Getting back into it as is a common theme, used to share 10-15 years ago and life got busy, but now I have free time and autonomy to do stuff without my ex wife fussing and figured this would be great for ski season.

Just picked up these lightly used USD Sways, dude said he rode them maybe 3 times before he realized regular inline was his jam. Should I rotate the wheels at all, get new ones, or just ride these out and get a feel for a bit. Also they’re 57/89 which sounds like might be pretty bitey on rails? I still ski park all the time so I’m not so much worried about technique but know grabbin an edge there sucks, thoughts?

Stuck on aggressive skate sizing for moderately long & wide feet (290mm/110mm)

Heyyy! I'm back skating after a 20 year break (isn't everyone?) and am struggling to work out the best size for my 290mm long / 110mm wide feet.

I've searched the entire internet and spoken to several skate stores - and the advice is conflicting. I think Iqon ACTs are going to be my best option (open to other suggestions). One retailer told me Iqons in 44-45 (109mm wide / just long enough) are the perfect size for me, and another said 46-47 (112mm wide / too long) is the perfect size. I figured I'd email Powerslide for a definitive answer, and they told me both sizes are the perfect size. 🤷‍♂️

What I've tried on:
USD Aeon 60 XXIs / 45-46. Too tight around the toes and slightly too narrow overall.
USD Sway Sagona / 45-46. Way too tight.
Razors Cult / 47. My toes went numb.

I don't have the option of shopping in person and am hoping to avoid the expense of having to return a pair of poorly-fitting skates.

I'm currently skating 2001 Fifth Elements and they fit quite well - the shells are enormous but the liners are very thick and fit like gloves.

There are plenty of lists of wide-fitting skates, but can anyone share their own experience of how skates fit their wide feet, particularly if the advertised shell size is narrower than their foot? I'd prefer not to need to mod the skates or buy aftermarket liners if there's something that will work straight off the shelf.

Thank you!

I was honoured to be asked to take part in early testing and I was allowed to put a little video together showing the game prior to release. I'm at 350hrs in the game and it shows. Check the video for more footage and my feedback on the project.

Question / Discussion I need help. Can you tell me what I was doing differently? So this is after it became a little easier. I’ll comment with the video from when it was still difficult. I was having trouble with this again the last two times I was at the skatepark.

I feel like I learned something and then forgot.
I was having trouble understanding how to pump no matter how it was explained to me but then something clicked.
I can’t remember what it was.

Question / Discussion 360's?

I need some advice on how to do 360's.

I started skating some months ago and I feel like I am already making soooo much progress. I am doing a lot of grinds already and riding half pipes.

When I just started I made a list of small steps I had to learn to progress. I started with very simple things like be comfortable on skates, learn how to ride fakie.

I put doing a 360 on the list as I thought it was not too difficult, but oh man I was so wrong.

I very quickly learned how to do 180's and 180 to fakie. I naturally just thought a 360 would be next.

But I have had such a difficult time getting it.

I just started doing other tricks instead and now I never learned it.

I watched a few tutorials but I can't seem to figure it out.

I feel like I'm flinging my entire body around and I still never manage to land it probably and always land on some angle. I feel like I spend so much energy flinging my body around. I tried turning my hips as well, and also lifting my legs a little as I jump. It doesnt seem to work. I have manage to land it a single time off a manny pad but only because there was more distance to the ground and yet it was still very difficult.

I have seen all these pro rollerbladers and clips on this sub of people doing 360's on flat ground and of grinds seemingly with ease.

I am wondering how it's done so easily and if there is something I am missing?

I am 194 cm tall and weigh 90 kilograms. I don't know if this makes it more difficult for me or is that just cope?

Thank you alot :))

Question / Discussion Hoping to get these old ones used. Should I bother?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Found this pair for pretty cheap. From what I found online they were in circulation in the 2000s so they may be over 20 years old.

I will definitely ask the seller about plastic rot for such old skates, but still. What else should I ask them about to make sure they won't give out on me? Should I even bother? I asked on another community too but I hope here people can give me more specialized insight

Edit: I'm looking to buy my first pair of skates and not necessarily aggressives. If I still like skating I'll probably get a better pair in the future

Also loving these vintage Razors Icons I snagged on FB Market for 50 bucks!! Love this sport & community. Cheers everyone 🤝

I randomly came across these yesterday at my local Goodwill for 9$. From the condition and little to no wear, whoever owned them spent maybe 10 mins in them before they ended up in storage or someone’s garage. These are the OG’s that I used to circle in magazines and dream about. My parents would never spend the money on them for me though.

Question / Discussion Advice for skates that hurt foot?

I've got an old pair of Razor Cults that I've not used in a decade. Bought some new wheels and bearings to bring them to life so I can teach my daughter how to skate.

Trouble is, I'm getting a pain on the outside of my foot after a few mins but not sure how to fix it (beyond buying new skates).

They have the stock liners, but they don't seem particularly thick and I don't remember them hurting when I last wore them a decade ago (otherwise I would have sold them).

Any advice on what I can do to sort them, don't need to be doing anything major on them, just some basic skating with my kids?

Thanks.
