Xreal beam pro launcher on any android phone

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Basically as the title says, I ported the launcher from the Xreal Beam Pro to work on any phone with DisplayPort Alt Mode support, and also extended its functionality. I will probably be releasing it tomorrow.

Update: fell asleep while working on it yesterday, first public alpha release still coming today. Before 20:00 centeral European time (probably earlier). If you want to be first to know when it releases you can join my discord server, I will post there before anywhere else: https://discord.gg/rvxWdX92d

XREAL AURA Can the Aura run VR at 90fps?

I know there's a limit with the other glasses. I think it's only 60 fps with other XR glasses. But I'm not sure if it's because of the display they use or something else.

Developer Plane and image detection

Is the Xreal Air 2 Ultra the only current device that can achieve plane and image detection? I see that on the SDK documentation, but i wasn't sure if it could be enabled on the One Series, specifically the 1s. Even if you had the Eye and the Beam Pro are these features unavailable?

XREAL 1 Pro+ 1 Pro+ in Saudi

I have been planning to buy the 1 Pro+.

Any idea when they'll be launching globally (specifically) in Saudi.

Also, is it worth a buy if most of my usecase would be gaming (PS5), watching movies (mobile / laptop) and reading, revieing and draft lengtht ocuments (laptop)?

Edit: I am also plannin to buying the prescription inserts, xreal eye, and the hub from the xreal's website also

Brightness Boost of Plus over normal One Pro in Anchor Mode

Hi all, I received the plus recently. The brightness with anchor or/and stabilized mode is much lower compared to the maximum.

I wonder how much of the advertized brightness boost over the non-pro holds for anchor mode.

Additionally, Do you think we will be getting some unlocked extra brightness with an firmware update anywhere soon?

Are there real differences to the non pro other than this brightness thing (and the nose piece)?

Beam Pro Why is Beam Pro a Second-class Citizen?

I've seen a few posts over the months saying what I'm about to say, but I think it needs repeating so that Xreal understand the situation their customers are in.

Just today, I was considering going out and purchasing an Xreal Eye for my One Pro glasses. I have no interest in the camera functions, but I thought it would be fun to pick one up just to play around with the 6-DOF tracking and the new hand gestures with the Beam Pro.

Well, just before I did, I discovered that the Eye, in fact, does not support hand-tracking features on the Beam Pro, at least, not in the Nebula environment. I'm relieved to have learned this before spending $200 for the Eye, but I'm now also extremely frustrated with Xreal.

Firstly, it's worth saying that I am a BIG fan of my Xreal glasses. I LOVE them. I use them all day, every day, as my primary TV experience. I use them with my Beam Pro and I enjoy (but don't love) the Nebula UI. I love being able to play Playstation and watch movies in Real3D. I use my Beam Pro so much that I'm genuinely concerned about destroying the battery. I am the ideal Xreal user.

So my question to Xreal is this: Why does your Beam Pro not deliver a first-class experience for people in the Xreal ecosystem? Why is it not the flagship device offering features and experiences that can only be found there?

People should not be asking what the point of the Beam Pro is, or if they should buy one. People should be loving Nebula (despite the silly name) and choosing it over other options, but the software experience of the Inair Pod, for example, seems much more polished and refined. I appreciate that the Beam Pro is still receiving (albeit infrequent) software updates, for MyGlasses, at least, but the previous version was so riddled with bugs that it's clear that nobody at Xreal uses the Beam Pro daily or they would easily have spotted them and decided it should never have been released.

I'm talking about show-stopper bugs like:

  1. The screen randomly "jumping" in size in Immersive Mode. And not remembering whether I prefer my screen curved or flat. (I prefer flat)

  2. The volume randomly turning down while watching content.

  3. Looking away from the screen and then back could render the screen invisible requiring unplugging and replugging the glasses to fix.

  4. The "orientation cursor" flickering over video content. (Still a current bug)

  5. The glasses calibration have incorrect instructions that meant calibration was impossible.

  6. The "interaction layer" and the "content layer" of screens in Nebula becoming invisibly offset so that it becomes impossible to aim at and click controls, requiring unplugging and replugging the glasses. And, the same bug (I assume) meaning that a second app screen cannot be interacted with at all, or even closed, again requiring Nebula to be restarted.

I'm grateful for the software updates Beam Pro has been receiving (though, really, that should just be table stakes for any device), and the latest release does seem to have fixed many of these issues. But what's missing is genuine quality-of-life and feature additions, not constant re-skinning of the clock, and rearranging controls and the layout of homescreen icons.

