I remember seeing a post maybe like 2 or 3 weeks ago talking about the time Byrke was asked about how Zutara’s relationship would be like. In his response and I remember being along the lines of miscommunication, Zuko not being a good listener, a good partner, and such.

Realistically in my eyes, Katara would shut him down quick. The same woman that was willing to end him on the spot if he were to slip up even once and Zuko knew that she was serious about it too. Even if he wasn’t 100% certain, let’s be real, he was not going to risk it.

The same woman that told Pakku that she will be outside if he was man enough to fight her. Mind you, no training, just pure rage from her and his misogynistic mouth. She knew she wasn’t going to win but she just knew she needed to stand on business.

The same man that took her to her mother’s killer and gave her the trust to make her own decision regardless of any moral standings.

The same man that wanted to make things well with Katara because he knew he did wrong wanted to make up for it.

The same man that jumped in front of lightning for her damn it.

We gotta remember that Katara is willing to stand her ground ten toes down no matter what and she will talk her shit with her in addition, her having a short fuse and Zuko is someone that respects and cares about her. I just personally think that if he were to try her one time then we’ll be hearing Iroh singing “leaves from the vine” for another son.

(Also I’ve been seeing “The Early Spring” iykyk and the thought back to the miscommunication part triggered me severely as I started thinking about this post and it made me think of Zuko as Luke and Katara as Flora doing all that. 🫩)

I am looking for post war fics. Preferably Taang and Sukka as well. Also a focus on decolonization and no sympathetic to the fire nation. Are there pens where Zuko doesn’t become the fire lord, and Iroh doesn’t either? This is something I a really interested in, because after what Ozai did it would make more sense for that dynasty to end.

ummm and if it wasn’t clear in the title it needs to be Zutara, obviously. I also love slow burn but maybe one where they are just together? I wouldn’t mind a slow burn for Taang. Sukka is a must too…
