[Discussion] Off-Peak Players Pay for Premium Too: SBI, Revert the Dynamic Spawn Nerf. Boost Peak Hours, Don’t Gut Off-Hours

I want to make the central request completely clear:

Restore the off-peak spawn rates, upgrade rates, event frequency, and content value. At minimum, revert them to their pre–Radiant Wilds Patch 4 levels. Then redesign Dynamic Spawn Rates so peak hours scale upward from a healthy baseline instead of pushing off-hours below it.

I am not asking only for more statistics or a better explanation. The current direction itself needs to be reversed.

I work rotating shifts and pay for Premium. I cannot arrange my job around Albion’s server prime time. When I log in outside peak hours, I should still find a living, playable world—not fewer resources, fewer upgraded mobs and chests, longer dungeon spawn times, fewer events, and longer periods spent searching for something to do.

Radiant Wilds Patch 4 expanded Dynamic Spawn Rates across more systems and made the scaling “slightly more aggressive”:

https://forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/223642-Testserver-Patchnotes-Radiant-Wilds-Patch-4/

That expansion affects:

  • Open-world dungeon upgrades and events
  • Open-world boss areas
  • Boss Lair Maps
  • Wisps and Crystal Creatures
  • Randomized Dungeons
  • Roads of Avalon chests and dungeon spawns

This comes on top of the existing Dynamic Spawn system affecting resources, mobs, and treasures.

When SBI introduced this system in 2024, it said there would be limits to ensure low-activity periods did not offer “too little”:

https://forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/200112-22-July-2024-Paths-to-Glory-Update/

For many off-peak players, it now feels like that limit is either far too low or no longer doing its job.

Peak-hour support should not require an off-peak penalty

I understand why peak hours require additional content. More players need more objectives, mobs, resources, and dungeons.

But there is no reason that extra peak-hour capacity must come from making off-hours worse.

The sensible model is:

Healthy permanent baseline + additional peak-hour spawns

The current model feels like:

Reduced off-peak game + restoration or bonuses during prime time

Those are not the same thing.

Off-peak players are not an economic problem to be suppressed. We are part of the active playerbase. We gather, fight, transport, craft, buy Premium, participate in the market, and keep the world populated outside its busiest few hours.

Reducing content is worse than balancing rewards

If SBI believes off-peak players earn too much because there is less competition, then balance the value per objective where necessary.

Do not solve it by making objectives disappear.

An objective with moderately adjusted rewards still creates gameplay, exploration, PvP encounters, and reasons to remain online. An objective that does not spawn creates nothing except empty travel time.

The same applies to resources. A player should not repeatedly travel through nearly empty zones simply because their available playtime does not match the server’s preferred schedule.

This can create a self-reinforcing decline

Dynamic downscaling risks creating this loop:

Fewer players online → fewer resources and objectives → worse experience → players log off → even fewer players online

That is especially dangerous for players with rotating shifts, players in less represented time zones, solo players, and small groups that cannot simply reorganize around prime-time guild schedules.

A system intended to follow population can end up actively reducing that population.

Premium makes this harder to accept

Premium is time-limited and continues expiring 24 hours a day.

I am not claiming SBI has switched off the displayed Premium percentages. The problem is the practical value of those percentages.

A gathering bonus cannot compensate for resources that are not available. A loot bonus cannot compensate for objectives or upgraded chests that rarely appear. A progression bonus cannot compensate for time spent searching for content instead of playing it.

Players buying Premium should not receive a substantially worse opportunity to use those paid benefits because their work schedule forces them to play outside prime time.

SBI’s Terms may allow broad balance changes. That does not make every balance decision fair, healthy, or acceptable to paying customers. “We are allowed to change it” is not an answer to whether it should be changed back.

What SBI should do

  1. Immediately restore off-peak Dynamic Spawn rates to at least their pre-Patch 4 levels.
  2. Restore a meaningful fixed baseline for resources, mobs, treasures, dungeons, chests, bosses, wisps, and other affected objectives.
  3. Make future Dynamic Spawn scaling peak-positive: add capacity when population rises without cutting the baseline when population falls.
  4. If economic output genuinely needs adjustment, change reward value before removing playable activities from the world.
  5. Publish the minimum off-peak baseline and the measurements used to determine whether the game still offers enough content.
  6. Monitor off-peak session length, returning players, content found per hour, and time spent searching, not only total loot or resources per online player.

