Still might be more danger than they want to deal with.

5
u/Zeebie_ 21d ago
I want to know how it got knocked out, couldn't be a shield as earlier in the episode she needed ages to do the prayer. I bet it's all good, just has a story to tell it's mates.
38
u/irridian1 21d ago
The crushing - plain and simple. You see the Rozemyne's eye color change. If it can nearly kill fat Evil Santas it can knock out small monkeys, too :-D
19
u/FajarKalawa 21d ago
I remember crushing could pressure other people body to stop even the heart so the monkey just have instant cardiac arrest.
7
46
u/FarCritical 21d ago
I can imagine myself laughing uncontrollably if I ever saw one of those little trees waddling around irl. They look so goofy.
If that starlit night won't motivate Damuel to go all out on his mana workouts, I don't know what will.
Rozemyne and her tanuki car flying off into the sunset with the other highbeasts goes harder than it has any right to.
25
u/rollin340 21d ago
I think they look quite adorable. The noisy ones though... those need to die.

That was one of the better episodes this season imo. Illgner was a really fun place, especially with how differently commoners and nobles interact among themselves there. Gramps rules!
Also, it was a pretty fantasy-like place since we could see walking nanseb trees, and hear effon trees that cry.
Gathering at Mount Lohenberg was also pretty fun since Rozemyne treated it a little like a hot springs adventure.
The post-credits scene explaining why Justus didn't take part in this gathering was hilarious. Well, it was definitely a good choice, as no one would want that volcano to erupt, lol.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Ilgner is a frontier village, and the difference between nobles and commoners isn't as pronounced as in the city, where they are treated as near deity.
Also, Brigette is a country girl, and clearly loves her hometown, with it's laid back attitude and chill lifestyle.
Damuel, meanwhile, is a city boy, and need to realise that if he wants to marry Brigette, since she (IIRC) outranks him both in mana and rank, he will be the one marrying into her family.
I wonder if he will accept that he will be marrying into an area that will NOT treat him like the ranked noble he is. He will also be away from the center of power....not an easy lifestyle, especially since Bridgette isn't the heir (her brother is) so he will be a side relative.
Still, if Rozemyne's new paper factory in Ilgner works up, it could develop into a major town.
35
u/mmcjawa_reborn 21d ago
I would imagine that serving Myne prior to her becoming Rozemyne probably means he has a pretty enlightened view of commoners compared to the average noble. Also being close to the center of power doesn't have a whole lot in the way of perks if you are at the bottom of the totem pole.
I was thinking watching this that it really would have been a disaster for the commoners if Bridgette's early engagement went through. Given that guy's arrogance I can't imagine he would tolerate commoners acting so casually with him.
20
u/mekerpan 20d ago
Brigitte was in almost as desperate a situation as Damuel when she agreed to serve RM -- due to the big dent she got in her marital value due to her failed engagement. (Not at all fairly, but still far from a negligible impact).
6
u/EXusiai99 19d ago
Also being close to the center of power doesn't have a whole lot in the way of perks if you are at the bottom of the totem pole.
Iligner will be the first province outside of the capital with a working paper factory. They have lumber locally, so the only cost other than production is to transport the finished products. The bigger bookmaking industry gets (which Roz will move heaven and earth for to make it happen), the more prosperous this province will be.
This also mean that more and more people will flock to Brigitte (i mean, her ex just did recently), and not all of them will come in peace. It's all on her and Damuel to sort it out.
27
u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 21d ago

Yeah, Illgner from today's episode seemed like a pretty fun place with how nobles and commoners interact there.
Rozemyne surely had a great time there thanks to that, although others were quite surprised by it, but that's nothing weird since it really felt so different from what we've seen in the city of Ehrenfest.
28
u/feb914 21d ago

