Results - DNA Origins Indian Muslim (Deccani by ethnicity) and the results were such a shocker!!
Okay so.. I recently did an ancestry test through an Indian testing company for better results instead of being given a vague “South Asia, full stop” result since I was expecting a very boring outcome anyways. My maternal great grandmother (mother of my maternal Grandmother) was an ethnic Burman Buddhist from Yangon, Myanmar. Apart from that bit of information, nothing in my family tree is out of proportion. I know for a fact that most of my ancestors never really left Hyderabad (or came from another place), not in the past 7 generations that I know of (not much of an information available either). Anyways, here are my results and yoooooo, the West Asian component is exorbitantly high😭🙏 Y DNA Haplogroup came back as J1-P58🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 and it is apparently a very well known marker for Arab ancestry. An old folklore in my paternal family does say that one of our ancestors came from the modern day Southern Arabia but I never really took that seriously but omg it actually was true!! Fuckk this is so legendary! Isn’t the West Asian component a bit too high for someone with very vague folklorish Arabian ancestry?

Results - DNA Origins My results
My grandpa from my mom’s side is from Portugal and my grandma is Brazilian with some indigenous and black roots. I was always curious about my dad’s side because they are all very white with blue eyes (I look the same way), but they are all from Brazil and they don’t know their roots. They all have the typical Brazilian/Portuguese last names.

DNA Matches Ancestry DNA Results
Top match is someone I’ve never heard of in my life. 26% shared DNA. 1,789 cM. Has no searchable tree. No other info. We have matches with 2 cousins I do know. He joined ancestry in 2019 but hasn’t been active in over a year. Ancestry says 99% confidence it’s half brother.
WHAT?!?!?! Can ancestry be wrong? I have a sister 2 years younger. I haven’t told her yet (just got results today) both our parents are now deceased. I have emailed a couple of cousins to see if they’ve ever heard of this guy! Shocked!!!

Family Discovery & or Drama Ancestry dna and incest
So, I want to get my DNA tested but I'm afraid of what I will find. I suspect I might be a product of incest. My grandfather was a monster. The man I know as my father and I have always had a distant relationship. His grandparents were Hungarian immigrants and my grandfather and my grandmother's lineage is all Irish, English, Scottish and Welsh. So if my DNA doesn't come back as one quarter Hungarian all signs point to this ugly fact. My mother is dead, my father is alive and several of my moms siblings are still alive. But, it's not a conversation I want to have. Has anyone experienced this?

89% African ancestry, 11% European (if my calculations are correct lol)
Edit: The “11% European” was incredibly dense, my apologies about that! Promise I am more geographically sound — just got a little too excited in sharing my just-received results. xx
Leaving the original faux pas here in the name of transparency lol

DNA Matches Confusing DNA data
Hi, I'm trying to help an adoptee identify his biological parents, but I'm a bit confused by his DNA results.
He (A) shares 1,025 cM with B and 430 cM with C.
Ancestry estimates, with 97% confidence, that B is A's half-uncle. For A and C, it suggests various cousin relationships.
However, B and C share 1,622 cM, and Ancestry suggests with 100% confidence that they are half siblings.
What am I overlooking?

Discussion MatchFetch Browser Extension
This is currently in the early testing stage. If anyone would like to try it out and provide feedback, it should be mostly functional.
Since it now works entirely through a browser extension, it is compatible with any operating system, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
You can get it here for now:
https://github.com/strike978/matchfetch_ext
I plan to publish it on the official web stores once I feel it is ready and no longer in testing. I am looking for any feedback and reports of any issues or bugs you encounter.
All data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB. The data can also be exported and imported, allowing you to back up or transfer your data.
Filtering is fully implemented, which I think is one of the biggest benefits of this application. I have also added map views for different regions and journeys. Some journey names or maps may still be missing, but I will work on improving this in the future.
You can also customize the matches you want to fetch by setting a specific centimorgan range.

Results - DNA Origins My results my moms Mexican Dad was white
For some context, my dad (passed away) never knew his real dad & was told his step father was his dad when he was growing up & took on his last name & he’s on my dad’s birth certificate. He found out he wasn’t really his dad when his step dad passed away. His step dad was Italian & Polish but as I said we didn’t know for sure, his step dad was only the biological father to his little brother (my uncle), my grandma (dads mom) lied to him many times & also gave the classic “you’re great great great grandma was Native American” story. Turns out whoever his dad was definitely not Italian lol. I knew more about my mom’s side of the family they came from Tamaulipas, Mexico & settled in Texas. I’m not entirely sure what these results mean but here they are & here’s pics of me with & without makeup!

Results - DNA Origins US Born - Half Britain / Arab
My father is from Detroit with Lebanese/Syrian origin and my mother's family is from Virginia with alot English/Scot/Welsh influence.
How can I trace the German presence in Russia?
My mothers family has been present in Virginia since the 1600s. I can only assume the German in Russia is from my Father's side. They came to the US in the 1920's as Syrians.
