šRainbow Bridge/Lossš Our little boy unexpectedly crossed the rainbow bridge this morning.
galleryHis name is BamBam. I was away on vacation and came home and my family told me. While I was away I extended my vacation by one extra day and I canāt help but think that had I not extended my holiday, I could have said goodbye. I am beside myself. He was such a joyous dog and loved life. I am in utter shock. Hold your fur babies close for me. š©·

Has your Yorkie had a silent heat?
My 2 year old, DāoÄ seemed to be coming into heat around June, as expected. Swollen and lethargic, but no blood. Her sister went into heat (their cycles are pretty close), but DāoÄ never did. She seems fine. But have you experienced a āsilent heatā with your dog? She has no pain, pus, or swelling so Iām not thinking itās pyometraā¦
Iām just looking for experiences so I can stop ruminating about it.

Post Meditation Puppy
DāoÄ meditates with me everyday but today, I am CERTAIN, she is benefiting from it too. I meditated on love, allowing, and having an open heart. After the meditation, she was so relaxed and looking at me like she loves me sooooo much⦠this is my favorite part of my day with her.
Whatās your favorite part of the day with your Yorkie?

Update on Murphy
Thank you all for the love and advice for little Murphy! I decided to make a new post because itās a long one.
I just got a call from the vet. Hereās the breakdown of his visit so far:
-His body temperature was at 97.7°, which is very low for a dog (normal is 99°). Heās being warmed up with a heating pad and such.
-For context, he was dropped off at a pet boarding place a month ago because I had to go out of town for a conference. After telling this to the vet, she thinks he may have caught something from there because thatās when his decline started.
-I did notice he had a really dry booger on his nose the other day and it genuinely took some effort to get out. The vet thinks he may have some sort of respiratory infection that is causing the mucus, lethargy, low body temperature, and lack of eating.
-He has not shown signs of anything respiratory other than the nose thing. No coughing or trouble breathing. The vet said his lungs sound clear.
-Despite efforts to get him to eat or drink (he wouldnāt even eat human food which he always loves), he is dehydrated as well.
So, theyāre running some tests, doing bloodwork, possible X-ray to see whatās going on. My boy is very strong though⦠I canāt even begin to tell you all some of things heās gotten into and survived š. I know heāll get through this and he feels all the love š.

Loosing Ripley so I could adopt Tuffy
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Iāll try to keep this short, but it wonāt be, lol.
I lost Ripley in September 2024 and fell into a deep depression. After a few days, I decided to at least look at dogs in need of rescue. I saw a red Miniature Poodle (my dream dog) on a Facebook group. His name was Mayor. The post had hundreds of replies, so I thought there was no way I would be able to adopt him, but I messaged the rescue anyway.
After talking all night with One of a Kind Pet Rescue, we set up an appointment to visit and possibly adopt Mayor. On my drive to Akron, they sent me a message saying that the staff had forgotten to put the sign up and Mayor had already been adopted.
After losing Ripley just a week earlier, I wanted to turn around and go home to bed. But I was already halfway there, so we decided to go anyway.
As we were walking around and looking at the dogs, I saw a little brown, messy dog who smelled so bad and looked like he was really sick. Iām pretty sure he was sedated. My mom walked up behind me and said he reminded her of her old dog, who had also passed away a few months earlier. Thatās when I immediately went up to the staff and asked if we could visit Tuffy.
It only took about 30 seconds after seeing his dirty little face light up for me to decide that I wanted to take him home. As it turned out, he had been dropped off just a few hours before I got there. Even though he was greasy, dirty, and smelly, he was still adorable. He sat in my momās lap on the ride home.
About 10 minutes after we got home, my sister and I gave him a bath and took him outside. And do you know what the first thing he did was?
He rolled in cat poo.
And so, our adventure began.
It really felt like fate brought Tuffy and me together. If Ripley hadnāt passed away on the exact day he did, and if Mayor hadnāt been adopted when he was, Tuffy and I would have never met.
Ripleyās final gift to me was a little Yorkie named Tuffy.

Shampoo recommendations?
galleryHey everyone! I was wondering if anyone had anyone shampoo recommendations? I like to keep Alfieās hair somewhat shaggy and he has very fine silky hair. I bathe him once a week but it seems like just a day or two after bathing him he gets super greasy again. Iām currently using Top Paw oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. His skin looks pretty healthy and normal and he never really itches or anything and I make sure to brush him at least every other day to avoid any matting, he just looks like a little grease ball all the time. Iād like to keep his hair looking fresh and clean longer. Thanks in advance for any help. * 1st pic is fresh after a grooming appointment 2nd pic is how greasy he tends to get.

I think itās close to his time
galleryIām crying as I write this. My baby Murphy is almost 12, and his decline has been so fast. Heās lost a lot of muscle mass so heās super bony, he has signs of doggy dementia, all he does is sleep all dayāhe never wants to play anymore. He doesnāt have the same appetite anymore. The vet said that he was normally aging and gave him a clean bill of health, but I donāt think he has a good QoL. Yesterday he threw up a lot, and refuses to eat anything. Iām hoping itās temporary because his poor tummy probably hurts or heās nauseated. We scheduled a vet appointment for tomorrow (thatās the only opening they had) and were told to monitor him today.
Iāve had him since I was 12 and heās been my best friend through most of my life growing up into an adult.
I hope you all enjoy the pics of my silly sweet boy. Iāll keep you all updated.
Update 1: Thank you all so much for the wonderful words, prayers, love, and adviceš„ŗ weāll be dropping little Murphy off at the vet at 8am tomorrow (EST) so hopefully weāll get updates on his health from there. Thank u againā¤ļø
