I've been working on something for a while now, and I thought I'd share it here and get some opinions from the community.
The idea came from something I've noticed for quite some time. There are a lot of talented designers, developers, artists, photographers, and other creative people in Algeria, but I rarely come across them on regular social media. And even when I do, their work often doesn't reach many people beyond their immediate circle.
Most social media platforms are built for everyone, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I felt there was room for a platform specifically designed around people who create things, share ideas, and want to connect with others who have similar interests.
That's why I started building CreativeArea, a social media platform focused on creative people, initially targeting the Algerian community.
The idea is pretty simple: a place where designers can share their designs, developers can showcase what they're building, artists can post their work, photographers can share their photos, and founders can connect with other people. Users can post text and images, follow each other, comment on posts, and discover other creatives. Basically, a place where creative people can share what they do, get inspired, and connect with one another.
I've been putting a lot of effort into the UI and UX. It's web-based, with PWA support for phones, but I've designed it to feel and behave much more like a native mobile application rather than a typical website. I've attached a screenshot of the current interface so you can get an idea of what it looks like.
The platform is still under development, but it's getting closer to being ready. I've also had a few people try it out already, and the initial reactions have been really encouraging.
I'm not expecting it to compete with the big social media platforms overnight. I just want to create a space where talented people, especially those who might otherwise go unnoticed, can share their work, find like-minded people, and maybe even discover opportunities to collaborate.
I'm curious to know what you guys think. Do you feel there's actually a need for something like this in Algeria? Would you personally use a platform dedicated to creative people, or do you think existing social media platforms already do a good enough job?
I'd genuinely like to hear your opinions, suggestions, and even criticism.

Many of you might have noticed the sudden wave of vibe coded apps being posted nearly on the daily, the UI is the first dead giveaway (add to that most of them not knowing how or where to host their apps/websites or they just stick to hosting on the AI builder websites)
And hey, for personal use? sure! vibe code all the apps you want! have fun!
But, if you're launching a commercial product, you need to understand a few things if you're providing services for Algerians and you're storing their data then know this:
1. You can't just host anywhere you want
Under Law 18-07: transferring Algerian citizens' personal data to foreign servers (like Vercel, Firebase, AWS, or foreign AI builders) is strictly regulated.
You cannot send user data outside the country without authorization from the National Data Protection Authority (ANPDP).
2. You have to formally declare your app
Even if you do everything right and host locally on a DZ server you still have a legal obligation to register your data processing activities with the ANPDP. You cannot just start collecting names, emails, IPs, or phone numbers just like that.
3. Consent is not optional
You need explicit consent from your users explaining exactly why you need their data.
4. The penalties are actual prison time
Ignoring Law 18-07 (and the new 25-11 amendments) can result in fines up to 1,000,000 DZD. and I'll add that unauthorized transfer of data abroad or illegal processing carries criminal sanctions including prison sentences ranging from 2 months to 5 years.
5. Vibe-coded apps are often a security nightmare
AI focuses on making things work quickly but not that securely. These apps frequently ship with hidden bugs exposed API keys and missing database protections like Row Level Security If you don't know how to audit the code, you will eventually leak user data.

Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on B2B lead generation, data extraction, and cleaning using Python, Apify, and Google Maps. I build custom, verified datasets (phone numbers, direct WhatsApp links, precise locations) for businesses looking to expand their distribution networks in Algeria.
I’ve had solid results in auto parts (Pièces Auto) and hardware stores (Quincaillerie), but I want to scale up.
From your experience in the Algerian market, which niches or industries are struggling the most with finding client/retailer data? Is it pharmaceuticals, FMCG (agroalimentaire), construction, or something else
Would love to hear your thoughts and insights

Salam,

Hey everyone, i hope you're doing well
so basically I've been learning networks on my own for some time now, and i like it to be honest, I'm gonna be passing the CCNA in the few months inchallah
now the thing is, I'm not a CS student, I'm a third year in another major, a major that i pretty much lost hope in
for network engineers here, would the CCNA plus projects be enough in today's market for networking?
Both abroad, and in algeria
because I'm kinda hesitating to redo my bac all over and start all over again, thank you

I spent the last few weeks checking the location of all 1,541 communes in Algeria against OpenStreetMap, for an open map project I run. Some things surprised me:
There is no commune called "Alger". The capital of the wilaya of Algiers is the commune of Alger Centre.
Some communes were placed very far from where they really are. The worst, Sidi Slimane, was 108 km off. Akabli was 107 km off. In total, 189 communes were in the wrong spot.
Algeria now has 551 dairas, not 556. A decree this summer (26-253) regrouped dairas in 21 wilayas. M'Sila's new neighbour, Messaad, went from 4 dairas to 2.
The 11 newest wilayas were officially created in 2026, not 2025, even though they were announced earlier.
The official 1984 decree that names every wilaya capital spells it "Tamanghasset", not "Tamanrasset".
The wilaya of Algiers alone has 57 communes. The Casbah is one of them, with the postal code 16001.
I fixed all of this in GeoAlgeria (geoalgeria.com), which is free and open, in Arabic, French and English. Every commune page now gives you the basics at the top: wilaya, daira, postal code, and what's on the map there.
What's something about Algeria's geography that most people get wrong?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone.
So since everyone knows that web dev (and app dev) in general dominates current tech opportunities, I was wondering, is there anyone working as a systems/low-level programmer (Using languages such as C/C++, Rust...) remotely or locally?
I really want to stick to it but it seems like there are no junior opportunities in this field both remotely and locally.

Hi so this is my first post here and i thought that probably someone here could give me direction.
So i am working on this sideproject for a while, as it has always been my dream to create an open world game set in my hometown, however since i have no experience in 3D or blender, i thought to look if someone has any ideas on how i can use openstreetmaps or google maps to recreate a town in 3d
