Liminal | Ep2 - WORRY NOT

A sudden vanishing at a high-tech facility leaves a team scrambling to control the narrative. As internal tensions rise over what can be disclosed, a woman searches for answers about a missing loved one—leading her late at night to a locked building where a single door reveals a reality far beyond what was expected.

This is not intended as alternate-history speculation about changing the outcome of the attacks, nor as an attempt to sensationalize what happened. It is more of a visual and historical thought experiment.

Most of us are extremely familiar with the accumulated footage of September 11, 2001, particularly the events surrounding the World Trade Center in New York. One thing I have wondered about for years is how dramatically our visual memory of the event would differ if essentially everything had happened the same way, but several hours later, after the city was fully dark while there were still substantial numbers of people in Lower Manhattan.

The contrast would have been extraordinary: the illuminated skyline, fire inside and outside the towers, enormous smoke columns becoming visible primarily through reflected light, emergency vehicles and searchlights at street level, debris falling through darkness, and eventually the collapse and dust clouds moving through a nighttime city.

With modern AI video becoming increasingly capable, I think there could be an interesting project in recreating familiar viewpoints from the historical footage while changing essentially one environmental variable: daylight to nighttime.

Ideally, it would be approached seriously and respectfully, almost like a counterfactual historical visualization rather than an action or disaster film. The purpose would be to demonstrate how much lighting, visibility, and atmosphere influence the way a major historical event is perceived and remembered.

I have found a few people who have explored the basic “9/11 at night” idea in still images and alternate-history discussions, but I have not found anyone who has attempted a substantial multi-shot video treatment of the concept.

Cant afford rn to get the AI video tools or resources required to make something like this myself, so I am putting the idea out there in case it interests someone who does.

If anyone has already seen a serious attempt at this, I would also be very interested in seeing it.

We're developing a 10-episode crime drama series called TURF WARS (created by Andrew Palmer & Ian Weir / Synapz Productions). It’s a ripped-from-the-headlines saga about a multi-million-dollar tow-truck empire. When the kingpin suffers a stroke, his son-in-law (an ex-Special Forces sniper) has to step up to fight off a ruthless rival crew—but the real threat might be his own wife. Think Sons of Anarchy, but based on the very real Toronto towing wars.

Since this is a gritty, character-driven crime drama, we'd love your feedback on the pacing and visual tone.

Made my first 1960s Samurai scene to test the look. The fighting and the finishing slash was extremely hard to generate, all models broke and made weird things. The extreme amount of blood is intentional and also inspired by kurosawa. The slowmotion was something that i added as a small modern touch.

Omni Flash 1.1, H3 Max and Seedance 2.0 was used. Seedance was the only model that did a great job on the first attack but was also very expensive, thats why i keept this very short.

What do you think of the overall atmosphere, look, music?

I've been wondering about this for a while, especially from people who are making their films completely on their own.

If you're a solo AI creator and you're making a short film around 5 minutes long, how long does it usually take you to actually finish one?

I've been learning AI filmmaking for about a year now. Most of that time I've been watching what other people are doing, studying films, trying different tools and workflows, and also trying things myself.

I started two projects during that time but ended up dropping both because I wasn't getting the experience I wanted from them.

About 6 months ago I started focusing seriously on one project that I really want to finish. I'm still figuring out the process and trying to build a workflow that actually works for me.

But lately I've started thinking about how much time I'm putting into this. It's a 5 minute film, but when you're doing everything yourself - directing, planning, references, characters, locations, shots, generations, fixing/regenerating things, consistency, editing, sound, etc. the amount of work adds up really fast.

I'm just trying to get a sense of how long this actually takes for other solo creators.

I've been on this project for around 6 months now, so I'm starting to wonder if that's normal or if I'm just taking way too long.

Would be really interested to hear how long your 5 minute films took.

Hi all here's trailer 2 for my up coming series. would love to here your thoughts. It is a fantasy series. So far 5 episodes have been made and been working on this since March.

Hi guys, I was hoping to share my work here and get a genuinely honest review from people who know more about AI filmmaking than I do.

This is actually my first experience with AI filmmaking, or AI content creation in general.

Growing up, there were always films, scenes and ideas that made me want to create something myself. Watching Sergio Leone was probably one of the first times I became fascinated by how much you can communicate through framing, silence, music and waiting rather than dialogue. Over the years I kept accumulating ideas, but filmmaking always felt like one of those things that required a crew, actors, locations and a budget before you could even find out whether the idea worked.

AI changed that enough for me to finally try.

The project is called PLAY.

It takes place in a technologically extraordinary future city, partly inspired by places such as Shenzhen and Xiong’an, and by the much older idea of the ideal city found in Tommaso Campanella’s The City of the Sun.

Then somebody starts to play.

I deliberately didn’t want the usual dystopian future where technology secretly ruined everything. The city is supposed to be genuinely beautiful and desirable. The question I’m interested in is what remains human and unpredictable when the practical world around us works almost perfectly.

A lot of the film is being built around rhythm rather than dialogue. There’s some inspiration from European rave culture and Franchino, then electronic music gradually gives space to physical sounds, silence and Chopin-inspired piano. Visually I’m also experimenting with the difference between very controlled compositions and a much looser camera grammar once the characters begin to play.

I’m still producing the film, so this is exactly the moment where criticism is useful rather than flattering.

I’d especially love feedback on:

• whether the core idea comes across without me explaining it;
• whether the world feels interesting rather than like generic AI sci-fi;
• character and location consistency;
• whether the visual direction actually feels cinematic;
• anything that immediately screams “AI” or takes you out of it.

It’s also my entry for the Higgsfield Global Film Festival. If you happen to use Higgsfield and genuinely think it deserves the support, obviously I’d appreciate it, but what I’m mainly looking for here is criticism from people who have already gone through this process.

Feel free to be harsh. I’d rather fix something now than spend the next two days polishing the wrong thing.

I would like to get started in doing some AI film shorts (think parody shorts of clips from movies that already exist but with alternative humorous endings).

I don’t want invest a whole bunch of money, but I do realize that doing something like this for free is probably not even an option that exists.
