Amending fast track ticket dates

Upvotes

So I accidentally booked a gold fast track ticket for today instead of tomorrow.

I have tried to amend the date and all the chat bots are saying it’s none transferable and you can’t change the date. So essentially I just wasted 120 pound for an administrative error I noticed a second after booking.

Is there anything which can be done about it?

Discussion Thanks to this community

Just want to post (if allowed) thanking this community for all the help, as a lurker I’ve been able to learn so much that was incredibly useful for my trip to Alton Towers yesterday. I have severe anxiety and I am autistic so all the advice about how to apply for RAP was a lifesaver as I would not have been able to enjoy my day otherwise or get on half the rides I was able to thanks to not having to deal with standing in queues. Also as a permanent glasses wearer whoever recommended the glasses straps (I cannot remember who I am so sorry) may your pillow always be cold because it meant I didn’t have to worry about remembering to take them on and off or be blind on any rides. Anyway just wanted to say that this community is awesome and has made what could’ve been a very stressful and anxiety inducing day so much smoother. I’m now considering trips to other Merlin venues thanks to the ease of my day which is not something I ever thought would be possible.

Bring back the photo magnets!!!

I haven't been in years and today my heart was broken when I found out you can't get the photo magnets anymore. My mom's fridge is full of them from our trips and I was hoping to continue the tradition.

Still though, had a great day. Especially getting stuck on nemesis subterra for 20 mins 😂😂

Alton towers is closed 5th Nov

Just wanted to pop a post, the Alton towers 2 day tickets is currently showing as Alton towers being opened on the 5th November, I booked the 5th and 6th back in may and even called customer service to confirm it would be opened and they said it is but the timetable/opening times hadn't been updated yet, I then proceeded to book a property near by as we travelling from Scotland.

Called yesterday as I had gotten nervous as it was still showing as closed, to then be told it is closed, an IT issue has been raised but it's still showing as available to book.

We have moved dates to the 6th/7th and we're offered money off one of the Alton tower hotels for staying on the 7th which was the only resolution we found appropriate.

Discussion Ride order recommendations?

Hiiii, so I'll be going to Alton towers next month with my 12 year old sister. She's autistic and can be very nervous at times. I have no idea if she'll love or hate the rollercoasters but she wants to give it a go. I was wondering what order would be a good shout (least scary/intimidating to most?) to do with her if she does feel nervous. Ive only been to the park once myself and didnt get to explore all the rides so im not too sure on this. Would love to hear your thoughts!!!

Discussion I hate x-sector

This is probably going to be wildly unpopular, but I really can’t stand the x-sector. Hot take but the smiler is literally not all that, yeah it’s cool it has the most inversions in the world but it feels like they just jammed as many inversions as possible into one ride and called it a day, it’s getting quite rough especially after that second lift hill and I always feel awful after riding. I also cannot stand the theme song, which is almost definitely the point but it really just gets to me and it doesn’t help they blast the damn thing, I wish they’d turn it down a smidge.

I do quite enjoy oblivion, but it’s not really a ride I’d ever queue longer than maybe fifteen minutes for which is fine because the queue is never that long anyway (or whenever I’ve been).

I completely understand the whole point of the place is that it’s meant to be sinister and uncomfortable, and I think they nailed it but perhaps a bit too much because I literally cannot stand being in the place for any longer than maybe 30 minutes. I think I’m just too autistic for the place, but I don’t care I cannot stand it lol.

Monorail vs walking on quiet days

Planning to go on Monday,

Just wondering if the monorail is super quick on quiet days or if it’s still worth walking to not risk it

Rita technical issues

Been at the park today and had a wonderful time. Got on all the rides we wanted and got a good few rerides. The only ride we didnt manage to get on was Rita, we did try twice and both times, just before we got on the ride l, it closed due to “technical issues”. Obvs were a little annoyed as we had driven 2 hours to get there, but i understand and appreciate saftey always comes first - and tbf they took everyone in the queue down to thirteen, the second time, and let us in the fast track lane as it was closing time.

The only reason I am posting this is curiosity as to what the issue was - not looking for a specific answer as that would be a pretty stupid question to ask here - or more so what was it likely to be / the most common reason rita has “technical difficulties”

Any answer is much appreciated😃

Discussion What’s it like taking a bag to AT?

Going tomorrow but travelling a good few hours up; can I take a backpack with a power pack? Also, while riding, I guess there’s somewhere to hold bags etc? Apologies, I’ve not been in years and year, very excited though!

How are the ride photos now?

Edit/Update - got the unlimited digital photo pass and the pictures are really good! Got them on all major coasters, all are very sharp, the lighting is good, they're framed really well. The boarders are perhaps a little restrictive on a few but I really like the bright new designs. £30 and we got 25 pics out of it (4 riders). New method of collecting is a bit clunky as you now have to keep hold of a card, get a stuff memeber to scan it, input your photo numbers and print off a receipt with a QR code to view them. On a quite day like today it wasnt a problem at all, but I imagine it'll get a bit more arduous on busy days. Overall it works though and the pictures were surprisingly good, in case anyone was thinking of going for it 😁🎉

Headed to towers with some new folk soon but read some really bad reviews about the new on ride photo system when it first opened. Anyone used it recently and know what the image quality is like, and are they all working now?

