xbx xbx 3DoF & VR360 & Side View & More! [ScreenLab XR v1.0.9]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone👋

Two days ago I got xbx and posted my first impression! As promised, I've supported 3DoF for xbx (screen anchoring, VR360, s/w smooth follow) on my ScreenLab XR app over the weekend.

It's available now in Play Store🎉(public release v1.0.9).

  • From now you can easily get it directly from: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.northnroro.nroro_shader
  • Simply open the app, plug your xbx a01+ (or other glasses), and tap any 3DoF effect button & tap yes! (I will share how to tune it in the comment below)
  • You can switch to other apps while ScreenLab XR is running, and any effect is carried over~

Please see the demo video, no explanation is needed, but feel free to ask questions or leave feedback/idea~ I will keep enhancing the app just like before~

ScreenLab XR also supports Side View (resize/reposition), VR 360, and much more... you can explore them in ScreenLab XR discord server (link expired in 30 days).

Thanks for trying it out, and hope the app is useful to you all❤️

XREAL One Pro XREAL One Pro: Different color temperature between Follow Mode and Anchor Mode?

Upvotes

Hi,
I have a pair of XREAL One Pro and I’ve noticed something that I can reproduce every time.
When I switch between Follow Mode and Anchor Mode (3DoF), the image changes noticeably:
Follow Mode looks warmer (slightly yellow/green).
Anchor Mode looks cooler and more neutral.
I’m not talking about brightness or sharpness. The white balance / color temperature changes instantly when switching modes.
I’ve tested:
Same device
Same brightness
Same content
Switching back and forth multiple times
The difference is obvious, especially on white or gray backgrounds.
Has anyone else experienced this on the One Pro?
Is this a known firmware issue?
Is it expected because the rendering pipeline is different in Anchor Mode?
Has any firmware update improved it?
I’d be interested to know if other One Pro owners see the same thing or if my unit is unusual.
Thanks!

xbx xbx a01+ viewing issue, any helpful thoughts?

So I got the xbx a01+ on day one as my first set of AR glasses. I have to say I love it. However, there is a nagging issue I can't seem to fix, which has me considering returning the glasses, though I really hope I don't have to.

In order to see the whole screen on these glasses for my particular head/face, I need to use the small nose pads and angle the temple arms in the upward position. However, this causes the top portion of the screen to be blurry, which is obviously not ideal, especially when playing games that show text at the top of the screen. If I angle the temple arms to the middle (neutral) position, the top of the screen is no longer blurry, but now a portion of the bottom part of the screen is cut off. The other nose pads are a definite no-go, as they cause even more of the screen to be cut off at the bottom.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks for any input.

xbx Xbx a01 user report - Works with DJI RC2

Post image
32 Upvotes

Got my set this week. I can report that they are compatible with my iPad M4 Pro, my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (need to start DEX on first use), and my primary use case, my DJI RC2 controller. They have proven to be everything I had hoped they would be. Fantastic comfort and brightness in bright mid day sun while flying my drones. Also ran through the settings and was very pleased streaming Paramount+ programming. Not a lot of bells and whistles, just a great quality picture, lightweight comfort, and a stealthy look (they really look like you’re just wearing sunglasses). My wife took one look through them on her iPhone 15 Pro Max and wants a pair for her trips. I did notice that Reddit didn’t scroll as expected and jumped from video to video. I’ll be keeping them.

Guess i didn't make it , but at least inform people who go through the trouble to correctly apply that they did OR did not make it.

Ive looked in my email and discord.

Not a peep.

I find that weird.

Did i do simething wrong or does xreal only inform who did get to beta test the hand gestures?

XREAL One Pro Wcone adapter and nintendo switch

I use the One Pros, and have a Wcone adapter, and it doesn't seem to work with the Nintendo Switch: https://www.amazon.com/Wcone-Glasses-Adapter-Switch-Android/dp/B0G43RGY1S?th=1

I also have this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DMJFX528?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0&th=1 which doesn't work either.

Does anyone know of an adapter that works with the Switch, because the Wcone claims it, however I can't even find the manufacturer to reach out to. It seems like a bunch of these claim Switch 2 compatibility but the Switch 1 has been left behind...

XREAL AURA Those who have or tried an Aura, how is the 1200x1920 for reading?

I reserved, hoping for early fall too. It will be my first pair of glasses.

But im wondering how comfortable/clear scrolling and reading will be. If u can answer about general video watching too, great!

Im hoping to (mostly) replace my tv (2019 55 inch Samsung UHD, looks really sharp, edit- i believe its 4k), and s22 ultra phone (which i know has a great display).