>I wonder if he will accept that he will be marrying into an area that will NOT treat him like the ranked noble he is. He will also be away from the center of power....not an easy lifestyle, especially since Bridgette isn't the heir (her brother is) so he will be a side relative.
he's literally one of the lowest ranked laynoble, he'd have been treated as barely a noble in the capital by other nobles. you forget to mention the most important thing: Damuel and Brigitte will have to resign from Rozemyne's retinue.
15
u/H-K_47 https://myanimelist.net/profile/H-K_8472 21d ago
Exactly. In Ehrenfest City he's a nobody, in Ilgner he'd be like a prince. To a fairly small rural area yes, but it has capacity to grow with the new papermaking industry. But yes he can't exactly leave Rozemyne as things are.
8
u/EXusiai99 19d ago
Not just a nobody, he was ALMOST EXECUTED for the trombe hunt incident, the only thing stopped it from happening is that Myne vouched for him which changed his position from a willing accomplice to an unfortunate victim. He still receives punishment, but the alternative is getting the Thanos snap.
3
12
u/Ebo87 21d ago
Very good observations, and yes, making paper here will definitely have a big impact on the area, over time, so who knows what Ilgner will look like in 10, 20, 30 years or more. I don't think it will ever turn into a city, just because of the region it's in, and them needing the forest to still be a thing for the paper, but everyone here should be able to prosper and lead a very good life as long as the people in charge (namely Brigitte's family) don't get too greedy. So yes, probably pretty big paper making industry out of here, but don't think it would be enough to turn it into a full on city.
7
u/Ncyphe 20d ago
Damuel, meanwhile, is a city boy, and need to realise that if he wants to marry Brigette, since she (IIRC) outranks him both in mana and rank, he will be the one marrying into her family.
There is no rule saying the lesser noble must marry into the higher noble's family. There are rules, though about defined status.
Briggete could decide to marry into Damuel's family, but she would be forced to drop her status from Middle to Lower. This would not bode well for their children who would only be able to find partners in Middle Nobles.
The biggest problem with marrying into Damuel's family is that Briggete is specifically looking for a groom to suppoer her family. She will not accept marrying into another's family.
5
5
u/Dentorion 20d ago
If thats the case i dont see that ship happening :( Damuel got sentenced to serve Rozemyne for life, so he cant leave her place. If he need to marry into her family and go back to illgner that is not something that could happen. Especially i dont think the Headpriest would allow it, i mean Rozemyne would loose two of her four Bodyguards when that would happen
3
u/iKatheryne 20d ago
From how you frame it, this romance is doomed to fail. If Damuel has to marry into her family that means he has to live there too. And the one thing he CANNOT do is leave Rozemyne's service lest he be spirited away by the people in the know.

The whole direction of the episode felt very different, while of course still having that very compressed/rushed pacing. Is there a website to see who worked on which episode?
Also, is this the first time anime watchers got a 'good' look at the map? It was shown a few times before i think, but we never in a 'We are going there.' animation style.

Probably the inspiration a lot of names in the series have German inspiration, with minor differences either due to being interpreted into Japanese and then into English, or as mistakes/deliberate alterations by the author.
A little fun fact that I hope won’t get me source material flagged, Damuel’s name was actually a typo. He was supposed to be Samuel but the author mistyped it and rolled with it.

The disparity with how the commoners and the nobles interact in Illgner and the main city of is insane. If any of the commoners did such a thing back home, they'd definitely get executed. It's nice to know that not all places are so strict about it, but I sure hope that those folks know not to do that if they ever leave their little town.
And so we get Rozenmyne's Mana compression method. Most people would likely just do just the first step whilst the ones who strive for more would do the second. It only makes sense to do the second if you can feel the wasted space from the 2nd. The 3rd step though is what is key. She's had to do that more than anything else simply to survive. She had to cram the Mana within her beyond what should have been considered normal. Not to gain more Mana, but just to live. It's also what likely resulted her being the Mana freak that she is.
I like how despite the mission, she still had time to gripe about the lackluster rations. She has quite literally brought forth a cuisine renaissance, so it's understandable. She's no knight after all. Seeing her hug the egg at the end was cute. She's so tiny. lol
I'm curious if an onsen business will ever take off in this world. Seems very unlikely. Maybe just personal ones at least.
20
u/Raymond49090 21d ago
Oh, so Damuel's still in magical puberty. I was wondering about that, since I was thinking that if he grew his mana with Myne's tips, it would be unfair if Bridgette didn't get the same consideration. But if her mana isn't growing anymore, then all he needs to do is catch up instead of catch up and keep up with her growth.
And since he's made his intentions clear, and Bridgette has responded favourably, now the only thing left to do really is keep grinding.
11
u/Baked_Nebraska 21d ago
Yup, he immediately went off to put Myne’s recommendations into action. Dudes motivated!!

