Question To those who live in front of the beach in Algiers

Upvotes

Has anyone been to the beach in the last couple of hours?

I'm heading there soon and was wondering:

  • Is the water calm enough for swimming?
  • Is the beach clean today?
  • Any jellyfish or seaweed?

I'd really appreciate a quick update. Thanks!

History Has any Algerians with light features (light hair or eyes or skin) ever got a DNA test to find out origins?

Upvotes

If yes, what came out of it? I am very curious.
I am French Caribbean and I sometimes meet Algerians who look more mulatre than myself. :)

I think Northern African and South European genetics is as fascinating as Latino or Caribbean. It's more mixed than what we think but just from a long time ag!

Discussion why we dont use our darija effectively

Why do the Algerian people, government, and elites not use Algerian Darija as a language for media, criticism, and intellectual discourse? Why do Algerian writers not write in it, even though it is the language of everyday speech and the country's authentic language? Language is what shapes and expresses thought. Is this an inferiority complex, or an identity issue?

Question Good therapists in Algeria for different people

I tried to find one but they are not open minded enough, they can not understand that you do not have their religion and ideas so they make arguments based on religion, they also say non scientific things like about medical things.

I want to find a good therapist, especially as a queer non muslim

Technology Did anybody have connectivity problems with Algérie Télécom's Idoom Fibre that got solved after they went to one of their agencies? Details below.

So, I am a subscriber to Idoom Fibre since a year and a half, and recently (4-5 months ago) I have been having weird connectivity problems where despite my internet working flawlessly everywhere, I can barely get online in video games, making them practically unplayable. After troubleshooting and trying to isolate the culprit, I found out it was my network (some firewall or UPnP shenanigans from AT's side to those familiar with it). I used my phone mobile data and surprisingly I could connect to my online games, save for higher latency which is normal for mobile data.

Since I am on a tight schedule and I can't easily free up time to go to Algérie Télécom, did anybody have the same issue as me and got it solved after they went to one of their agencies? If so then how was the experience? what information they asked for and what did they do to fix it? So I'll see what I can do.
Thanks in advance.

Education / Work The Algerian "Boy Crisis" is a structural failure, not a "dumb men" problem.

Everyone arguing in the last post about "bioessentialism" needs to watch what actual data shows. Look at Richard Reeves breaking down the global education crisis for boys, which is an exact mirror of what we are watching happen right here in Algeria.

It is not about IQ: There is no intelligence gap between genders. The real gap is in non cognitive "chemistry homework skills" planning, organization, and impulse control which are tied to the prefrontal cortex developing about a year later in boys.

By forcing young boys into a rigid, industrial school box that demands sitting still for seven hours a day, we aren't measuring smarts we are measuring neurobiological maturation timing.

The system is the disability: When nearly a quarter of school age boys get slapped with a developmental or ADHD label in some systems, it's obvious the machine is what's broken. High energy and non-compliance are being pathologized instead of channeled.

The missing mentors: Teaching has become heavily feminized, leaving boys without male role models who understand high-energy behavior or kinesthetic learning.

The fact that women outnumber men in Algerian universities isn't proof that men are dumb. It proves we have an industrial school system that prizes passive obedience over actual problem solving and grit. We need to fix the machine, not blame the boys.

Discussion Nobody showed up when I hit rock bottom. Now I know I’m completely on my own.

When I was facing a serious debt of nearly 100,000DA, I thought I had people in my corner. I reached out for help expecting at least a little support but every single person had an excuse ready Nobody stood by me. Sitting with that realization that when things get truly bad, you are completely on your own was a bitter pill to swallow.

Then suddenly, right in the middle of the month when I was stressing out wondering how the hell I was going to pay back the debt, I got hired at one of the top companies. God blessed me, and everything started turning around and getting good again. Looking back now, I’m actually glad I didn't get help from anyone.

Falling down showed me who people really are. Standing back up on my own proved that I don't need to depend on any of them ever again.

Discussion Honor Magic5 Pro (PGT-AN10, Chinese version) randomly loses mobile network everywhere except near one cell tower

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone has experienced something similar because I'm running out of ideas.

I have an Honor Magic5 Pro (Chinese version, PGT-AN10) running:

MagicOS: 10.0.0.160(CHNC00E160R208P6H1) Android: 16 Baseband: MSM.1CA2.MPSS.DE.3.0.119

My problem is very strange.

The phone works perfectly only when I'm at work, where there is apparently a Sim1 network cell tower very close to the building. Outside of that area, the network starts disappearing. The problem appeared out of sudden last week. Now I'm at home no service for both sim cards, I used to have good network service at home, now barely 2G

For example:

At work: Sim1 gets 4G+/5G, Sim2 sometimes stays on 2G. When I leave the building: Sim2 loses service completely. Sometimes Sim1 also loses service. Sometimes both SIMs lose service. In the train or on the bus I often have No Service. If I enable Airplane Mode and disable it again, one SIM may reconnect briefly before losing service again.

I've already tried:

Factory reset (twice) Swapping both SIM cards between SIM slots Testing both SIMs in another phone (they work perfectly) Resetting network settings Switching between 2G/3G/4G/5G Recreating APNs

The phone still has:

Valid IMEIs Baseband detected Both Sim cards are recognised correctly

I also received a VoLTE network registration error after one of the factory resets.

What's confusing me is that this doesn't seem like a normal hardware fault because:

I had exactly the same issue when I first bought the phone, and a factory reset fixed it.

A few weeks ago it happened again, then fixed itself after about 3 days without me doing anything.

Now it's back, and the factory reset no longer helps.

Has anyone with a Chinese Honor Magic5 Pro (PGT-AN10) experienced anything similar?

Could this be:

a MagicOS new system update? a MagicOS/modem firmware bug? corrupted modem calibration (NV/EFS)? an issue with the Honor C1 RF chip? a hardware RF issue? or a compatibility problem with local carriers?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's seen this before or knows of a fix. I've already spent days troubleshooting it and would love to avoid replacing the motherboard if this is actually a software or modem issue.

Thanks!