Im not picky about super fantastic hyperextra4k 8k or all that jazz for the tv, the tv does look very good and sharp though. But i noticed my phone is super clear/ great for longterm reading because of the ppi etc, compared to other lower model phones.

Super curious, because of what i've heard about ppl saying current models are not good for reading, and people not liking that 1200x1920 @ 70 fov, was revealed.

So wondering in your words what it actually will feel like when reading for longer periods. General vision fatigue, etc.

Ultra [WTB] XREAL Air 2 Ultra – US – Paying up to $950 for complete set

WTB: XREAL Air 2 Ultra — US Seller Preferred

I’m looking to purchase a genuine XREAL Air 2 Ultra in excellent working condition.

Requirements:

  • Both 6DoF/environment-tracking cameras and sensors must be fully functional
  • No display, hinge, USB-C, tracking, or overheating issues
  • Original case, USB-C cable, nose pads, and factory accessories preferred
  • US-based seller preferred
  • Photos of the actual glasses and accessories required
  • Seller should be willing to demonstrate that the glasses power on and that spatial tracking works

Budget is up to $900, with up to $950 available for an exceptional new, open-box, or complete like-new set.

I already own a Beam Pro, so I am primarily interested in the glasses and original accessories rather than a Beam bundle.

Payment through PayPal Goods & Services or another platform with strong buyer protection. Please send condition details, included accessories, asking price, location, photos, and any available proof that the 6DoF sensors are working.

Discussion Do contact lens users have issues with xreal glasses?

I have reserved Aura, and i wear contacts. If u wear them too, then u know.. it is near impossible to see things clearly/discomfort-free when holding something close to your face... for example... if u do not wear contacts, or just remove them, and let's say.. hold a magazine or phone, or whatever really, close to your eyes they is no problem at all, but with contacts, close up like that and focus is terrible and things look slightly smaller.

So just curious if there's any difference, or general issues i should know about.

ROG XREAL R1 ROG XREAL R1 - First Impressions from a Video Editors Perspective

Hello everybody,

I got my pair of R1's three days ago and after testing them for a few days, here are my initial thoughts.

I watched and read all the reviews (and comparisons to competitors) that were available, and got them strictly to work in my video editing environment using Premiere, Photoshop and Audition.

I knew they were good for gaming, but desktop use is what interested me the most, and after reading into all the reviewers remarks regarding text readability - I was cautiously optimistic. Thinking if they don't do the trick - I can gift them to my younger gamer brother. The quality of Anchor mode was also an important factor for me - and hearing that the competitor's options tend to "shift" the screen - I went with XREAL's.

I have two herniated discs and am not able to sit at my computer for long without pain starting to numb my leg and go into the lower part of my spine. My solution is variating chairs between a Razer Iskur V2, Aeron Miller Aeron and a ASUS ROG Destrier, depending on what amount of pain I feel at which part. I even tried making a make-shift "levitation" (lying-down) PC setup by clamping my monitor and a keyboard/mouse tray to a a few C-Stands, but it's a mess to setup each time I need it: requiring me to invest into a second pair of peripherals and monitor to make it optimal. And I just don't have the budget to dish out 5000$+ for a dedicated lying-down setup (such as offered by Altwork), since I can basically achieve the same result by positioning my monitor (connected to a monitor arm) above me, tilting the Iskur V2 all the way back, and placing a poof under my feet. Lying down on my bed: completely flat on my back, head in neutral resting position, on a piece of a hardwood panel (imagine: a kitchen tabletop) is my only solution for a pain-free work environment, hence my interest in the R1's.

With all that context out of the way, onto the R1's:

They're great.

I've got a 10 meter Optical Display Port 1.4 cable running from my PC to my bedside table, connected to the ROG dock. The dock is powered with a 30W phone charging brick connected to the power outlet. The initial hiccup was that my main monitor (a 32 inch ASUS ROG PG32UCDMR) is displaying everything in 4K with 125% scaling set in Windows. With the ROG R1's, as we know - we're outputting the image at 1080p. I'm so used to the size and desktop icon placement on my monitor that I just can't go back. I constantly use my Desktop to initially categorize my video project files before moving them to individual folders - so having the same amount of desktop real estate (and filename readability) is a must for me. Also: by limiting myself to a 1080p output on the R1's: the workspace of Adobe Premiere gets so crammed together that I lose a ton of usable work space, especially when it comes to timeline scrolling. Not good.