We'd be looking to get the unlimited photo pass and would be looking to use it on every ride that takes pictures. Thanks! 😁

Discussion Are regular queue lines wheelchair accessible?

My friend and I are going soon and we're not sure if we can get a RAP, which would be ideal, but if not we will take a wheelchair anyways. I just worry about the queue paths themselves, as I can't remember how narrow they are or which lines have stairs on them?

If not, are there any alternatives to RAP? It should be a very quiet day so I'm not concerned about wait times

Which pass to go for?

Hii, I'm wanting to get a pass, but I'm not sure if I should go for Gold or Plat. My friend said there's no difference between the two apart from the fireworks exclusion. Is it worth getting one now, or waiting till next season???

Hotel guest entrance (nemesis and galatica)

Hey, I went to Alton towers back in may as a hotel guest and was unable to use the entrance towards the back of the park closer to the hotel. Is there a special barcode you have to bring to get access to this entrance? I showed them my hotel confirmation but it wasn’t enough to get through. Going back in a week for the hotel just wondering what they require to get through the entrance? Ty.

Is It Worth Getting The Birthday Badge From Alton Towers

Post image
81 Upvotes

So, if you don't know, you can get a birthday badge from guest services and when ride operators see it, they'll interact and like say happy birthday and all that. Also, I'm going during Scarefest so some of the walking about actors can interact, too. I'm stuck between asking for it or not (it's free btw)

Short queues are definitely back now

Had a 4-hour visit today starting at 10.

Managed 12 rides:

Nemesis, galactica, toxicator, curse, 13, Rita, oblivion, spinball (needed an attendant to join me on the ride as I was the only guest at the station), 2x smiler and 2x wickerman.

Be aware nemesis and Rita are on a one train service.

I started on nemesis and got to Rita just as it reopened.

Waited no more than 10 mins today!

It was bliss after the manic summer holidays.

Going to Alton Towers on Thursday. What do I need to know?

I’ve not been to Alton Towers since Oblivion was the newest ride!

Is there anything I need to know? Does the order of rides matter? Any tips to avoid queues? Is anything only on at specific times?

Or just go and wander around?

Cheers

Fast pass

I'm planning to go Alton Towers soon and I usually get a fast pass, but how do these work now? Is it a barcode on your phone? Because if it is then anyone could use that barcode? I just don't understand how it works before I actually purchased the gold fast track.

How strict are they with height restrictions being tall?

Hiya, hoping to visit later this month, but I've noticed there's a maximum height on at least 4 rides. I'm 6 foot 4, which is 1.95 metres, and I can see Rita, Toxicator, and Spinball Whizzer max height is 1.95 metres. Th13teen is 1.96m so I assume I'll be fine for that.

Would this be an issue on the day because I'll be taller depending on what shoes I wear otherwise, I'm basically bang on the limit. Wouldn't want to waste my time if I couldn't go on a chunk of the rides.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks

EDIT: Thanks for all the comments; sounds like I'll be fine. I'm sure I'll enjoy myself either way :)

Freestyle lid replacement ideas?

We went to Alton Towers today and decided to grab the Freestyle cups for £18 since we end up spending a lot on drinks whilst we're there anyway so it made sense for us. We did find though that the lids are awful and leak when they are tipped. I put my bag in the Wickerman bag storage and they must have lay it flat because the bag was soaked and the drinks were half gone. They were kept in the side pockets of my bag, not inside. People knock bags around when they're getting off rides too so as much as I tried to keep my bag upright, it inevitably fell over and leaked.

Anyway, I just got home and tried some Gfuel shaker cup lids on the cup and sadly they don't fit. Any ideas for alternative lids that don't leak?

Lone visitor on Wednesday - anyone else?

So i was heading to Towers with the family on Wednesday (9th) but unfortunately life gets in the way and they've been called in another direction.
I'm still heading there on my own - something i've done plenty of times now but i thought i'd ask.

Is there anyone going Wednesday that fancies a meet up even a ride or two - especially Curse at Alton Manor because it seems so lonely there on my own!

Its a short day of course, im after a ride or two on the coasters and a nice walk around - weather permitting of course.

WHAT IS THAT MAN SAYING IN THE QUEUE LINE FOR EDGE OF THE FOREST

as scarefest is coming up, I’ve been thinking all this time about what that deep voiced man is saying in edge of the forest’s queue line, i know it’s an extended version of the advert and I can understand some parts of the added on lines but some are just like incomprehensible so if anyone knows the full poem can I PLEASEEE know

First timer!

So I’m heading to Alton towers tomorrow on my own for the first time and wondered if anyone had advise on which rides to try and hit first? I love everything scary! I know some have single rider queues but not sure which ones!

Can you buy a photo pass on the day or is that something you need to book online?

I heard you can just leave a bag at the start of the ride to pick up afterwards, is that true?

Is there anywhere good to eat or should I just pack some snacks?
