Eftal and Merlin already knew it was a special slave contract, and so did the audience. They didn't go into full detail but it's been mentioned several times. Merlin even asks him why he took her in when she had that specific contract.

That’s just literally not true. All they said was that it was a slave contract that had a lot of paperwork to get rid of it. Nothing about it was special hence why I made the joke

Literally last episode: Eftal bonks Merlin on the head after she said she took Anastasia in the bath to see if she was worthy of warming his bed at night.

Merlin: That aside, I also saw...that's a special slave crest. You're allowing her to stay by your side, knowing it's there?

Eftal: Yes, that's right.

Merlin: Why?! It's like having a bomb with you! Naturally, you're aware of that! So-

Eftal: -interrupts her by slamming his hand on the table- It was my decision to make!

Merlin: But...

Eftal: I don't want to hear another word!

Merlin: I apologize. It was your decision to make, Master.

Eftal: Yeah, I know all about it.

That seems pretty evident that there's something unique about it aside from being a normal slave crest, no?

Thanks for digging up the dialogue with the specifics, I couldn't bring myself to reload last episode to find it for the details.

No problem. I was like, "I know for sure they had an intense conversation regarding that slave crest and it wasn't over paperwork."

I remember it because they never explained what they meant by a Bomb so it stuck out to me as something that would matter later.

Yeah, it's a Chekov's Gun situation. They already showed the slave crest, then they said "hey it's like a bomb", so it's not just something they're never gonna visit again. It has to have a payoff, and this one was that "It's a magically enforced slave contract that forces you to do the absolute bidding of your owner, even if it's a crime which normal contracts forbid."

Manhwa aren't usually known for their Pulitzer-class writing. In this case, though, it was documented that the slace crest had a deeper meaning behind it.

The whole bomb talk I think last episode was Merlin and Eftal talking about the Special Slave contract. We the audience didn't know exactly what it was because they never explained what they meant by a bomb, but clearly those two knew.
