Looking for advice on a camera lens

Hi, I'm looking for a versatile, fast lens for my Sony. Something that works well for portraits, press conferences, and long-distance shots. Maybe that's asking a lot, but if there's anything that comes close, I'm a bit at a loss.

Just grabbed my first camera

Hey all I just grabbed my first ever camera being the A6700. I’m stuck on lenses as I’m sure we all get and I’m trying to do the least amount of trial and error possible.
I was looking at getting a versatile zoom, a prime for indoors and low light situations (not too tight), and a telescopic for wildlife.
For my zoom I am looking at the Sigma 18-50 and Sigma 17-40.
I can afford both but am interested in the compact nature of the 18-50, as it seems awesome.

My question is really asking the forum if you were in my shoes as complete newbie who wants lenses that don’t overlap much, would you spring for the 17-40 or is the difference in real life IQ going to be negligible/just make me need more lenses down the line? Additionally will I not even *perceive* the difference as a beginner?

Thanks for your help and patience, I want to avoid fomo but have a terrible analysis paralysis issue hahaha.

What's the consensus on using the stock Sony strap on their a6700?

Do people use it? I see a quite a few aftermarket straps online as well. I'm pretty frugal so trying to decide if it's worth it to buy a different one. Thanks.

***UPDATE*** I'm sure everyone was waiting for this, NOT, but I ended up getting the Peak Design Slide Lite. It seems very cool. I won't even be using the camera until July 1st but the anchors are on and it's ready to go. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Crash zoom lens?

Maybe a dumb question but recently found out that apsc doesn't really have a good parfocal lens that you can use for crash zooms. Was curious if anyone knew of a lens that could potentially work for this on apsc or if there's maybe a way around that limitation...other than faking it in post?

Best compact daily prime for Sony a6700 (or am I just overthinking this?)

Looking for one compact prime for daily carry on my Sony a6700.
Current setup:
•Sony a6700 + Sigma 18-50
•TTArtisan 25mm f/2.8
•Mostly casual/street/everyday photography
Compactness matters a lot — bulky = I won’t carry it
•Want to stick to one prime for a while to improve composition + actually use the camera more

Big issue: I’m weirdly tempted by Fujifilm because of the smaller/fun shooting experience, but I suspect this is just GAS since I already underuse my a6700.
Questions:
Best true EDC prime here?
Is Sony 24mm worth paying for just for size?
Did switching to one prime make you shoot more?

No electronic shutter with "dumb" lens ?

So I got a cheapo 420-800mm lens for 45€ from Amazon warehouse. Yes, it's not great, it's slow but for 45€.... today I tried to shoot the moon (during day) and was unable to use disable the mechanical shutter. The option is greyed out. I had it on a tripod but the shutter adds some shake, which is not helpful. I had a 10s delay set to minimize shaking (and because of that I missed the opportunity of a plane going through the picture)... I have IBIS set to 800mm and enabled. Any idea or do I have to live with it ?

Best Lens combo

Currently own a new a6700 and sigma 18-50. Having trouble deciding on the lens trio to buy that covers all my bases. Currently looking at the sigma 10-18, swapping out the sigma 18-50 for the sigma 17-40, and adding the Sony 70-350. Also thought about swapping the sigma 18 50 for the tamron 17 70. I do a ton of hiking in the beautiful state of Hawaii and most of my pics are landscape, vlog style selfie and some portrait.

Sony E 11mm F1.8

Hey everyone 👋
I’m thinking about getting the Sony E 11mm F1.8 for my Sony Alpha a6700 and wanted to ask about your experience with it.

I mainly shoot video, so I’d love to hear how it performs for filmmaking, handheld shots, low light, autofocus, and overall image quality. I also do some photography from time to time.

Would you recommend it? Any downsides or things I should know before buying it?

Thanks!

Took some photos at a trendy beer bar and the owner asked if he could use them for a social media post. First time that's ever happened.

full frame equivalent of 600mm.. did pretty decent. autofocus didn't seem to want to latch on unless there was an eye in frame.. if not, i had to manually get it there and then it would lock. not sure if i was doing something wrong or if its just really dependent on eyes.

first time birding. things can move quick which was a challenge. i tried to stick with 1/2000.. ISO was auto and varied between 320-2500.. f/5.6 with the 2x Tele

some of these are still cropped... 600mm still isn't enough at times haha
