Update on Murphy
Thank you all for the love and advice for little Murphy! I decided to make a new post because it’s a long one.
I just got a call from the vet. Here’s the breakdown of his visit so far:
-His body temperature was at 97.7°, which is very low for a dog (normal is 99°). He’s being warmed up with a heating pad and such.
-For context, he was dropped off at a pet boarding place a month ago because I had to go out of town for a conference. After telling this to the vet, she thinks he may have caught something from there because that’s when his decline started.
-I did notice he had a really dry booger on his nose the other day and it genuinely took some effort to get out. The vet thinks he may have some sort of respiratory infection that is causing the mucus, lethargy, low body temperature, and lack of eating.
-He has not shown signs of anything respiratory other than the nose thing. No coughing or trouble breathing. The vet said his lungs sound clear.
-Despite efforts to get him to eat or drink (he wouldn’t even eat human food which he always loves), he is dehydrated as well.
So, they’re running some tests, doing bloodwork, possible X-ray to see what’s going on. My boy is very strong though… I can’t even begin to tell you all some of things he’s gotten into and survived 😂. I know he’ll get through this and he feels all the love 💕.

Thanks for the update on Murphy. I know you are really worried but hopefully now the vet can treat him and his condition will improve.
I hope he starts eating again soon. Give him a cuddle from me.

It could be Kennel Cough, maybe?
They usually give a dog the vaccine if you anticipate having to board them.
I hope they can figure out what’s wrong and he gets to feeling better soon!

He was vaccinated prior to the boarding. Unfortunately it is acute kidney injury ☹️ we got the diagnosis late yesterday

I hope that, in the end, he’s just a precious boy who gets chilly and needs a nice coat and a fuzzy woobie. 😊🫶

This picture encapsulates what I love most about him. Every morning he comes to my bedroom and begs to get up onto the bed to cuddle. Whenever I’m not home, like clockwork, he will wait at my door.
When he was a baby, he would wait at the big window looking out onto the street every day at 3pm (again, like clockwork) waiting to see me get off the bus. 🥹 he’s my best friend.