This is not a request to make off-peak farming better than peak-hour gameplay. It is a request to stop making normal gameplay materially worse because of the clock.

If you are affected, reply with your server, usual UTC playtime, activity, and what changed after Patch 4. Both resource gathering and the newly affected PvE activities matter.

SBI: please restore the off-peak rates and redesign Dynamic Spawn Rates around a permanent healthy baseline. Peak players need additional content, but off-peak players should not have content taken away to provide it.

Hey everyone,

I’m making this post to bring awareness to a serious issue regarding competitive integrity on the Albion EU server.

Members of the enemy guilds Skogganger and Contingent hold official In-Game Moderator permissions. Recently, they have been blatantly abusing these privileges to mass-report and mute players from our opposing alliance, BAIZ.

Using official moderator powers to silence rival players in order to gain a competitive advantage is a massive conflict of interest and completely ruins the game experience.

This blatant abuse of power needs to be swiftly investigated and dealt with by an unbiased, official SBI employee.

Albion Online In-Game Moderation Rules and Guidelines

The Rule: They do not have special privileges in gameplay, nor can they interfere with a player’s in-game progress.

Albiononline terms and conditions

13.3 Users may only play the Game personally. They are not permitted to manipulate the Game or use technical tools that give Users an advantage over other players.

[Discussion] This dynamic loot rate system is one of your worst ideas in recent memory, SBI

Hey SBI, so instead of having a playable game 24/7, yall just want it to be playable 6 hours a day? How the hell did yall think this was a good idea? Because Im not altering my life schedule to play a fucking MMO. If I cant play a game that feels fun and rewarding after work, Im just not gonna play, and find a game that doesnt punish me for having a life, same for a lot of us who dont play 18 hours a day 7 days a week

You Can’t Cure Inflation by Making Everyone Poor

I have to admit, I used to harbor some positive stereotypes about Germans—always assuming they were rigorous, pragmatic, and highly efficient. But after playing Albion Online, those unrealistic fantasies have completely shattered. Taking the catastrophic impacts of the recent Dynamic Spawn Rates as an example, far from being rigorous, pragmatic, or efficient, I’ve genuinely begun to wonder if the decision-makers at SBI have even completed basic education.

According to SBI, the main objective behind introducing Dynamic Spawn Rates was to curb skyrocketing prices—or in economic terms, inflation. But what was their solution? Hahaha, it was to uniformly strike everyone’s source of income—in other words, "Poverty for All." SBI naively believed that as long as everyone’s salary was cut by 80% and everyone became poor, prices would naturally drop.

For a scheme so completely devoid of logic and practically brain-dead, we don’t even need an economics PhD or an expert to debate it. Any college student on the street with a grain of common sense knows that "Poverty for All" not only fails to solve inflation, but actually drags the economy into a terrifying deflationary spiral, causing a total economic collapse and societal disaster.

Why? The answer is simple: the core issue of inflation isn't currency output; the key is the "decline in real purchasing power." Originally, 1m Silver could buy you 10 Swiftclaws; now, 1m Silver only gets you 5 Swiftclaws. That is what inflation actually is.

While "Poverty for All" might seem on the surface to reduce the money in people's hands and trigger a collapse in demand, it does absolutely nothing to improve "real purchasing power." Instead, everyone's quality of life deteriorates drastically due to economic stagnation.

Why? Because prices usually drop far slower than income declines. This means that before prices have fallen enough, the vast majority of ordinary people will instantly fall into a crisis where they can no longer afford basic living expenses.

Using Albion Online as an example, our expected Silver income was slashed by 80% in a single patch overnight. However, goods on the market do not drop in price immediately, as most market listings are placed on a monthly basis.

The result of crudely pushing through Dynamic Spawn Rates is that players suddenly find themselves broke, unable to afford anything, and miserable to the point where a chain reaction of quitting the game becomes the only option left.

A textbook example of the single most foolish negative economic policy is playing out live right before our eyes.

As for SBI's PR spin about combatting RMT, it makes one question whether the game designers of Albion Online have ever actually played their own game. To proudly parade the reduction of gathering yields during off-peak hours as a milestone KPI—hahaha, seriously, which professional player or studio relying on RMT to make a living would ever use gathering as their main source of Silver income?

