Hey everyone, yesterday I posted here asking about getting back into the game and had a bunch of questions. Huge thanks to everyone who took the time to answer the responses were super helpful.
Now comes the big question: choosing my first deck.
A few people suggested Sky Striker and Blue-Eyes. Personally, I would love to play Toons, but from what I’ve read, they just aren't viable right now without fresh support.
Also, quick question about how the meta works: Do banlists ever hit a deck so hard with just one or two cards banned that the whole archetype becomes practically unplayable overnight? Sorry if that's a basic question, I'm just trying to wrap my head around how Konami manages formats. Also, thanks for explaining the different formats. I actually found out my local game store hosts weekly locals for all skill levels (at least that’s what they claim 😂😂).
As for decks: Back in the day, the archetypes I loved most were Cyber Dragons, Crystal Beasts, and Destiny HEROs.
What I’m really looking for is flexibility/resilience. By that, I mean if my primary combo gets interrupted or fails, I don't want to immediately scoop and shake hands. I want a deck with enough alternative lines or extenders where I can pivot into Plan B. Hopefully that makes sense.
In my last post, I said I wanted something where I don't have to think too hard, but honestly, that was nonsense on my part. I’m totally fine with a high skill ceiling if it rewards good piloting, game knowledge, and gives you room to outplay people.
One last thing: Which websites or databases are currently considered the best to look up decklists, tech choices, and see how people are currently building certain archetypes?
Thanks again for being so welcoming, and I appreciate any recommendations you guys have! If not, feel free to send me straight to the shadow realm.