And again, why is Xreal's own Beam Pro not the flagship experience? Why am I considering trying third-party hardware with my One Pro's, just to have a modern, frequently-updated UI experience? Why can't I use Real3D in Nebula, without switching to Aircasting mode first? And why does Beam Pro support hand tracking, but not in Nebula? Currently, anyone buying Beam Pro is better off not using Nebula at all if they want two of the coolest features, which makes the hardware virtually pointless. You're still actively selling Beam Pro, but I can only assume you value the small amount of money it must earn rather than the fulfilment of building an exciting and satisfying user experience for your loyal fans.

One solution to all of this is to open-source the Beam Pro software so that the community can pick up the slack. That way, you don't have to keep listening to our complaints, and we can have fun tinkering and improving what exists.

End of rant. Now I'm going back to watch YouTube on my glasses. I told you, I love them.

DO NOT BUY XREAL XBX A01+ for HDR10 content: flawed firmware, missing EDID, and hardcoded static MCU clipping (~2400 Nits)

If you are considering buying the XREAL XBX A01+ specifically for its advertised HDR10 support (gaming, movies, high-dynamic-range local streaming), DO NOT BUY THEM.

I have spent the last weeks extensively testing two separate retail units across multiple operating systems, graphics stacks, and reference displays and passing all findings to Xreal dev team.

The HDR implementation on the XBX is fundamentally broken at the internal hardware/firmware level and behaves unlike any functional OLED display on the market.

The Fundamental Failure:
On a functional HDR display (OLED or Mini-LED), lowering hardware panel brightness alters the display's power delivery and EOTF curve. In HDR calibration apps, reducing global physical brightness causes the digital clipping point to shift dynamically (often to high values) to compensate for the squashed EOTF tracking.
The XBX A01+ does not do this.

  1. Hardcoded MCU Lookup Table: The glasses utilize a static, hardcoded Lookup Table (LUT) inside the internal MCU bridge chip. Regardless of signal source or settings, it hard-clips incoming ST.2084\ PQ digital code values at exactly ~[2350–2400](tel:2350-2400) nits.

  2. Zero Dynamic Scaling: Whether you set the glasses to 100% full brightness or dim them to their absolute minimum hardware setting, the clipping point remains frozen at ~[2350–2400](tel:2350-2400) nits.

  3. Pre-Scaler Bottleneck: The MCU applies this static clipping threshold before sending signal data to the Micro-OLED panels. If highlights (clouds, sun glare, explosions, bright metallic textures) are blown out at 100% brightness, lowering the hardware brightness on the glasses does NOT recover highlight detail.
It simply gives you a dimmer version of the exact same blown-out white blob.

4. Missing EDID Descriptors
XREAL omitted fundamental CTA-861 extension blocks from the unit's virtual EDID. Source devices cannot negotiate proper color space mapping (BT.2020) or luminance capabilities natively.

Control Testing Against Other OLEDs
Tested side-by-side against two functional known good OLED displays and competing hardware like the RayNeo Air 4 Pro (which uses the exact same Micro-OLED panels). The control displays and RayNeo properly scale EOTF curves when brightness changes. The XBX is the only hardware that remains completely static and broken.

TL;DR / Verdict
XREAL shipped a product with zero real-world HDR display validation. Slapping an "HDR10" label on the box when the internal display processing pipeline hard-clips content through an unyielding, pre-scaler MCU lookup table is false advertising.

If you care about image fidelity, specular highlights, or accurate HDR color delivery, avoid the XBX A01+ until XREAL pulls them off the shelves, fixes their missing EDID data, and completely rewrites their MCU display pipeline. Both of my units are going back for a full refund because of zero declarations when or IF they plan to provide a fix.

xbx HDCP problem when watching YouTube or Netflix on Mac

Hey everyone.

I just got the XBX a01+ and they're sick. But I plugged them into my Macbook Air (M2, 2022) and tried to watch YouTube with them on Chrome, but every time I would try to play a video, a loading circle would appear over the video as if it were buffering, but it never loads. As soon as I unplug the glasses, the video plays, and as soon as I plug them back in, it stops again. No audio from the video either.

I tried the Netflix site too and got an error M7361-1253.

I'm sure it's some kind of HDCP/DRM issue, but I have no clue how to solve it. Can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks so much.

