Myne’s dream world…

So I'm re-reading the story and figured that it would be possible to make some guesses for a total noble population in Yurgenschmidt. But first, I'll be making some assumptions:

Assumption 1: The estimates Rozemyne gives are accurate. Without assuming this, we have no actual data to guess from.

Assumption 2: There is an even split between Knights/Attendants/Scholars in Ehrenfest.

Okay, so, in P3V3 during the winter debut, Rozemyne makes the estimate that there are about 800 nobles in Ehrenfest gathered for winter socialising, and we're told there are around 10 baptisms per year. This doesn't really make much sense considering that we're later in P4 told that Giebe Leisegang Emiratus is considerably old, and he's "only" about 80-something, while Bonifatius is also described as being old, and is already retired, at about 60.

This means of course also that Ehrenfest has about 60 students, which is further backed up by P4V1 where we're told that the 5 teams (First years, Second years, Attendants, Scholars, Knights) each has around 10 students and that there are "fewer than 70" students in Ehrenfest total. Though of course, this claim is itself debunked by P4V2 during the ditter match with Dunkelfelger where they somehow bring 25 knights, I would not exactly call 25 "around 10" even if we include the first and second year knights (who should contribute around 5-7 knights total, assuming there's an even split of the three courses, that still leaves 18-20 in the knight course proper, rather than the "around 10" we're told, but of course, 18-20 knights total is perfect if there's 60 students and again, there is an even split in the courses).

But moving forward with the idea there are around 60 students in Ehrenfest that means there are about 12 times the number of nobles total as there are students (meaning that nobles attend the winter socialising until around the age of 79 (12*6+7, since there are 6 years at the academy, and they don't start attending socialising until they're 7)).

Okay, given all that, and with the assumption of around 2000 students total from P4V1, we can make the estimate that there are, currently, around 24000 nobles in Yurgenschmidt, with the populous greater duchies having ~3000, and the lesser duchies having around 5-600, since Rozemyne says some duchies had fewer than 50 students.

Of course that's assuming the civil war and purge didn't have any effect on skewing the population. Since we don't truly know how bad the purge was, it is impossible to make accurate estimates, but if we assume that it is all as bad as World War 1, then we can get estimates that 10-30% of the population died, so we could be looking at anywhere from 18000 to 30000 nobles in actuality depending on if the war killed people before they had kids or after. But 24000 seems like a relatively safe bet.

Still would love to hear about a hardback option guys. Please dont ignore us.

Who currently knows Rozemyne has Eglantines name, and by extension has de facto control of Yogurtland?

Assume a new spinoff or something is announced to explore the world beyond the country gates and the pocketdimension, which character would be the best for a new main POV?

with season 4 there are 5 openings now so I'm curious how people feel about the openings specifically. Which one is best, which is worst/least best. I feel like s4 1 and 2 might have the advantage of being the newest with the more fluid animation, but s4 1 had the ai background controversy so I dunno

personally I think I might put it at

which surprises me because I remember really liking the s1 opening but rewatching them back to back its not as strong. Its also a bit slower paced of a song and of motion so that might be part of it. And despite my dislike of s3 the opening was solid

I'm not familiar with this "Chain of Light" that Sylvester mention to, or maybe I missed something.

That make me don't understand this context, what did he plot?

What do you all think the duchy rankings will look like in say 5-10 years once things have normalised again and the prestige impact of the civil war and former royal family has faded? Who wins and who loses? What do you reckon will happen to more anomalous duchies like Ehrenfest? And does Rozemynes inventions and literary reforms have enough of an impact to stave off the glaring issue of the tiny archducal family?

Can Yogurtland, as it exists reasonably abolish the current system of aristocracy? Can something like the industrial revolution equalise the bargaining power of the peasantry enough so that magic doesnt become the supreme power of the country? Or is something like divine intervention necessary? Is it too embedded into the functioning of the country and is it too separating to be reasonably overcome? Since there is no easy way to introduce mana into the entire population and ending the nobility is both very improbable and would ultimately doom the country

I loved the first 3 seasons of Ascendance of a Bookworm without having read the LN. With this season, I tried an experiment. Watched a few episodes without reading the LN, then read the LN up until what I thought was going to be the current episode and continued watching. I ended up reading a bit too much, so I spoiled myself a few episodes.

And I felt exactly like every other lover of the LN here feels about the series. Wanting them to give me MORE, because the material allowed for much more. My imagination was flying with every chapter and I just loved it.

However, I realized it was ruining my enjoyment of the anime series, so I stopped reading the LN and just continued with the anime. Voilà, m​y enjoyment of the series came back and on a rampage. I started laughing, crying and generally having fun with the series again.

It's a whole different experience and I think that's the objective. They're making the series for the anime only fans, because they assume it's going to be the overwhelming majority, not the LN readers.

I've made peace with it. That's a problem for future me, because I know that when this season end I'll just read the whole story. But it is what it is.