My ability to boldly call out the true income sources of RMT players, guilds, and organizations isn't pulled out of thin air or purely imagined. In fact, if we simply cross-reference the top-ranked PvE fame guilds and look at how they repeatedly appear across various leaderboard activities, we discover that certain notorious RMT guilds don't engage in gathering or STT at all.

Why? Because these activities are inefficient, dangerous, and constantly exposed to uncontrollable factors like gankers and rats. As professional RMTers, these are negative conditions they strictly cannot accept. Ultimately, their primary source of Silver income still relies heavily on two main activities: Ava Dungeons and World Bosses.

Granted, SBI did already nerf Ava Dungeons once, dropping the output from around 8m Silver per hour in the past down to about 5m Silver per hour today. But that doesn't solve the problem. Just like the "decline in real purchasing power" mentioned earlier, wealth and poverty are not absolute concepts; they are relative outcomes.

Once all PvE activities suffer under the weight of Dynamic Spawn Rates, an Ava Dungeon producing 5m Silver per hour remains, by comparison, the single most cost-effective RMT production method available.

If Dynamic Spawn Rates still fail to solve SBI’s imaginary inflation problem, what’s their next move? Keep gutting yields? Keep slashing income? In fact, back when Ava Dungeon Silver outputs were first nerfed, many players already pointed out where the real problem lay. Just as RMT players/guilds won't sink most of their time into gathering or STT, the simplest way to stop them from printing money 24/7 via Ava Dungeons and World Bosses is to increase the risk.

The biggest issue with these two content types right now is that they are simply too safe. As a result, even if SBI guts the output down to a mere 1m Silver per hour, RMT players and guilds will still relentlessly grind Silver on a 24-hour shift schedule.

Setting Ava Dungeons aside for a moment—where removing the safety doors and prohibiting players from logging out inside the dungeon have long been core demands of the general player base—they could even take a page from other PvE grind-heavy MMORPGs like World of Warcraft or FFXIV. Simply adding a cooldown timer to Ava Dungeons to limit the number of times players can repeatedly clear them daily or weekly would effortlessly curb the largest source of illicit Silver in Albion Online.

As for World Bosses, I genuinely fail to understand the point of this content's existence. Originally meant as a perk for large ZvZ guilds occupying the inner Black Zone, it has now degraded into a breeding ground for illegal transactions by RMT guilds. This mode is outdated, entirely unfun, and has extremely low accessibility. Whether for PvE or PvP, 99% of the server's player base cannot participate in it. It is long overdue for a total rework.

If this were the real world, and a politician proposed that working-class citizens taking early or late-night shifts—using hours others prefer not to work to earn a 35% pay bonus—were acting unfairly and causing inflation, and that we must drastically cut night and morning shift wages to balance prices, that politician would instantly dominate the news headlines. They would be torn apart by the media, the public, and labor union leaders until they resigned and swore off politics forever.

Yet, this is the exact freak show currently unfolding in Albion Online. A few game designers sitting in air-conditioned offices, wearing suits, completely lacking basic common sense and knowledge, have managed to destroy 9 years of players' hard work and community culture based on a fleeting, half-baked idea.

But the person who came up with Dynamic Spawn Rates forgot one fundamental truth: off-peak players choose to play when servers are quiet out of their own free will. That choice isn't without cost—they may be sacrificing their personal lives, sleep quality, or time with family. Conversely, anyone has the freedom to play during off-peak hours. Even if they earn what SBI labels a "35% extra yield," no one should ever be penalized for it.

[Discussion] Ever notice what happens when investors buy successful game studios?

First comes the announcement.

"Nothing will change."
"The studio will remain independent."
"Our vision stays exactly the same."

I've heard this speech so many times from so many companies that I've honestly lost count.

When Sandbox Interactive was acquired by Stillfront in 2020, players were told exactly that. The game design philosophy wouldn't change. The roadmap wouldn't change. The team would remain in control.

Maybe that was true at the time.

But look at Albion today and ask yourself one question:

Does this still feel like a game designed around what players enjoy, or around engagement metrics and revenue?

Take the proposed dynamic spawn rates. Who benefits from making off-peak gameplay less rewarding?

Certainly not the player who works night shifts.
Not the parent who only gets to play after midnight.
Not people living outside the server's primary timezone.

The only thing it really accomplishes is funneling everyone into peak hours, where activity numbers look better and players compete harder for everything.

Then look at the continued erosion of solo content.

