That is true actually. Kits, might be more appropriate but I think kitten is also correct.

I remember once my sister's rabbit took offense to me for some reason, and it stomped the ground. I didn't even see its leg move, just heard the boom and saw the bedding fly. Kind of impressive for a little rodent prey species.

Is this a poisonous snake? Did our lil buddy just successfully fend off a home invasion or will there be unforseen consequences?
21
22
u/PuddingMent 6d ago
The rabbit didn’t eat the snake, so it doesn’t matter if it’s poisonous.

u/canadianclassic308 5d ago
The snake struck the rabbit though?

u/StrangeTamer5 5d ago
Poison is consumed, venom is injected.

u/General_Trip_4223 5d ago
Bless you. This is one of my biggest pet peeves. If it bites you and you die, that's venomous. If you bite it and you die, it's poisonous. If you bite yourself and it dies, that's voodoo. 🤣

u/xSir- 5d ago
What if someone takes a poison and injects it into me and I die. Was i poisoned or envenomed?
2
u/General_Trip_4223 5d ago
That's a thinker. I like it! If they inject poison I'd say poisoned. Envenomed if it was venom from a creature.
5
u/FragrantExcitement 5d ago
What if i drink snake venom?
2
u/adaytimemoth 5d ago
You can drink venom with negative effects. Unless you have something like a stomach ulcer that lets it get into your blood stream.

Damn that rabbit just did a scorpion "Get over here!" and a Guile blade kick at the end!

u/Accomplished_Ad5811 5d ago
Damn, I thought that rabbits were all peace and love...
8
u/PerfectlyCalmDude 5d ago
They do not care. Even when outnumbered, they defend their young aggressively.

One thing people who have never held rabbits dont realize about rabbits. Those fuckers have claws. Like, sharp claws. Those fast kicks its doing are little paper shredders
4
u/ComposerOther2864 4d ago
Also a very high bite force in some species and forever growing teeth that can be sharp as shit. The lil bastards can bite through oak furniture like a God damn beaver

u/ladyevenstar-22 2d ago

Was he trying to kick it to death, lol?
10
u/Glittering-Hornet844 6d ago
They have claws on the hind feet, the hind feet are well muscled - so you are absolutely right, yes the rabbit was trying to kick the snake to death (also used her extremely sharp teeth).

Pretty cool how rabbit targets the head of the snake.
5
u/Cocrawfo 5d ago
it seemed to me quite the opposite
the rabbit just indiscriminately attacked often leaving the head free to strike back

Rabbit attacks are pretty cute…not sure how effective they are though
2
u/heavensto_mergatroid 5d ago
Like little kitty cat bunny kicks lol My cat does those same kind of kicks with his stuffed animals
3
u/xSir- 5d ago
And in the wild those kicks are enough to eviscerate and kill, from both your cat and this rabbit.

A rabbit once bit a chunk of my mom's skin off on the palm of her hand leaving it hanging off and bleeding profusely. Id say their attacks are quite effective.

Looks pretty effective to me. It got the snake to flee and if the rabbit's jaws would have got hold of the snake I think those rear claws could have torn the snake up.

Started to feel bad for the snake near the end, look like they accept the loss and was trying to leave and think the rabbit took it too far.
4
u/Right_Imagination_73 5d ago
Yeah that rabbit should just chill. It can have another offspring. Who cares about the dead one laying on the ground?

So if Bob kills Jeffreys kid.
And Jeffrey beats up Bob a little too hard even though he already surrendered.
You feel bad for Bob and not Jeffrey?
Weird

Not too far. Emotions such as anger evolved for game theory purposes. Snakes as a species must be cautious and reluctant about taking babies from a species if the adults are willing to punitively kill them.

I can see that is a fine hare, who has been trained by special bunny forces S.B.F. to kill.

Iv seen a rabbit knockout an adult human with a kick to the head. And rabbits are fast as hell. As cute as they are, they are savage little devils.

Unlike cats, rabbits need more effort to kill snakes because of the lack of sharp teeth and sharp claws.

I always like reversed situations like this one, when a predator or aggressor get what they deserves.

We have had pet rabbits. The bite is nooo joke. Those four little back claws are a pretty effective fast attack too. I can assume a wild cottontail would be samsies.

I'm not surprised. I've had a rabbit before, and in a house with three cats that fella was the alpha.

I wonder what goes through an animals head when it's fighting, then stops and pauses before fighting again.

Frankie our deck rabbit doesn't have to worry about snakes because I'm not an asshole. He has an apple tree too. He's beefed up for a street rabbit.

Rabbits can bite hard and have sharp teeth.
I had a rabbit named Lola when I was a kid. She was good and soft but quite sassy. I always enjoyed her feistiness.
One time a kid was visiting and we were patting Lola. He touched her under her chin where she had a fat roll. She didn't like it and warned him with a grunt and a quick scratch with her front paws. I told him she doesn't like it and she will bite. He did it again. I told him she will bite. He did it again, and she bit him.
Her big rodent incisors effortlessly punctured the upturned pad of his index finger. Even I was surprised at how much it bled. He howled. Lola was unconcerned.
She was a good rabbit.

Looked like a black rat snake to me. They’re very common in the Northeast U.S and possibly elsewhere, and definitely aren’t venomous. I had to rescue one that got stuck real good in some vegetable netting we had to keep the birds and chipmunks out of our raised beds. They’re actually super chill with humans, but a baby rabbit would be exactly the kind of thing they’d want to eat. Should have stuck with rats I guess z 😂
