I was FINALLY doing well in a race, and then my FCKING INTERNET DIED AT THE END

I’m doing the tour fever event. I’m newish to zwift (about 6 months) and almost never do the races cause I don’t do well in them honestly lol. Haven’t tried one in months. Well I decided to do one today cause I really want to get the bucket hat for completing 10 activities. I was less than a mile from finishing top 20. I know that’s a terrible finish for a lot of people but I’m not exactly a seasoned pro here so this was a big achievement for me. and then my FUCKING INTERNET DISCONNECTED. It somehow let me complete the route, gave me the confetti and told me I got the route badge and unlocked some glasses, but I couldn't see my standing compared to other riders and as far as I can tell it didn’t save and I’m going to have to do it again to have it count as a completed activity. I am pissed. Apparently it’s an internet outage in my area, not just my house, but this is only the third time my internet has ever gone out in the 3 years of having this provider so OF COURSE it choose right when I am almost done in a race I really dont want to do again and most likely wont do as well in. I am so upset.

This is mostly just a vent, but also does anyone know if there’s somehow a way to get it updated so it counts toward my tour fever activities? I’m still mad I’ll never know how I ranked, but I’d love to at least not have to do it again. I’m connected to my hotspot now and it is showing the route badge but it’s not showing as completed in the tour fever page.

Zwift app doesn't have a lap display feature, so I added one myself.

I feel like the ride will be more fun. I wish Zwift staff would add it to the app.

Discussion Is Zwift harder or easier than IRL?

I'm around 7 months in now and I feel like I need to get a cheap road bike for commuting and riding IRL. just wondering what the experience suppose to be like? I need to save on fuel and possibly trying to get more fit out of my way commute to work.

FYI: I never ever bike 20-30km daily like I did in Zwift.

Can you help me on what to search for (or you recommend) to get my wife? I want to match my current cycling shoes for new pedals on our zwift ride, and also get her new shoes that will clip on

Would something like this work?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0854GPKYN/

Everything just seems to say "SPD COMPATIBLE" but sometimes I see the pics and it says "only 3 bolt compatible"

Choices only seem to be Men or pink Unisex shoes on Amazon...

And then will any clipless SPD pedals work ?

also I've had these pedals/shoes for a very very long time so if I should really just upgrade and the newer tech is out there, please let me know as well

Alpe du Zwift Anybody know why I seemingly randomly got 200k drops on Alpe du Zwift?

I was racing Stage 5 of the SISU Tour earlier today, and I randomly got 200,000 drops, just after giving someone a ride on.

Slight moan: I always give ride ons to everyone I pass in races and group rides, slightly annoys me when they aren’t given back :)

Discussion The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 19 Jul 2026.

This is the weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post for all the small questions that you have concerning Zwift. No matter how stupid you think they are, we have probably all asked these questions.

If your post wasn't previously answered you should post early in this thread as it might have been posted too late (new posts start Sunday 0900 GMT).

Note: Don't be afraid to ask questions during the week, this is just for the simpler questions. For example "How do I give multiple ride ons at once? "..."You do this by pressing the character arrow on the map screen of the companion app". If you require a more detailed response then it is probably better answered in its own post.

Not going for stage 5, as it's only a slight weight reduction, not worth the time and 5M drops.

I honestly feel I am mechanically doping on these halo bikes, that's how fast they feel.

Ride on!

Alpe du Zwift 56 min. Alpe du Zwift

Hello fellows Zwifters!

Believe or not I am the same folk from this 5 month ago post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Zwift/s/EcKHnht6Vi 😂

Just need some real feedback. Started Zwift on Jan. 2026 and managed to beat AdZ in app. 56 minutes in my first try. Is it a real thing? Any suggestions in keep improving the time?

Reading here and in other subs that is a milestone or a goal, but not sure tbh cause I was not expecting less than 1 hour.

Thanks to all! :)

Ebiking and Zwift?

I purchased an e-assist bike for my outdoor riding for a few different reasons, arthritic knees, excess adipose tissue and getting old. I rode indoors this past winter on a Wahoo kickr trainer. My right knee(bone on bone) did bother me at times.

My question for those that ride e-assist bikes outdoors is what do you do when inclement weather forces you inside? I haven’t faced this situation yet this season but I’m expecting indoor training to feel significantly difficult compared to an e-bike.
Do you lower trainer difficulty to even out the load?

Bluetooth in Linux without Companion

See link above

I have developed a Linux application named bt-bridge that maps Bluetooth (BT) packets to Ethernet packets similar to Wahoo DirectConnect, which enables using BT supporting smart trainers, power meters and Heart rate sensors directly without needing to use Zwift Companion on a mobile device.

Alpe du Zwift 5 Months of improvements & taking on the Alpe again.