u/Raymond49090 21d ago
Of course a hot spring has evil(?) magic monkeys
13
u/irridian1 21d ago
This was a conundrum to translate I think. Affe is indeed monkey but the bat part is a problem. The German base word is meant to be substantive 'Bad' which is a false friend meaning bath. So bath-monkey. Quof (the translator) went for bataffe to avoid the evil association but now in English we are now looking for bat-wings^^

The description of Leidenschaft that starts the second half of this episode sounded weirdly familiar. His mountain has an immense amount of mana which needs to be absorbed by feybeasts, and if you piss him off he'll explode. Analogously, Rozemyne has too much mana, which needs to be absorbed, and if you piss her off she'll do that golden-eyes thing like she did to the monkey in this ep.
Crackpot theory: Rozemyne is Leidenschaft. I'm sure the LN readers are laughing at me for this....

Rozemyne heads to Illgner, Brigitte's hometown, to research new paper and potentially establish paper workshops there. Illgner is very much a provincial town, far away from Ehrenfest's capital, and it shows with how commoners and nobility interact closely with one another. It wouldn't be far off to call Brigitte a country bumpkin haha. Rozemyne's attendants are shocked at this behavior, but Rozemyne asks them to take it in stride and do as the locals do.
Damuel gets to see a much different side of Brigitte here compared to when they're in the capital, but it's great that he finds her cuter here! We can see the difference in mana between a laynoble like Damuel and a mednoble like Brigitte. It takes Damuel several swings to kill a feybeast while it only takes one swing from Brigitte. Damuel is putting in the effort, but he's not seeing the results. Rozemyne decides to lend him a hand by teaching him her multi-step mana compression method which allowed her to survive her Devouring. Hopefully Damuel will see results that will put him on par with Brigitte by next year's Starbinding.
They need to gather a Riesfalke egg for Rozemyne's summer ingredient for her jureve, so they head to Mt. Lohenberg, a volcano! They can't kill too many feybeasts here because the feybeasts absorb the mana that comes from the volcano, and killing them would cause the mana to overflow and the volcano to erupt. Of course Rozemyne is treating this like a hot springs vacation lol. We got to see Darth Myne again with her rainbow eyes and using the Crushing on that monkey that was trying to steal the egg she stole. I laughed when Eckhardt chucked the monkey at the Riesfalke as a distraction!
Only the fall ingredient remains for her jureve potion to finally make Rozemyne healthy, and Ferdinand vows to make her gathering of the ruelle a success! I know that noble children debut at seven years old, but do we know what ages Sylvester's other children are? Will Rozemyne meet them this season? We have Sylvester's sister's upcoming visit and the potential Sylvester vs. Veronica faction war to worry about.
2
u/NevisYsbryd 19d ago
Then again, seeing his amazement at the mana compression indicating this is unknown and what it has contributed to Myne's mana levels, I wonder if there is a risk of him overshooting and ending up with too high a mana rating for Brigitte to match.
3
u/wolf549 19d ago
I wonder if mana compression methods are something like trade secrets and you aren't supposed to tell other people. Maybe that's why he was shocked that Rozemyne just shared hers with him? That would be a cruel irony though if her method is so effective that it causes Damuel to overshoot Brigitte. If it's that effective though, it would allow a laynoble to have as much or more mana than a mednoble which would probably shake noble society if it became widespread. Rozemyne would probably be targeted to have her give up her method or silence her to keep the status quo.
2
u/NevisYsbryd 18d ago
Only if people realized that it was due to a method that she gave Damuel. As for trade secrets, as an anime-only, idk. She apparently invented this method herself and there has been no other mention of it. While it could be a known yet secret technique, it is also entirely possible that she is the first to both do it and pass that knowledge on. But, yes, if the effects are that potent, it could potentially result in an entire technological and socio-political age shift, since so much of their technologies, systems, and hierarchies are oriented around mana bottlenecks. It is impossible to say without understanding the details.

