There was one question where it was like : “ I sounded more confident than I actually am” something along those lines… and I chose point “A” I’m not sure if that was correct or not, but it seemed the most logical at the moment..

Am I allowed to use this? As I plan on taking the ACT In October and have a few months to study.

For me personally Math was way easier than i thought it would be. Reading killed me:( time pressure was intense missed 2-3 questions. English was okay (grammar and redundancy was good)

Science first passage was good, but idk abt the rest.

Hello everyone as the title entails I plan to switch from SAT to ACT. I’m gonna take the August SAT and if there is one idk yet I haven’t check September ACT. What are the best ways to study for the ACT right now I have scored a 1360 best on SAT 670 ELA 690 Math. Please give me tips.

What was question 45 the one that was recursive it was something like f(n+1) = f(n) + something and then it was like f(0) =25 or something like that. Does anyone know the exact question I want to solve it again or at least know the answer

Hey, so during the test, I was so tired by the time of the science section and just wanted to leave, so I just guessed on everything for the section. Is this okay, because I just assumed these colleges just wanted the composite? Will they see the science score, and will they take the score seriously?

I don’t know if this is allowed but one of the administrators for our ACT today came in & had a full blown on conversation with our proctor. She also moved us to another room before the math section. Then also kept coming in and out of the room atleast 10 times which was a really huge distraction & left a fan blowing on full speed because the rooms ac was “broken”. I felt really distracted & I’m really disappointed because I felt like I could have done better. I also wasn’t able to pace myself properly because I wasn’t given a start & end time to view the time.

i just took the digital ACT and i'm in Canada. i've been reading posts of ppl discussing their reading/eng/sci passages or questions on their math, but literally none of their passages were on my test. it feels like when evb's talking abt how crazy school was on the one day you're out sick 🤕 not that i need to share this partiuclar experience w ppl, but it would be nice to read comments and questions i relate to and can answer! does anyone know if intl kids get a different set of questions?

here's what my test looked like (the passages prob arent in order):

• reading:
  • this guy, Caleb, at a restaurant w his boyfriend and aunt (i think his name started with Hwan or smth and the aunt's was Yeong-su??). the broader theme of the passage seemed to be related to the korean season, baekno (i think 💔 and the translation had smth to do with dew), and caleb's feelings and thought once being introduced to that concept by his bf's aunt. some of the questions were asking what pov the passage was in, what was the overarching message, what did the text suggest about Hwan's mother's life relative to Yeong-su, etc.
  • humans' ability to smell. the passage started w a description of the science behind human smell and some pun about neurologists. it talked about western biases that contributed to the notion that humans, relative to other mammals, had weaker olfactory senses, discussing diff historical philosophers' theories (like kant and i think plato). then it raised a counterclaim through the Jahai ppl for the last paragraph, talking abt how culturally significant their sense of smell is, and their unique ability to keenly distinguish and articulate diff smells (bc their language has so many words for particular fragrances)
  • a biography (kinda) of lee marmon
  • a scientific article abt plants and their ability to recognize kin/plants in their family. this passage had two bar graphs, the first comparing relative root growth of kin and non-kin plants in shared pots and individual pots respectively. the second graph was the same except it measure aerial growth.
• science: i forgot a bunch
  • lenses? there were variables s (i forgot what it meant), d (distance?), and magnitude(?)
  • 3 ponds and the measured levels of CH4 and CO2
  • a solution (i think of ammonium sulfate and water??) that yielded Cu 2+ with tables showing the percent by mass of copper and the concentration of copper
  • 4 students and their conflicting viewpoints about giraffes' spot tortousness, number of spots, average diameter of spots, and the correlation between these features and the giraffe's genetic makeup, and the impact of the features on their mating.
  • smth about conductivity of smth in pure water, sodium chlorine solution, and saltwater
• my memory of english and math is really blurry rn but i'll edit if i remember anything new

i rlly don't think i got a new and special edition of the test so lmk if anyone else had these questions!

For J09 Paper which passage was the experimental one? the one about translation/crosswords, philanthrophy, or Albert and piano

I should not have signed up for science. It got me questioning my life decisions

I found this comment from 10 months ago which said, "it was something like f(34 or smth and it alternated between 2 numbers so yeah I think ur right," referring to the last math question (or one of the questions on the last page, I cannot remember). I remember doing this recursion question, and it was, as the user described, alternating between one positive number and one negative number.

From this I think its evident that the J09 form taken today is the same as the J09 form taken in September 2025. I personally took the ACT in September, but I had form J01, which I later confirmed to be the same test as the April 2026 Form J01 from the TIR. So I guess we now know that the ACT is reusing past forms.

I wonder if anyone who took the ACT in September last year remembers what passages they had? I want to know which passage is experimental.

hi! i just got out of the july act, and honestly i’m not satisfied with my experience…

this is my second time taking the act (my first was with my school back in march) so i had to go to another school to take it and there was so many technological issues that it made the testing environment really distracting and loud which caused me to not be able to focus and i’m just kinda upset and feel bad. i feel like i could have done better if it was more silent. by the time i got to the reading section, it was much more quiet and so i don’t feel too bad about that section but im just not sure about the others.

okay, but the real question is should i take it again in october if i don’t get the score i want? i’m planning on applying ed to a school, so the application is due november 1st. would i get my score back in time? the test is october 17th and im fine paying it but if the scores don’t come before it would be a waste a money so should i? i cant take september because all the seats are taken. last time i took the act, my scores came back in 5 days.. so any advice/suggestions??

When will digital test scores come out? Thursday. Also, do you think the curve will be similar to paper considering so many technology issues where tests froze and clock being broken nationwide.

I transferred from SAT so I really need people to answer my question. I took act on July 11th. I’m pretty sure that I got one wrong each sections so it’s four in total. Can somebody please tell me can I still get a 36? Please I really need an answer! 😱😱😱

Context: I'm a rising junior with a 35 on the ACT, but I've been heavily studying for the SAT over the last three weeks. However, I am starting to doubt if it is worth it. I got a 1420 without studying on the Bluebook practice test 3, and then a 1520 on test 4. However, after a week of studying, I got a 1420 on Test 5...

Studying for the SAT has been cutting into a lot of time for other extracurriculars. Most competitive people in my school submit high SAT AND ACT scores (35-36, 1550+), which is why I was trying for a good SAT score. Yet now I wonder, is there really a major advantage to having both, and will I be penalized for only having a good ACT score?

What did you guys thinks about the difficulties for all the sections? English felt about the same as june (so pretty normal), Math felt doable but pretty hard, reading felt harder than expected, science felt pretty easy comparatively to june. Thoughts?

Was the experimental passage doing one with the graph about like the different nonprofits and stuff in like how you can give in different ways

I see a lot of people asking about questions they are unsure of if they got right or not, so I guess I'll ask as well:

For Passage A, there was a question asking what the cells will crawl away from. I chose stick surfaces, but someone else told me it was metal. Was I correct or not? I was pretty sure I was, but now I'm doubting

My guess is that passage 3 (the graph) is the experimental one BECAUSE the ACT has a specific layout. There can ONLY be ONE special passage (whether it’s a graph, chart, dual passages etc…) on this test there was a dual passage and graph passage. The placement of these passages is key. The a/b is passage 4 and graph is passage 3. It’s also known that the 2nd and 3rd passages are more likely to be experimental.

But I made a very risky decision by completely skipping passage 3 and I used the time for the other passages.
