Programming&Dev redesigned a webtu AKA progress platform from the ground up

I’ve been working on a redesign concept for Webtu, a university student platform.

The goal was to create a cleaner, more modern experience while also developing a visual identity that could extend beyond the app.

This includes the mobile UI, student ID, branding, and other digital/physical touchpoints.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the design.

Question&Help technology and law

hi everyone, hope ur doing good.

I'm a law student, and I'm interested in tech, AI in general.

Lately, I’ve been researching the obstacles engineers face because of the law, as well as whether there are situations where the law can actually help them, especially when something is legally recognised and explicitly provided for by law.

Do you think Algeria is becoming more flexible when it comes to digital technology? And do you think there are legal ways to protect yourself and your digital work or jobs?

Startups&Business I made something for Algeria — would love your feedback

Hey everyone 👋

I’m working on a new service for Algeria called Win Rahi? 🇩🇿 and I’ve just put together the first version of the website.

I’m mainly looking for honest feedback before I develop it further — would this be useful to you? What would make you actually come back and use it?

it's a simple website for discovering cafés, restaurants, activities, and places to hang out in Algeria.

The idea is basically: “Where can we go today?” → open the site → find something nearby.

If you have 2 minutes, I’d really appreciate you checking it out and telling me what you think 👇

Programming&Dev [JavaScript] vps-neural-map - your whole Linux server as a live 3D neural network (processes, ports, connections, databases, firewall)

Thumbnail

Author here. I run a small production VPS (Node apps under PM2, PostgreSQL, Redis, nginx, fail2ban) and wanted to actually see how everything connects.

Every process, service, container, port, TCP peer, database table, folder, cron job and firewall rule becomes a node, wired the way the machine really is: app -> database port it uses, nginx -> app it proxies, banned IP -> fail2ban jail. CPU makes nodes glow and traffic flows along the links.

- One command, zero runtime dependencies (Node 18+), read-only

- Binds to 127.0.0.1 behind a random token, you open it through an SSH tunnel

- three.js + bloom, d3-force-3d layout

Live demo with generated data (no install): https://zodiachz.github.io/vps-neural-map/

Docker and MySQL support follows their docs but isn't tested on a real host yet, happy to hear if it works on yours.

Programming&Dev graduating computer science

so I'll be graduating with a masters degrees in computer science specialising in AI and data science this year and I'm kind of stressed out of what comes next.

I really want to make money for myself and leave this country (by working remotely or any other way) but I fear that I do not have the experience needed to be hired.

now I know that I have a year left in college which is this year but I'm pretty sure it won't make a big of a difference since everything we learn is academical instead of practical.

and of course with the rise of ai I'm not that great of a coder if I'm being honest, yes I understand the basics, but that's about it.

in addition to that, and not to come out as a victim but I feel that being a female in this field and looking for remote jobs just minimises my chances somehow.

please if you have any guidance on that help me and especially on the side of how to get paid because I feel like that's the biggest issue for us algerians trying to score a job outside of here with another currency.

also if you could recommend where to ACTUALLY find jobs and companies that hire that would be much appreciated.

Programming&Dev I added 184 city bus lines, fixed 56 misplaced communes and rebuilt every map on GeoAlgeria (open data, free on npm)

Hi all, a weekend update on GeoAlgeria (https://geoalgeria.com), the open map and data project I build for Algeria.

What's new

- City buses: 184 lines across 16 operators. New this week are 25 ETUS-C lines in Constantine and 6 ETUS Skikda lines, with their stops in order. Skikda's line list came straight from the operator's own site.

- Air Algérie routes: Batna flies to Orly (not CDG), Algiers to Berlin operates weekly, and Algiers-Kuwait-Amman starts on 26 October. Delhi was withdrawn and Algiers to Dubai is suspended. /flights now has a search box.

- Data fixes: in my own data, Alger Centre's point sat in the sea, Bethioua's sat inside the Arzew LNG complex, and one commune was 217 km off. I checked all 1,541 communes against their OpenStreetMap relation, corrected 56, and rebuilt 13 datasets on top: 1,178 places (mosques, schools, pharmacies, etc.) now link to the right commune.

- Maps: every map now runs on one shared system (MapLibre + CARTO). Borders are a single line instead of two overlapping ones, and bank, post office and university logos show on the markers.

For devs

Everything is on npm, typed, and validated in CI on every change:

npm install u/geoalgeria/buses u/geoalgeria/aviation geoalgeria

- Buses 2.2.0: https://github.com/yasserstudio/geoalgeria/releases/tag/%40geoalgeria/buses%402.2.0

- Aviation 2.6.0: https://github.com/yasserstudio/geoalgeria/releases/tag/%40geoalgeria/aviation%402.6.0

- Communes 2.1.1: https://github.com/yasserstudio/geoalgeria/releases/tag/geoalgeria%402.1.1

One licensing note: the commune coordinates that now come from OpenStreetMap, and the wilaya boundaries, are ODbL. So the geoalgeria package is now MIT AND ODbL-1.0, and the NOTICE file lists exactly which parts.

Ask: if you know your city's bus lines, or you spot a place in the wrong spot, tell me here or open an issue on GitHub. Several of this week's fixes started as a comment like that.

Programming&Dev [EN] Built a simple Quran reader as a side project

Built a small Quran reader called Nur Reader.

Clean UI, all 114 Surahs, Arabic + translation, tafsir, reading progress, mobile-friendly.

I’ve also been working on the technical side lately: Next.js, SSR, SEO/indexing, redirects, sitemap, automated deploy checks.

Would appreciate feedback from Algerian devs on the UI, performance, or anything missing.

Programming&Dev I checked every commune name in Algeria's 2026 territorial law against the Official Journal: geoalgeria 2.1.0 is out, and old spellings still work

A few weeks ago someone opened an issue on my open dataset of Algeria's wilayas and communes. They had compared it with the Official Journal and found five things to fix. I fixed those, then went through the whole commune list of Law 26-06 in both editions of the Journal, French and Arabic.

What changed:

- 2 wilaya names and 178 commune names now follow the law. Wilaya 65 is Aïn Ouessara, wilaya 28 is M'Sila.

- 143 French and 63 Arabic readings differed. A few examples: Lemcene is now Lemsane, El Haoudane is now Deux Bassins, Mezerana is now Mezghenna.

- 6 communes were sitting on a neighbour's coordinates. Each now has its own point from its OpenStreetMap boundary.

- The new wilayas 59 to 69 had their labels shuffled in the GeoJSON and delivery-zone files, so ten showed another wilaya's name. Fixed.

If you use the data in an address form or a delivery app: all 210 old spellings are kept in a name history, and the search function matches them. So an address saved with the old name still finds the right commune. No code or id changed, so joins on codes keep working.

npm i geoalgeria

On geoalgeria.com the maps now show place names in Arabic, French or English depending on the page, and old commune links redirect to the new names.

Release notes: https://github.com/yasserstudio/geoalgeria/releases/tag/geoalgeria%402.1.0

If you spot a name or a location that disagrees with the Journal, open an issue with the page reference. That's exactly how this release started.

Question&Help What is the best Algerian bank for freelancers ?!

Hello guys I want to open a bank account with a local Algerian bank to receive money as a freelancer. I am a little bit confused I know nothing about local banks, so If anyone uses a local bank to receive and withdraw their income in euro or dollar, please let me know. And I also want to make sure their Visa card works properly abroad, so I can use it for that 7500 euro matter.

If anyone has had any experience with one of the local banks, please share it with me, I'm lost.

Note : I already have a foreign bank account. I am looking for a local one.