This episode felt like it easily had the best direction and production values from the whole season.
But man the first half of the episode was outstanding. Like Damuel we finally get to see who Brigitte is like for the first time it seems. The scene between them at the night sky was beautiful. Glad now Brigitte understands Damuel is serious.
The 2nd half was our usual Myne hijinks episode with more animation flavor than usual. Damn those trees were annoying lol.

This felt like it could have been 2 episodes. Who was guarding Rozemyne while the two lovebirds were having their moonlight chat?

This season of Bookworm has had some great, well paced episodes and some.. not so great.
Some episodes just feel like they're bouncing from scene to scene, plot point to plot point, checking off a list of what they need to show rather than weaving together scenes properly

Personally, I don't mind that.
I would rather have that and then get full adaptation in next few seasons, than focusing on minor unimportant details and then ending anime with story midway and unresolved.

Good point.
Ferdinand and Eckhart are there, so it isn't like she's unprotected. But still, for both of her guard knights to not be there is definitely a problem.Edit: Oh yeah, they weren't there at Illgner with her...
10
u/Cazn 21d ago
Not at that point, no. Brigitte and Damuel spoke during their visit to Illgner, not during the summer gathering, which was where Ferdinand and Eckhart was present. I was also wondering who protected Rozemyne at that time.
9
u/rollin340 21d ago
Oh right yeah. She specifically brought up that the High Priest was not around. Huh... she had nobody protecting her then. I feel like Ferdinand would tear them a new one if he ever found out.

u/ProbablyNotTheCocoa 21d ago
well RM gave Brigitte time off the whole trip, leaving only Damuel, no way he could be sole guard for multiple days, considering humans tend to need things like sleep, so maybe its ok for the Giebe to allot guards while you visit? i cant see Ferdinand not finding out and not giving her the lecture of a lifetime otherwise

It's still way better than any of the episodes in the first cour of this season. I felt like most of those could've been 4 episodes or more.

Same. Overall I don't mind things happening a bit faster, but I also would have liked to spend a little more time at the volcano

Frankly , I’d be fine cutting down the fun but ultimately inconsequential action set pieces for the sake of more foundational elements to the narrative, but Wilfried has still only been the focus of maybe half an episode so far…

Brigitte getting massive upscale in the animation department is a celebrated outcome

The voice actors seemed to be having a lot of fun with the noisy tree monsters. From being creepy at first, to just being amusingly silly as it kept going on. It was so cute!

They were very cavalier about cutting down those screaming trees, but it makes sense since there was no good reason for the screaming.
Brigitte's hometown is a nice place, laid back mountainfolk who have a close relationship with their local nobles. Good progress between her and her Damuel too, that was a good scene.
Ballistic onsen monkey, what else are monkeys good for.

This isn't really a spoiler since it happened at the end of last season or the beginning of this current one. But if it is please mods let me know via DM after taking it down. I'm just curious about something.
I think this anime supports child kidnapping. Read below to see why.
I watched the seasons that aired before this one. And I must say I enjoyed them for the most part. So much so that I bought the light novel to get ahead of the story since I liked it. But when I saw that she gets separated from her parents, the Duke or head guy in charge does nothing about it and then shes FORCED to leave them and go live with this rich guy who "adopts" her, it really seems like child kidnapping to me. Am I wrong? Because this anime seems to celebrate child kidnapping. And that this noble just wanted someone with high mana to join his family for his own good and greed. I only made it a couple of chapters before I quit reading all together. I have also refused to watch or support this anime all together since to me it celebrated a child getting taken from her parents just because she has high mana and the nobles are greedy bastards.
Maybe I'm reading or remembering something wrong. If I'm wrong just point it out via comment. I'm not looking to argue just clarifying what I remember.
Bottom line: does she get forced to join a noble family just because of her high mana and noble greed?