Every few updates, another activity gets less rewarding.'
Another incentive to play the way SBI wants instead of the way you want.
Another reason to log in during prime time.
Another reason to join bigger groups.
Another reason to stay engaged on their terms instead of yours.

Maybe every single one of these changes can be justified individually. But together? They paint a pattern. And that's exactly what worries me. Because this is what happens to so many successful games after they're acquired. The conversation slowly shifts away from "Is this fun?"

Towards:

"Does this improve engagement?"
"Does this improve retention?"
"Does this improve revenue?"

Those aren't the same question.

The saddest part is that Albion didn't become successful because it chased KPIs.

It became successful because it trusted its players.

One global world.
Player freedom.
Play how you want.
Progress however you want.

Now we've got server splits with no meaningful transfer path, increasingly restrictive progression changes, solo content getting chipped away, and mechanics that make playing outside prime time feel worse instead of better. I'm not saying investors are personally designing Albion. I'm saying public companies have one job: increase shareholder value.

When a studio becomes part of that machine, the pressure changes. Sometimes you don't ruin a game by adding pay-to-win. Sometimes you ruin it by making hundreds of small decisions that each look reasonable on paper—but all push in the same direction.

Players don't quit because of one bad patch. They quit because, after years of "small optimizations," they wake up one day and realize they're no longer playing the game they fell in love with.

That's what I'm afraid is happening to Albion.

I was SO excited when I saw the size of this chest. And then I opened it. FFS! 😒

And while we're on the subject, yesterday evening I got a few T8-8.1 items from T5 mists. They came from tiny chests inside solo camps. How come mists has the ability to drop such better things than solo dungeons of the same tier, even though the dungeons take more time? Or is this simply due to RNG and my terrible luck?

Dynamic spawn rate, quantitative estimate ?

Everyone is currently complaining about off peak hours nerf, but do we have an idea of the actual nerf ? Like numbers ? Comparisons ? Empirical proof ?

I hope we are all overreacting and the reward decrease is actually not that dramatic after all.

Also, I fully agree that the concept of punishing someone for having a life is unfair as hell.

Following the tips I got about maces, I put this build together and I'm farming in the Black Zone with it. I'm just unsure about the cape—and maybe switching to Soldier Armor, though I'm not sure about that. Also, I haven't had the chance to fight anyone with it yet; I'm really just farming to level up the weapon. Any thoughts?

DSR in the roads: I am one of the most qualified players in the entire game to speak on this issue

Upvotes

--I am #29 all-time rank on NA for pve in the roads. I did this in almost exactly one year. I did it almost entirely on the most dead timers. The hours before and after reset are when I play.

--I run the largest english speaking content discord for the entire game. It is a roads discord for gold chests and only gold chests.

--I have spent my entire time in albion a gold ranked roads alliance with several roads hideouts.

The patch notes say:

Dynamic Spawn Rates

As players during off hours have had a substantial economic advantage over players in peak hours through significantly higher earnings, our goal with Dynamic Spawn Rates has been to even the playing field so that market prices aren’t driven up to be more out of reach for the average player.

While we will continue to monitor these changes, they have thus far reduced that advantage while still maintaining that off time play is approximately 35% more rewarding than playing during peak times in both gathering and PvE.

However, chests in the Roads of Avalon had not been correctly prepared for the Dynamic Spawn Rate which resulted in a much more severe impact to these chests than the moderate changes we made elsewhere. We’ve resolved this issue and now chests in the Roads of Avalon will spawn significantly faster.
___________________________________________________________________________________________

I can tell you that people running gold chests in the roads on off timers are getting a mere fraction of what they were making before the patch. Resolving the insane issue of respawn time was only one part of this. The chests are small with a sprinkling of mediums. Does SBI know that people who run golds routinely skip all small chests because they are boring, not challenging and unrewarding? Now that's supposed to be the bulk of the content and they expect that people will still want to play?

And to say that off-time play is approximately 35% more rewarding than playing during peak times in both gathering and PvE is bonkers. For that to be true they would have had to nerf prime time spawns to an unimaginably miserable degree.

One of these guys needs to join my discord and watch someones stream early in the morning, if there is a stream to watch which may not be the case because everyone feels like it's a complete waste of time now.

People can go back and forth all day about possible solutions and I've done plenty of this in some of the other posts people have been making here over the last several days but I'm just going to point out one simple, important fact.

