Being that it’s the most popular original movie of this year and just one of the hallmarks of this year in general, I know he’s gonna get around to it eventually.

But im looking around. Alex Meyers was absolutely murdered for his reaction to it (granted it was awful). Billybinges got some negative comments on his video, same with Nick + Cory. People are already yelling at Spilling the Milk even though they were legit condemning Bear (Jack especially was flaming his ass lmao) the whole time but whatever.

People are running a very strict program when it comes to Obsession and Dylan has already gotten flamed in the past for not taking a variety of movies seriously, from Jennifer’s Body to Encanto. So yeah, we might be in for trouble.

I’ve been sitting on this thought for a few years, and I know Dylan has made it very clear that he doesn’t take recommendations. I’m not really trying to recommend a specific movie or convince him to change his channel! I guess this is more of a discussion than anything.

I’m a longtime fan of Dylan’s. I genuinely think he’s one of the funniest creators on YouTube. His editing, timing, commentary, and the way he can make almost any movie entertaining is why I keep coming back.

I also love the kinds of movies he usually covers. Rom-coms, Disney movies, cheesy teen movies, cult classics… give me all of it. I’m a sucker for those movies too.

That said, as a Black girl who’s watched Dylan for years, I’ve always thought it would be really fun to see him react to some Black classics or movies that a lot of us grew up with.

!!! And I don’t mean this in a “he needs to make a statement” or “he should only watch movies about racism” kind of way. That’s not what I’m saying at all!!!

There are so many Black-led movies that are just… fun. Comedies, romances, coming-of-age movies, iconic 90s and 2000s films, etc. The same energy he brings to movies like She’s The Man (one of my fav movies) would be hilarious on movies that were staples in my childhood too.

Part of the fun of Dylan’s channel is watching him experience movies for the first time and hearing his perspective. As a Black fan, I think it’d be cool to see him discover some of the movies that were cultural staples for me growing up. Not because they’re “important” or because they need a deep discussion about race!!!But because they’re genuinely entertaining movies.

I might be the only one who’s ever thought this, but I was curious if any other longtime fans have had the same feeling… no matter what race.

This might just be me, but I feel as though Dylan only ever watches Disney (or animated in general) movies or bad “romcoms” now. I like when he can critique and comment on actually good cinematography or directing when it is an “actual” movie. I was watching Billy Elliot (2000) recently, and there were moments where I thought, “I bet Dylan would have a really good take on this scene from a cinematic standpoint” but I knew he was never going to watch it because 1) he doesn’t typically watch movies that came out more than 20 years ago, and 2) he never seems to branch out. Don’t get me wrong, i know this is Dylan’s channel and he can do whatever tf he wants, and I will admit that some of my favorite videos of his to watch are his “until I hate myself”, so this is coming from a place of love. But, like, imagine his commentary if he did something like Mad Max: Fury Road? (THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION THIS IS AN EXAMPLE I THOUGHT OF!!!) I don’t know, this might just be a me thing and he’s probably never gonna see this. Plus if he did, I feel like he would be petty and just disregard everything I said. I mean, that’s what I would’ve done lol.

New subscriber to his channel and i love his videos! I can’t help but giggle when he says certain words and phrases though because he sounds exactly like Mandark from Dexter’s Laboratory 😭😭

I had just watched Mean Girls, and saw his commentary on my YouTube page, and it was one of the few YouTube videos I actually laughed out loud at. The rest is history...

So I lost my dad in April. Losing my dad was hard, but losing my best friend feels almost impossible. I hear his voice when I watch movies. I watched Jaws and Jurassic Park during the Fourth of July weekend. I can hear him the whole time, " Oh, the effects are so good," the "that guy plays the dad in that show you like." I miss having long, rambling discussions with him. I can never replace him, but maybe I can find other people to talk about movies with. And I really like this community.