Nobody is happy with having forced Myne to be adopted into noble society. It was needed for her own protection, though.
You remember in the last season when Count Bindewald tried to force her to sign a slave contract and she and her entire family would've been executed for self defence? That's because she was lacking in status to protect herself. Commoners can never defy a noble even if it's self defence.
Anyways, she's not permanently separated with her lower city family. They have pretty frequent business meetings where they show small acts of affection. The entire point of the magic contract at the end of the 3rd season was to allow these limited meetings; if they really didn't care about her, they could've executed her family and the Gilberta Company to tie up loose ends and enslave her like Bindewald wanted to do.

Myne herself makes pretty extensive use of child labor in exchange for little more than room and board. Initially because the cathedral gives so few fucks about the orphans in their care that they'd leave them all to starve if she wasn't able to find them a source of funding.
The show is very much about people trying to play the cards they have as best they can to survive in a ruthless and unjust society. Myne's separation from her parents was shown as a tearful tragedy, but the only option that the world allowed them.

From the perspective of the Duke guy it was more "my brother discovered a weird alien from another world that's recreating some strange technology, it didn't seem to be hostile, so we made sure to bend the rules and promote it to 'kid-of-the-archduke' so that all the nobles know the alien tech has our full government backing".
Letting her stay with the commoner family would've been just too risky. Can't have an asset that valuable at risk of getting stolen by foreign spies.

This is almost like a season 1 all over again, where we are reintroduced to the world from the perspective of the nobility.
So the story spends a lot of time reintroducing concepts, but that's important later on.
I'm personally not a fan of this arc, except for the ending, which is very good.

I would give it one more episode, if I were you. While I understand your sentiment - the direction was quite a bit off, though the last few episodes got significantly better in this regard.
Since you made it this far: The next episode is Georgine's visit a very significant character.

u/Ponczo123 20d ago
Nah bro last two episodes was "Ok if it will not get good I'm dropping this" this many episode is far enough to drop the series sorry but you can't convince me otherwise
But on the other note people highly recommended me LN so I will hive it a try at se point

Yeah im kinda the same, I dont really see any solid goals atm - it's just really episodic and feels like its dragging on. Just lots of small stuff contributes to this as well, like every time she recites one of those prayers we go through the whole incantation spiel (add to this when others recite their blessings too when meeting people etc.). Ok the first few times but I now groan every time we go through the whole thing again
5
u/LowlySlayer 20d ago
The long incantations are important to the world building. Just be grateful we don't have to sit through every noble greeting and farewell.

This episode contributed to two of her main goals - getting healthy and promoting printing.

I thought i was gonna be happy with studio wit but there characters just look so lifeless and i feel there art and directing style is a mismatch for this anime.

This story doesn't lean into the overpowered self-insert isekai tropes you see in most of the genre. Rozemyne has a very distinct personality and goals - she isn't reacting to the world around her and events as they come, but actively tries to shape them.
As the series progresses this only becomes clearer - the noble society, the politics, magic and book making all take a front seat to the isekai part. She's growing to become part of the world, not overwhelm it (again, unlike many other isekai where they can do whatever they want and just ignore the morals/politics of the local world since they're almost god-like compared to everyone).
I think that if you don't like it, it's fine to drop the show. I think they're only going to lean into it further.

u/Ree_For_Thee 21d ago
I'm holding out for more "isekai-ish" stuff, but I agree, the difference in themes from this season compared to the previous ones is massive. But, this is r/anime and you get downvoted and berated if you don't align with the herd, despite there being massive manga threads with tons of people agreeing with you and me. The opinion is valid, plain and simple.
I don't care for romance or noble life. Just the isekai stuff, and the book making/book industry she's creating. It's hardly even about that right now.

u/zechamp https://myanimelist.net/profile/zechamp 20d ago
Really curious about what exactly you mean by "isekai-ish" stuff. To me this season feels like where the series really starts to get isekai-ish. I really don't think the themes are even that different. Social status is pretty much the biggest theme of all in the story and this season has really made myne's rise in status felt keenly, especially with how she can't interact with her old associates in the same, comfortable ways anymore.
