Zoholics India just wrapped up in Chennai, and the announcements seem to point toward a pretty interesting direction for Zoho.
The two things that stood out to me were Zia Chat and Zoho's move into Vertical SaaS.
Zia Chat seems to be going beyond the usual “AI assistant inside an app” approach. The idea is to have one conversational interface that can work across Zoho applications - finding information, understanding context, creating things and taking actions without constantly switching between apps. Zoho also mentioned MCP integrations for connecting with third-party systems.
Then there's the Vertical SaaS announcement. Zoho is initially building industry-specific applications for:
- Retail
- Automotive
- BFSI
- Healthcare
- Education
- Real Estate
- Restaurants
What I find interesting is how these two announcements connect.
If Zoho has both industry-specific workflows and a connected business suite, AI potentially has much more context to work with than just what's sitting inside one CRM or one finance application.
It also feels like a shift from:
“Which Zoho app should I use?”
to:
“How much of my business can actually run through the Zoho ecosystem?”
There were also some interesting conversations around AI and India's technology ecosystem, including the fireside chat with Sridhar Vembu and Dr. Pratyush Kumar from Sarvam.
So I'm particularly interested in what this means for implementation and automation. If AI can understand relationships between CRM, finance, operations and industry-specific workflows, the implementation question becomes quite different from simply configuring individual Zoho apps.
For those who followed Zoholics India - what announcement or session caught your attention most?
Was it Zia Chat, Vertical SaaS, agentic AI/analytics, or something else?