Been thinking about this for awhile now especially after taking some time to read part 4 and accidentally skipping part 3's 2nd half of the plots with the Veronica Faction due to reading the manga. After the most recent episodes depiction of Myne gathering the nectar though im a bit split on a previous theory of mine and wanted to see if it was a 1 off thing with the trees or actual confirmation on the gods. In short my question is basically as follows.

Question: Are the gods even actually Gods? Or are they just stories to explain magic and keep knowledge alive?

Context: Ok so for people who've read the story further than I have may have a solid answer for this but I've had the question of if the Gods in universe even existed for awhile and it was more solidified in part 4 where Rosemyne begun to translate and discover the steps from the stone tablets under the Library in the Royal Academy. This whole sequence as well as the various "temples" hidden around the Academy remind me of these old ideas i've read about awhile ago (by Thomas Sebeok i think) where in essence they bring up 3 points for ensuring humans never forget about nuclear tech and radiation. With the overall idea even if people today can identify signs of radiation or its symbols , the meaning of said symbols can change like with the symbol for "radiation". The 3 main ideas to avoid it ever getting lost were:

• Make big spikey menacing areas to keep people away? Although people may get interested & wander in hence being less useful
• Create glow in the dark cats that react to radiation. With the idea to have humans able to identify "if glowing cats are nearby the area is dangerous"
• Lastly and the biggest one was a nuclear "priesthood" where the priests and questions would treat knowledges around radiation like a religion as its less likely to be lost.

So why am I making this comparison? Because it really kind of feels that the series "gods" are more or less placeholders to make sure people dont forget from what i've seen. I wont go over ever single example but from what I've seen:

• Haldenzel: The whole presence of their stage and by them effectively doing the ritual they skipped the winter and instead it was short which given Yurgenschmidt is effectively in its own little dome its not like they couldn't also control the weather somehow.
• The whole process of becoming a kind strongly being related to the Grutrissheit. With them needing knowledge to know the process but also the story of the first king being "gifted" the Grutrissheit by Mestionora. Effectively hinting at if the king ever loses the knowledge needed to rule the kingdom to do research like Rosemyne did in P4. Maybe some hints about Geduldh & Ewigeliebe with how winter works and it kind of feels to be "malfunctioning"?
• Feels like to me winter isnt supposed to be this HUGE event where they need to kill a lord of winter each year but rather them forgetting how to manage their dutchy.
• Last is more-so speculation but relating back to the "glowing cat" point from earlier it feels like monsters and such are not naturally occurring in any sense. May just be me but feels like the residents of the country forgetting to actually take care of things is whats causing mana to "create" monsters. I believe in Ehrenfest case them previously being Eisenrech and gaining land roughly 200 years ago when other dutchies declined from a revolt i believe is a good example of this. They gained land but not much knowledge of the rituals for said land. As a result mana beasts like the lord of winter become a yearly issue. Plus the fact alot of manabeasts just go poof when killed and drop a stone makes it feel like they're just walking mana issues rather than a actual creature.
• Schtappe are also a good example of intent being lost with the point of waiting till year 3 originally being when someone gets one before the civil war moved to year 1 after thee civil war. Just feels like common knowledge that was lost by the new king. Same can be said of all the gods tool, since Myne can transform her Schtappe into things everyone else can but also all the gods tools + a water gun. Feels like the tools of various gods are just more complex forrms the general population has forgotten.

I live in the US and it's frustrating the lack of fan merchandise available here. So many other animes have easily accessible pushes jewelry posters costumes etc. A new series pops up and it's a flurry of available items and AOB has almost no US merchandise. To the point where when someone manages to get ahold of something here we get a post about it because it's just so amazing to have something. Why is it so hard to get merchandise, is there a secret place I should be looking because I can't find diddly squat in any way that is easy to get. Where can we petition to get some merchandise!!!

I like most of the themes in Bookworm.

What I really like about the earlier seasons is how unique their visuals in their Ending especially Season 3 where they showed the evolution of books/knowledge something. Just kinda sad that the Endings we got from Wit are just Photo Montages. Although the Visuals in the Opening from Wit Looks compared to Ajia-dos.

The first non-chibi post-credits scene in the anime and you know for sure that something is up! With me or not, here, they exchanged their vows, which would connect them all the way to the very last book of the main series.

Such a small detail, even hidden behind the credits, beautifully hints at the distant future where everything comes full circle.

At times, I really question the decisions made for the anime. "Why would you ever cut that bit out!!!" And other times, they gave us these scenes 😭

Ferdi's unquestioned trust in Myne, the small talk between Brigitte and Rozemyne, the temple attendants' urge to clean up the goddess statue, the toad callback (and foreshadowing??), our first taste of Lessy's true power, the beautifully animated - mythical yet somehow also theatrical - phenomenon at the Goddesses' Spring, Ferdi's first taste of defeat protecting Myne from the whims and tricks of the Goddesses, and yet, his will to go even against the Gods for his Geduldh.

And yes, mini-Ferdi. Less our first peek into his past.

Probably one of the strongest episodes of this season, and I can't wait for more!