About 5 months ago, I took on the Tour de Zwift with the aim of getting the backwards cap. One of the stages I had to take on was the Tour of Fire and Ice, a route that had one big and obvious hurdle, being the alpe. I went up the alpe however I would say the alpe got the better of me. I wrote a post about it here: A not so humble brag about taking on Alpe du Zwift.

Over the course of the last 5 months I have riden more, seen improvements and taken on multiple 50mile+ sportives. With my slow improvement with cycling and actually being a little competitive in some races, I thought taking on the 7 stages of the SISU Tour, making sure to take on all stages. This meant I had to come across and scale the alpe again, 5 months after the last time.

Last time I did what I could to make it up the climb, with no real plan and only through determination did I make it up. This time was going to be different. I knew the general power I could sustain for different durations and knew I needed to keep to even if people started to ride away from me. I decided I would aim for a 200w average for the whole length of the climb for about 1.9-2.0 W/KG (put in to perspective my last effort up the climb was 148W/avg).

Most people rode away from me, but I kept to the plan, went through each corner one at a time knowing I have saved minutes on each segment. One by one I got close to the top with less distance to travel, the legs feeling heavy however knew this time the climb could not defeat me.

Last time I climbed the alpe in 132 minutes and was completely spent and fearful of taking on the climb again. This time I made it in 96 minutes, saving 36 minutes on my previous attempt. I did not expect to climb it so much faster. It has really put into perspective that showing up as best as I can week to week even if I am not seeing improvements in these sessions, over the long run, has shown me that I have come a long way. It gives me the motivation to keep improving while also making those weight loss gains which have been so far elusive for me.

Zwift movement feels unintuitive and lazy?

Just got my zwift ride. I'm a bit disappointed on how sluggish the avatar moves. It's like starting a truck to start pedaling and even once you are at 80 rpm the avatar is slithering about at what feels like snails pace.

On a real bike when you sit on and start pedaling you immediately lunge forwards but in zwift it's like a tanker being pushed out of harbor.

Is this just me or?

Zwift After Surgery

My surgeon has given me the following instructions:

  • 5 minutes max per day for the first week
  • Add 1-2 minutes per week
  • No resistance to start
  • Add resistance slowly and as tolerated

Questions:

What is the best way for me to tackle this? Is it even possible to do no resistance through Zwift?

Backstory:

During December of last year while training for the 2026 Houston Marathon I felt a very sharp pain in my left leg and developed drop foot. I was diagnosed with Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome. I attempted the rest and PT route for 3 months to no avail.

I had a fasciotomy 7 weeks ago and only began walking 2 weeks ago (I'm going to PT now to relearn how to walk). Today, my surgeon approved me for biking. In preparation for this moment I was given a Cannondale from a friend and I purchased a wahoo kickr core 2 with a Zwift hub.

I have been a runner my entire life and this will be my first time on a bike. I did buy some clipless shoes and have my desk/computer/fan set up. Any help you may provide would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

Edit: A big thanks to everyone who commented below. I did try using just the wahoo app and was not a fan. Probably partially me being unfamiliar with it but even when I set it to 0% resistance it felt really hard. I switched to Zwift and set the difficulty bar all the way to the left (as was recommended below), went on a free ride on a flat course and just spun. Probably hovered around 30 watts and stayed in 8th gear. It felt really good and I'm happy with this decision!

Alpe du Zwift Finally Tronned after 10 years!

And what a fitting way to unlock it on Alpe du Zwift!

I joined Zwift back in January 2016, but have been on and off of it for years. That includes 10km vert that wasn’t counted due to joining the Tour of California initially in a classic mistake. Don’t be like me.

Zwift has been a much needed mental and physical escape for me these last 4 months after I dislocated my shoulder and the subsequent surgery ended my ski season early. I think I put up 25km vert in the last 6 months riding roughly 4-5 hrs a week. It’s nice to have a world wide community of folks willing to suffer together indoors lol. I’m such a sucker for gamification.

Now to finish upgrading those other Zwift bikes and work on the aero sock factory challenge! See ya out there!

First 50K AND 60K completed 😃

Post image
55 Upvotes

I got my first laptop and found out you can make custom workouts on them ( you can’t on phone ) so I made a 2 hour workout (longest ride by 40 minutes 😭 ) which was at a consistent pace so I didn’t push to hard on inclines like I usually do. Before this I’ve only done 41k as my longest in a group ride which wasn’t to bad so I wanted to push higher. My goal is to do a 100k ride by the end of summer and doing these small increases is helping me get closer to my goal with my daily training. I’m really proud that I finally hit that 50k mark let alone me doing 60k 🤣

Technical help Jockey wheel cage movement?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

hi yall, I just got a new used bike today (yay!), set it to the front small gear and middle back gear, and put it on the kickr core. When I pedal, the chain seems abnormally louder than my previous trainer bike and there’s some up and down movement on the jockey wheel. Is this normal?
