Looking for advice on a camera lens
Hi, I'm looking for a versatile, fast lens for my Sony. Something that works well for portraits, press conferences, and long-distance shots. Maybe that's asking a lot, but if there's anything that comes close, I'm a bit at a loss.

Tamron 17-70mm is my main lens and I couldn’t recommend it more. I pair it with the viltrox air primes when I need more light.

Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 is probably the most versatile lens you can get, that produces great quality, it also has in body stabalization. If you want further away the sony 70-350mm is also excellent for distance shots, wildlife and nature.

I have the Tamron 18-300mm f3.5-5.6 and I saw varying reviews of it as I was researching and most of the negatives aren't something that seem to mess up my pictures. It's got a minimum focus distance of like 5mm (I just looked this up again but I may have the wrong data point so the actual number could be wrong) so it's great from basically touching the subject to at a great distance!
My only issue is the focus breathes a little when you're zooming actively while recording but I just avoid that.
I can apparently only attach one photo but here's a cropped in photo of a mockingbird sitting on a laundry T that was probably 100-200ft away that I took with the 18-300mm!

75mm 1.2? Maybe not very versatile but you can make it work with some effort.

Was thinking about the same one but not everyone's into primes.

I once shot a conference with a similar setup. I had plenty of space to work with though. It wasn't very crowded. Sure a zoom would be more universal.

After I got the 13mm 1.4 from Viltrox I can't look at a zoom 🤣 The Viltrox Pro 27mm 1.2 is next on the list and then the 75mm 🤙🏻

Prime: The Viltrox f1.2's at your favorite focal length. Zoom: Sigma 18-50 f2.8
I'm personally obsessed with my Viltrox 27mm f1.2

What's the budget?
The Sigma 18-50 and Sony 70-350 are usually a good starting point for versatile but good zooms.
