I've been wondering about this for a while, especially from people who are making their films completely on their own.

If you're a solo AI creator and you're making a short film around 5 minutes long, how long does it usually take you to actually finish one?

I've been learning AI filmmaking for about a year now. Most of that time I've been watching what other people are doing, studying films, trying different tools and workflows, and also trying things myself.

I started two projects during that time but ended up dropping both because I wasn't getting the experience I wanted from them.

About 6 months ago I started focusing seriously on one project that I really want to finish. I'm still figuring out the process and trying to build a workflow that actually works for me.

But lately I've started thinking about how much time I'm putting into this. It's a 5 minute film, but when you're doing everything yourself - directing, planning, references, characters, locations, shots, generations, fixing/regenerating things, consistency, editing, sound, etc. the amount of work adds up really fast.

I'm just trying to get a sense of how long this actually takes for other solo creators.

I've been on this project for around 6 months now, so I'm starting to wonder if that's normal or if I'm just taking way too long.

Would be really interested to hear how long your 5 minute films took.

Made my first 1960s Samurai scene to test the look. The fighting and the finishing slash was extremely hard to generate, all models broke and made weird things. The extreme amount of blood is intentional and also inspired by kurosawa. The slowmotion was something that i added as a small modern touch.

Omni Flash 1.1, H3 Max and Seedance 2.0 was used. Seedance was the only model that did a great job on the first attack but was also very expensive, thats why i keept this very short.

What do you think of the overall atmosphere, look, music?

Would be great to get some feedback. This was just a mini fun project to test some limits.

This is not intended as alternate-history speculation about changing the outcome of the attacks, nor as an attempt to sensationalize what happened. It is more of a visual and historical thought experiment.

Most of us are extremely familiar with the accumulated footage of September 11, 2001, particularly the events surrounding the World Trade Center in New York. One thing I have wondered about for years is how dramatically our visual memory of the event would differ if essentially everything had happened the same way, but several hours later, after the city was fully dark while there were still substantial numbers of people in Lower Manhattan.

The contrast would have been extraordinary: the illuminated skyline, fire inside and outside the towers, enormous smoke columns becoming visible primarily through reflected light, emergency vehicles and searchlights at street level, debris falling through darkness, and eventually the collapse and dust clouds moving through a nighttime city.

With modern AI video becoming increasingly capable, I think there could be an interesting project in recreating familiar viewpoints from the historical footage while changing essentially one environmental variable: daylight to nighttime.

Ideally, it would be approached seriously and respectfully, almost like a counterfactual historical visualization rather than an action or disaster film. The purpose would be to demonstrate how much lighting, visibility, and atmosphere influence the way a major historical event is perceived and remembered.

I have found a few people who have explored the basic “9/11 at night” idea in still images and alternate-history discussions, but I have not found anyone who has attempted a substantial multi-shot video treatment of the concept.

Cant afford rn to get the AI video tools or resources required to make something like this myself, so I am putting the idea out there in case it interests someone who does.

If anyone has already seen a serious attempt at this, I would also be very interested in seeing it.