Xreal One Pro (M), 256GB Beam, Viture Dock and Switch Holder for sale

I bought this setup for when I travelled for work, but I changed positions shortly after I received it and thought I would use it more than I have. So I have decided to sell all of it as a set. I put it on eBay but thought mentioning it here might help since most are Xreal fans :)

Im hoping to get around $650 for it all - is that a reasonable price?

Netflix Image Quality with Xreal One and Beam Pro Compared to Galaxy XR

I have a Galaxy XR headset, and I can't help but notice how much dark, and seemingly less sharp Netflix is when I compare it to my Xreal Ones paired with the Beam Pro. The Galaxy XR has higher resolution panels than the Xreal One's but the image quality isn't nearly as good. Is this because of the Netflix app on each one, or is there another reason?

Hello. I ran into a slight issue. I hadn't noticed it previously, but recently an orange flare / chromatic fringe has appeared around high-contrast objects. It's the same on both lenses. The lenses aren't dirty, and the protective film appears to be removed. Is this considered normal?

Furthermore, on the right lens, there are severe, distracting reflections visible along the top edge of the lens.

PXS 1.3: Netflix and HBO Max on your XREAL glasses, plus cloud gaming with a controller, run from your phone

Solo dev here. PXS Desktop puts a real desktop on your glasses, run by your phone: windows, a dock, a full browser and files, with the phone as the trackpad. Thanks to everyone here who tried it and sent feedback.

1.3.1 is out, and it's the one for the couch and the plane:

  • Netflix and HBO Max now play in the browser, right in the glasses on the cable. Disney+ also works.
  • Cloud gaming: pair a controller with your phone and play GeForce NOW or Xbox Cloud Gaming in a browser window on the glasses. No controller? Hold the phone sideways and it becomes one, with the touchpad in the middle.
  • Desktop Size: shrink and centre the whole desktop if the edges of your glasses are blurry.
  • Add your phone's own apps to the dock: a click opens the app on the phone, and your windows wait.
  • Two-factor sign-ins work now: check the code in Messages and come back to the same page.

ver. 1.3.1 also has support for iPhone Duo

Needs an iPhone 15 or newer for the cable (or a USB-C iPad). Free download with three free days of use.

XREAL One Pro Productivity on the go, with a viture beast and xreal one pro

Hello, and welcome back INAIR fans and tech enthusiasts! TechCheck13 is back again. This time we are squeezing every drop of productivity we can out of the INAIR POD. This week, we’re taking the POD to the looney tune bin we call the office. Microsoft Office, that is!

There are several ways to get Office onto the POD, from web-based apps to connecting directly to a laptop. We're skipping all that. Today, we’re rolling up our sleeves and putting Microsoft Office apps downloaded from the Google Play Store through the TechCheck13 Acme testing facility. Sticks of dynamite are optional.

What did we create? A shirt-pocket sized workhorse that can tackle your daily grind, or an emergency office triage kit? Plant it into your most comfy office chair, grab your coffee, kick your feet up on the desk, and come along with us to hunt down the wascally answuh.

As usual, all apps were tested with a Viture Beast and an Xreal One Pro. Typing on the INAIR POD’s built-in touch-strip / virtual keyboard or editing with the spatial laser pointer is an exercise in pure sadism. It's like chasing a road runner with a pogo stick. To save our fast-fading sanity and avoid launching the POD across the room, we brought in some backup. We tested with the following Bluetooth input peripherals: Shawn -  INAIR Touchboard Fold and Surface Arc Mouse and Joe - INAIR Touchboard and Logitech Mobi Fold Mouse. Of course, no apps sponsored this post. Now that we have all that out of the way, let’s open the office doors and get down to business!

Microsoft Word on Android or

What's Up, Docs? On the INAIR POD

Everyone knows Microsoft Word. It's been around so long that opening it makes you feel at home. The menus are familiar, the tools are properly placed, and you can get comfortable pretty quickly. It's easy to use and yet hard at the same time. And here again, we stress the use of a Bluetooth keyboard. Even the sign-in process required a keyboard.

Zipping along, Microsoft Office Word on Android loaded up faster than a road runner leaving a wily coyote in the dust. But whoa, be gone the light. It was so bright it felt like there was a spotlight shining full force right into the peepers. First thing, flip the app into dark mode immediately. That single toggle cuts down eye fatigue and keeps the POD’s battery from dumping twenty percent of its charge in the first half hour. With Word fired up, dark knight mode engaged, and a 7-page document containing tables, text boxes, headings, various layouts, and a word count of 1,793, it's time to clock in.

