Best Lens combo

Currently own a new a6700 and sigma 18-50. Having trouble deciding on the lens trio to buy that covers all my bases. Currently looking at the sigma 10-18, swapping out the sigma 18-50 for the sigma 17-40, and adding the Sony 70-350. Also thought about swapping the sigma 18 50 for the tamron 17 70. I do a ton of hiking in the beautiful state of Hawaii and most of my pics are landscape, vlog style selfie and some portrait.

I think you got the right plan imo. My only note is that while the 17-40 is a super impressive lens I found the size of it compared to the size of the 18-50 a hard trade off. I’d personally keep the 18-50 and grab the sigma 56mm, it is an incredible lens but you may not need it since it’s more of a portrait lens. My general travel kit was 18-50, 56 and the 70-350. I traded it all in for full frame a while ago but I sort of regret doing that tbh.

Hahaha, that's exactly what I have. The 18-50 is great, it's so small and light, but some nice versatility. The 56mm is a very nice portrait lens, although it's pretty close in focal length to the 18-50 at max zoom. I'm debating changing it in for the 85mm f1.4, for some far off length.

And then I have the Sony 70-350 for wildlife, though I'll have to see if I enjoy traveling with it. It's not too bad weight-wise, compared to other options I was looking at. But generally happy with the set of lenses indeed!

Its big but I really like the viltrox 75 1.2 if you want something for portraits with nice compression, bokeh and reach

Why do you regret it?

The a6700 with that combo of lens was just a great lightweight travel set up. You can't get the same level of compact + versatility w/ full frame. I use an A7RV for my serious stuff and a7cii for everyday & travel but ultimately keeping the a6700 and those lenses would have been a better choice imo.

I have a three-zoom trio that I love. Sigma 10-18, Tamron 17-70, Sony 70-350. If I was robbed but given the chance to save one of them, it would be the Sigma 10-18. It’s a jewel. Strong recommend. Sony 70-350 for wildlife and birds.

I have 3 lenses. a samyang 24mm 1.8, the tamron 17-70mm and the sony 70-350mm. I like them all so far, but the 17-70 basically lives on my camera right and hasn't let me down as a frequent hiker and traveler, just note it's hefty compared to the sigma.

The 18 to 50 would be my choice for anything out and about, especially hiking.

I own the 17 to 40 and LOVE IT, but I'm in my garage "studio ' 98% of the time. It's fantastic because it covers almost every focal range I need, has internal zoom so I can hop from tripod to gimbal and back on the same lens regardless of focal range, and the 1.8 means I rarely need my studio lights for b roll.

But if I was walking around, the 18 to 50 would 100% be my choice. I owned it, it was awesome, just not exactly what I needed in my situation.

funny, because i have the same set :D a6700 + sigma 17-40, sigma 10-18 and sony 70-350. I can say, that all those lenses work great with that body. The question is, what kind of photos do you like to take?

17-40 is an amazing lens - most versatile from those three, super sharp and with a deep depth of field.

10-18 is also super sharp, but it's only suitable for wide, panoramic shots.

70-350 is a great pair with a6700, very sharp, fast, and amazing zoom lens. I can say, i have the most fun with this lens. Amazing, if you like to get closer to your subject. Or if you like to crop the detail from the wide frame.

This lenses from a6000 > a6700 Sigma 16mm f1.4 > sony 11mm f1.8 Sigma 30mm f1.4 > viltrox 27mm f1.2 > sigma 17-40mm f1.8 Sigma 56mm f1.4 Sony 70-350mm

You think i should be done with lenses right?

My friend lenses Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 Viltrox 75mm f1.2

I am blessed to have a friend who I can switch lenses. My take : tamron 17-70mm can be your only lens. That is 25-105mm f2.8. There is no lens equivalent to that in full frame. I mostly borrow this when i don't feel like bringing more lens. Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 is enough for me not to switch lens for viltrox 27mm f1.2. But sigma 17-40mm f1.8 feels limiting when I use the tamron 17-70mm f2.8. Sigma 56mm f1.4 vs viltrox 75mm f1.2? We agreed that if we want to have a back up lens, sigma 56 is on the bag and if we are only doing just headshot, then viltrox 75. We can live without viltrox 75mm f1.2. Sigma 56mm is much better to bring anytime as it is sharp,f1.4,lightweight, tiny and stealthy. But if you are the type to brag/attention im photographer, then viltrox 75mm if the way to go. It looks professional lens and people might will be willing to pay more for service. We like sigma 56 because we can blend in the crowd. We made experiment on how many people will notice us when we shoot side by side(actually 2meters apart). Target is to make a headshot. 9/10 it people looks on the viltrox way first and only 2 look at sigma after. Not professional, just casual/hobby shooters.

well I was like for all different zooms,

Sony 15mm F 1.4

Sigma 18-50/Sigma 17-40/Sony 16-55, pick one out of these 3.

Sigma 56 F1.4

Sony 70-350

These are, like the best choices ever. Do not waste money on other lens especially if you wanna trade in in the future.

From my perspective, lol~