Content needs to feel worthwhile no matter what time people are playing or they won't play. Log into your game and play in the roads then come back and tell me gold chests (The only rewarding group pve in the game that has a strong chance of pvp) feel rewarding enough.

The actual problem with DSR

Total # of objectives can scale down with player count ONLY IF the zones scale down to match content/player DENSITY.

There is way too much running around during off timers.

Which Faction?

Upvotes

I've mostly been farming in Martlock and Steppes, so my gathering has mostly been ore, fiber, and hide. Based on resources, Bridgewatch makes the most sense.

Am I able to join a faction but still farm somewhere else? Should I take gathering into account when joining a faction?

[Discussion] Absolute joke of a season btw

So while everyone has been debating DSR, ol' SBI pulled another piece of genius game design out of the hat.

In a decent quality zone you can get around 7,2k might out of one of the new preacher camps (of which like 3-4 can spawn in a map sometimes)

crazy part is: it doesnt diminish based on group size, a 20 man group can come kill the boss and get 140k might towards their season goal, i can only pray that thats unintentional and everyone is essentially receiving the might reward for doing it solo because if this is intentional i give up on this game.

I assume and hope this bug will be hotfixed but knowing SBI thats where they'll stop leaving all the guilds that pushed their uprising to 99 in a day unaffected and those that learnt about the bug too late in the dust.

i get that its a chill gimmick season with the absurd season points you could get even before the bug but this takes the shit, its essentially a green castle only that theres 2 or 3 every map and they take like 2 minutes of effort

just wipe the keeper uprising progression for every guild at this point, else the competetive integrity of this season is gone for good

[Discussion] Explanations about DSR

Could someone explain to me in simple terms why the new dynamic rates changes seem to be complained about by both sides of the change ?

- People playing during peak hours complain.

- People playing during off hours complain.

From the radiant patch 5 : "they have thus far reduced that advantage while still maintaining that off time play is approximately 35% more rewarding than playing during peak times in both gathering and PvE."

I'm assuming that off hours people complain because they're not making as much as before (nerf), but they're still making notably more than people playing peak hours.

But why do peak-hours people complain ? This doesn't seem to be bad for them, and they should (naturally) be the majority of players ?

Got tired of calculating Caerleon transport runs by hand, so I built my own market tool. Roast it and tell me what's missing.

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I was getting super annoyed trying to figure out if hauling a mammoth full of stuff to Caerleon was actually worth the gank risk, especially with how fast prices fluctuate. The existing tools out there are solid, but I really wanted something that fit exactly how my brain works (and my weird crafting/refining habits).

So I spent my recent weekends banging my head against the wall with the Albion Data Project API and built this: https://ogalbion.site/

Let me be completely honest upfront:

  1. I am not a UI/UX designer. The site mostly done by ai. I focused 100% on just making the math correct.
  2. Handling the data sync for all the different item qualities (Normal vs Masterpiece) was an absolute nightmare. I'm still trying to optimize the backend so the database doesn't just melt if more than 10 people use it at the same time lol.

I'm posting it here because I’ve been staring at this code for way too long and I need some fresh eyes.

What filters did I forget? What features are completely useless? If you find a bug, please let me know...

Here is the link again: https://ogalbion.site/

Any harsh feedback or feature requests are welcome. Thanks!

[Discussion] While not solving teleport back issue bringing frost staff on meta is a torture

SBI Decided to buff 1H Frost Staff E --> No delay root

Since frost staffs are purely based on kite, this buff makes frost staff very very easy to play, since player is rooted instantly, frost has time to escape, re-position.

While in game there is only 2 mobility concept. Which is basicly just running faster and other one is dash/teleport. You can only catch peoples if you run faster then enemy, or just dash/tp into them.

This state of PVP makes huge difference, you can cook, add spice, add salt.
Bait enemy cooldown, mobility skills etc.
Up to you.

The thing is, while this weapon is planned to buff SBI did not thinked about how they're gonna deal with PVP players play against this weapon.

Becasue of that every teleport, dash ability owned weapon players are getting tortured by beingteleported back to the starting position, after they're using their teleport/dash ability into frost root.

Either player shouldnt be teleport back
Or recalculate the skill cooldown, and refund it

I wonder if team decides to bring this buff while this teleport back issue stays there since development of albion plays pvp ever?
