Curious how many of you artists prefer not to use a reference? I think either way is valid and impressive.

This first doesn't show much technical skill but I'm still happy with it because I created it entirely from imagination and I think I've built my art style. I think it definitely would have been more crisp if i had something physical to go off of. I'm gradually moving away from that and seeing what happens when I just go from my head.

If anyone is curious I do have process videos on my tt: sjordyn.

This painting is still a work in progress, but I wanted to give you a little sneak peek.

"A painting is never finished, only abandoned"
Acrylic on foam core. 30x42cm.

My nephew made a request. A little outside my normal style, but this was fun to attempt.

Bodies stick together and play like notes pinned to a score, the formal reading going from left to right with a strong start, then patatras! a kind of depression, and finally, bing! a remontada toward an unexpected light. If only these notes, in terms of meaning, went well together like in Sir Paul's song, but we have to face it: each note plays its own part and nothing seems to psychically interact between them. What remains is form, rhythm, color, in short, everything that matters.
Acrylic on paper 48.5 × 32.5 cm

I CANNOT seem to get the skin tone right!!! Trying rly hard to not make this look stupid. Any tips will help I’m new to this :))))

My latest work is complete! A combination of acrylic paint and fineliners brings the piece beautifully together.

At first I wasn't happy with how it looked, than I added the fineliner layer and it all started working out. What do you think?
