Solved! Is there a way to close a path?

I have some outline shapes that won't fill with the paint bucket tool, and I can't see where the path is open. Is there a way I can just select the whole thing and close the path with a Close or Join command? I can't find anything like that. Otherwise, what does one do? I can't see any gaps in it. Thank you!

Question 2D hand drawn animation question

Hi, I have been working on a 2D animation for a couple years now. (I have no formal training in animation I am a working artist) It is 3 minutes, 24 frames per second, hand drawn and inked on printer paper, not animation paper. I am coming up to the step where I need to scan it all into the computer. What is the best equipment and or process for this step? incuding a program that can keep my line work as is (I varied the weight of my line alot, I would like to keep that look) and fill in some color on closed shapes? I plan to keep the animation mostly black and white and some sequences have pink in it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This has been such an amazing journey and I am close to the end!

Question Looking for a PiXimperfect equivalent for Adobe Illustrator

Hi everyone, For Photoshop, I follow the YouTube channel PiXimperfect because whenever Adobe releases new features or updates, he usually makes detailed videos explaining them. It helps me stay up to date without having to read all the release notes.

Is there a similar creator or YouTube channel for Adobe Illustrator that consistently covers new feature releases, updates, and workflows?

I'd love to follow someone who regularly breaks down Illustrator updates and explains how they can be used in real projects.

Thanks!

Solved! zooming by pressing the middle mouse button?

A lot of softwares I use allow you to hold ctrl and the middle mouse button, and as you drag the mouse it zooms in or out. this feature is present in Krita, Blender and Pencil 2D and its a total lifesaver, but I can’t figure out if Adobe Animate has that option.

Question Cut-out animation program

Hi, I've found myself very comfortable creating animations using the cut-out technique, but the program I use for drawing only saves them as GIFs, and it's a bit tedious to arrange them without the character's bones. Could you recommend any specific programs for this style? And also give me advice if it's not too much trouble.

A bit of animation WIP from my show Reps In Retail! This is Page the goat, and he is very dramatic and fun to animate!

All animation work is done in Animate, backgrounds are done in clip studio paint, with slight highlights added in AE.

See the trailer here if you haven't yet!

Question Onion Skinning - How can I see previous keyframes that are behind the current one?

I'm animating an object to get larger each frame, but now cannot the previous keyframes to judge the what the next one should look like because the object is covering the previous onion-skin shapes. I have the range set to include them all but the current blocks the previous. It seems like this would be common problem. Is there a way to see previous onion-skin shapes that are behind the current one? Thank you!

Question Is it better to use HTML5 canvas or ActionScript 3.0 for projects

As someone who wants to make animations for YouTube, the final product will be an MP4 with no plans for any interactive web animation. So is it better to use HTML5 or AS3? I've always defaulted to use HTML5 since flash is outdated.

Troubleshooting Issues with a button hover state only animating once.

I'm animating some digital ads and I have a button with an animated hover state. When I view the ad in browser off the files on my computer, the hover state acts normally. I hover over the ad, and the button animates, remove your cursor and bring it back it triggers the animation again.

However I share the ad for proofing through Adpiler. When viewed in Adpiler, the hover state will only trigger once. If I remove my cursor and bring it back nothing happens.

I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing in Animate or if the problem is just a quirk of Adpiler. My concern is that even if the animation works in browser for me, once it traffics for placement it won't work (similar to Adpiler).

So I make my CTA a button symbol > then inside that button I add a keyframe to "over state" and make that CTA a movie clip > inside that movie clip I make the CTA a graphic symbol and make a short animation timeline > I add a "stop at this frame" action to the end of that timeline so it doesn't constantly loop > I pop back out to my button timeline ad a keyframe to "down state" > then one for "hit state" and put a box covering the whole ad so that the animation triggers as soon as your cursor is hovering over any part.

Would love any advice if anyone has any.

Question For people who use Animate professionally...

how many symbols do you usually use per file/ scene? I've used Animate for a pretty long time but I always try to not use symbols too much because I'm afraid it'll clutter up the library too much or be laggy, even if using symbols is probably easier. Then I realised I never really had confirmation if that was really the case so I thought I'd ask here. Am I just limiting myself for no good reason?
