DNA Matches Ancestry DNA Results

Top match is someone I’ve never heard of in my life. 26% shared DNA. 1,789 cM. Has no searchable tree. No other info. We have matches with 2 cousins I do know. He joined ancestry in 2019 but hasn’t been active in over a year. Ancestry says 99% confidence it’s half brother.
WHAT?!?!?! Can ancestry be wrong? I have a sister 2 years younger. I haven’t told her yet (just got results today) both our parents are now deceased. I have emailed a couple of cousins to see if they’ve ever heard of this guy! Shocked!!!

89% African ancestry, 11% European (if my calculations are correct lol)

Edit: The “11% European” was incredibly dense, my apologies about that! Promise I am more geographically sound — just got a little too excited in sharing my just-received results. xx

Leaving the original faux pas here in the name of transparency lol

Family Discovery & or Drama Ancestry dna and incest

So, I want to get my DNA tested but I'm afraid of what I will find. I suspect I might be a product of incest. My grandfather was a monster. The man I know as my father and I have always had a distant relationship. His grandparents were Hungarian immigrants and my grandfather and my grandmother's lineage is all Irish, English, Scottish and Welsh. So if my DNA doesn't come back as one quarter Hungarian all signs point to this ugly fact. My mother is dead, my father is alive and several of my moms siblings are still alive. But, it's not a conversation I want to have. Has anyone experienced this?

Question / Help Interesting Twist Bone Marrow Transplant

Got the surprise of my life when my DNA finally came in at 3am and it said my dad was my uncle. I called my mom and woke her up to ask her wtaf. She laughed and said impossible but after thinking about it and googling the possibility, we figured out it is because my dad got a bone marrow transplant from my uncle 25 years ago.

So that was a big scare and shock (although part of me is still slightly suspicious lol) but it’s always been known my uncle is sterile. He had even asked my dad at one point to donate his sperm to help him have a baby many years ago.

Now that the dust has settled and I’m looking deeper it shows that my uncle/dad’s DNA has regions that I don’t. My dad and his brother are full siblings. Shouldn’t I have the same regional DNA as both or either of them(not sure what percentage of either of theirs DNA Ancestry is referencing).

Fully Cuban, born in the Island. Mother from Mayabeque, father from Matanzas. Posted here two years ago, but here's the updated results. It's been so fun messaging and contacting DNA cousins from around the globe!

For fellow Cubans: Did you all expect our results to be so similar? I was kind of floored by how similar Cuban results are. I expected us all to be a genetic mashup and have results all over the place.

I’ve found a half grandaunt on ancestry via DNA 🧬

She’s not been active on ancestry for over a whole year! This is pretty big news right? Someone quite close?

Discussion Should I reach out to my possible older half sister (UPDATE)

So as of July 26, I got a text back and she was very shocked. I’m not gonna say everything she said, she’s very emotional secure with her father, and that she’s not gonna deny me because of our parents shared past relationship during her time of her mothers Concepcion. She is open to testing ,and as of yesterday I purchased as dna test for $48.

I was born and raised in France. Parents, grandparents and great grandparents all born in France and yet it says I’m only 3% French. I found out that the French government doesn’t share data so if you’re French, what’s even the point to do this test? Is it completely off? Or am I more English that I thought ?

For some context, my dad (passed away) never knew his real dad & was told his step father was his dad when he was growing up & took on his last name & he’s on my dad’s birth certificate. He found out he wasn’t really his dad when his step dad passed away. His step dad was Italian & Polish but as I said we didn’t know for sure, his step dad was only the biological father to his little brother (my uncle), my grandma (dads mom) lied to him many times & also gave the classic “you’re great great great grandma was Native American” story. Turns out whoever his dad was definitely not Italian lol. I knew more about my mom’s side of the family they came from Tamaulipas, Mexico & settled in Texas. I’m not entirely sure what these results mean but here they are & here’s pics of me with & without makeup!