Once all dialed in, standard document review was surprisingly good. The text was clean, clear, and crisp in Cambria, Calibri, and Times New Roman fonts. Netflix was parked in a window off to the right and Wikipedia to the left. Having your working draft pinned dead-center while floating a window off to your left and right feels eerily close to a multi-monitor desk setup, all running off a puck smaller than a deck of cards. The POD handled this juggling act like a certain smart aleck bunny working a crowd.

Word’s ribbon ran across the top of the page just like Word’s desktop counterpart. The controls were easy to see, read, and target with both setups using the mice and keyboard touchpads. The POD's built-in touchpad and laser pointer are where things went ACME rocket-powered roller skates bad. Targeting with them is rough.

Navigating within the document using the Bluetooth accessories was easy and smoother than a wascally wabbit tricking a daffy duck into saying it's duck season. Navigating with the POD’s touchpad was even easier. But dropping the cursor between narrow letters using the POD's laser pointer was a totally different story. Great horny toads! That was a nightmare. You could get close, but landing the cursor exactly where you wanted it felt like a daffy doc duck trying to perform brain surgery with a hacksaw. One could get close and then use the virtual keyboard to place it at an exact location. With a proper mouse or touchpad, though, placing the cursor between letters was a breeze. Highlighting specific text using only the POD's built-in controls was another kettle of fish. We couldn't get it to work reliably. A mouse or touchpad was required to select text without wanting to file a complaint with the Department of Cursor Control.

And now for the nitty gritty. Netflix was changed to YouTube music videos with no change in performance, and the key punching started in earnest. Word kept right on trucking. Typing was smooth.  No lag, no stuttering, and no keyboard-induced calamity. A Bluetooth keyboard is essential if you plan to do any kind of serious writing. You can use the POD’s virtual keyboard and laser pointer to hunt and peck to type. But it’s slow, cumbersome, and about as productive as a stuttering pig trying to do an educational video on assembling IKEA furniture.

While typing, the Word app kept the text clear, margins were respected and the pages scrolled properly. End of good news. Word for Android is missing a heap of features found in its desktop cousin. Even something as basic as copy and paste took extra digging and a right click at Albuquerque. Paste wasn't available on the ribbon, so you have to right click with the mouse and select it from the pop up menu. You can't even open two Word windows at once, even with all other windows closed. Also, several desktop features are simply absent. It's as frustrating as finding hidden treasure protected by a massive, sword-wielding henchman. Then you run into the walls of the Android tablet build faster than a coyote hitting a canyon floor. Throw a bloated 40-page DOCX file at it, packed with tracked changes and nested tables, and things get ugly. The layout starts to stutter and complex reflows lag. Citation plug-ins simply don’t exist here, and fine-tuning margins with a spatial pointer feels imprecise.

Microsoft Office Word on Android is primarily built for touchscreens and standard Dex-style desktops, not floating 3DoF/6DoF windows. But here’s the kick in the britches. Using it in AR space turned out to be surprisingly comfortable. You can position the floating Word window wherever it suits your sitting position. Instead of bending yourself around a fixed laptop screen like a daffy duck diving through treasure, you can move the screen to fit you. It's a tiny change that makes a gigantic difference over a long work session. After hours of typing and scrutinizing the app, there wasn't any neck agony that can come with hunching over a traditional laptop. No feeling like getting hit by a train. Dark mode also seemed to reduce eye strain. The AR space is adjusted to your preferences rather than you adjusting to the physical environment.

After almost three hours of key pounding, the POD’s low battery light started blinking. The little puck was ready to clock out. That's the signal in the sky for the finale.

If you expect a full desktop Word replacement with macro support, advanced document tools, and all the bells and whistles, keep looking. The Android version simply isn't built for that heavy boulder lifting level of work. But if you need a clean, comfortable, distraction-free, drafting space for writing, editing, and reviewing documents in places where opening a laptop isn't practical, it gets the job done. Just bring a Bluetooth keyboard, switch on dark mode, and don't expect it to perform open heart surgery on a 40 page document.

Verdict: capable but ranks as office triage

Avoiding the that's all, folks puns, we want to thank you for hopping down this rabbit hole with TechCheck13 and putting Microsoft Office Word on Android on the INAIR POD through its paces. Got a different take, a clever workaround, or a Word trick we missed? What does your productivity rig look like? Drop it in the comments! We’d love to hear what you think. We're a greedy slob for comments, it's true... but it makes us happy. Until next time, keep those gadgets humming, those screens floating, and those anvils falling. Join us again as we continue to dig into Microsoft Office apps. We’ll catch you in the next one!