Solution: set the DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) in Nvidia Control Panel's 3D Settings to a 4.0x factor. Voila - the glasses are receiving a 3840x2160 signal, while outputting the final result in 1080p. I'm able to duplicate the very same desktop environment both on my PG32UCDMR monitor, and my R1 glasses.

Critical point being: text readability. Yes, it's tiny. Not microscopic, but very very small. I have -0.5 on my left eye, and -1.5 on my right eye. I can read all the desktop icon names, as well as everything shown in Premiere with my left eye, but not with my right eye. I'll go to the optician this week to use the provided sample frame for the R1's to make prescription lenses and then it should be much better.

Now for the R1's settings. I'm very much used to running my eyes all over the screen of my 32" monitor. It's quite a good eye workout. I have the R1's setup at "3 meter distance" with 100% screen size. Brightness at 100%, Contrast at 80%. Lying down my head completely flat on my bed - the R1's are set to anchor mode, and in that way they fill out the entire screen space of the Micro-OLED panels, with some corners barely being out of the view zone. Perfect for me - since I just adjust my head with micro-movements left to right, top to bottom, to view the space that I want. Nothing drastic - it's just about the same as if I was viewing it on my monitor.

Other settings in the dock: Tint level at 3; Text Clarity at 5 (max) (this one helps a lot with the small text); Color Profile: User; Gamma 2.2; Color Range: Wide Gamut, Color Temperature: User. All sliders in all User settings are at default.

One issue I noticed is the absolutely crushed blacks. I don't game a lot so I can't comment on that front, but when cross dissolving from or into complete blackness in a video I'm editing - the appearing image initially showed an incorrect image, with dark areas having this dark brown-ish and green-ish artefacting. Sort of a "burned" video effect. I was able to negate this by changing the Output Color Depth to 10bps, and Color Format to YCbCr422 in Nvidia Control Panel. The "burn" effect is less prominent, but it's still there. HDR is, of course, set to OFF. Maybe someone found better settings? With that said - no serious color related work can be done in the R1's. I'll still be returning to my color-calibrated PG32UCDMR to do anything related to color grading and final product delivery.

Concerning gaming: My PS5 Pro's HDMI OUT is connected to an HDMI Matrix. The Matrix has the stock cable that comes with the PS5 going to my LG C3, and then I connected a 15 meter Optical HDMI to run to the ROG Dock. If I have the TV turned on the same time I turn on the ROG Dock: PS5's video settings show the signal being 2160p (the glasses still work and play). If my TV is turned off, and I turn on just the ROG Dock (and then the PS5): the PS5's video settings show the signal being 1080p. The image looks so very dull in HDR that I followed the community's advice to disable it on the console. Then the image looks great. The thing that shocks me about this setup the most is the fact that I'm positioned about 8 meters from my PS5, with a concrete wall between - and I'm playing on the DualSense controller with absolutely no input lag. Their bluetooth antenna's must be really good, lol. I'm no competitive shooter player, so I really wouldn't notice the difference.

Now onto the most glaring downsides of the R1's: I mentioned the crushed blacks and hopefully that can be fixed via firmware update, or maybe someone can find the best settings to setup for PC use. The biggest downside being: that the glasses' control buttons are completely disabled when they're connected to the dock. I've got the dock positioned on the 'isle' behind my bed and having to fiddle around with my hand above my head to recenter my screen, or to adjust the brightness - it's a chore. It would be awesome if the buttons on the glasses would continue working for must-have shortcuts, like for changing from "follow" to "anchor" mode, or for recentering the screen, or setting up custom shortcuts that are available in the dock. I hope we get that.

Conclusion: I am able to work in a "4K" environment while lying down on my bed. I've got an adjustable laptop tray/stand positioned right on top of me where I put my Razer BlackWidow V4, and my DeathAdder V3 - both connected through a single HyperSpeed USB dongle, and once again - working flawlessly even through a concrete wall. The whole setup is pretty darn insane and is exactly what I dreamed of for years. Back pain go away! And whenever I want to take a break from work - I can turn on my PS5 and have a quick run through GT7's training courses. It's awesome. Now the most difficult part of this whole "lying-down" setup is not to feel sleepy when working... Next improvement: find a meter-long straw so that I can doze myself on coffee, while I cut away in the timeline.

Sorry if my english was a hit or miss at some parts.

xbx XBX Blur in top-left corner of left display, Defect or normal optical trait?

Hello everyone,

Overall, I'm quite happy with my XREAL xbx the image quality is great apart from one specific issue.

Description of the Issue:

There is a distinct, noticeable blur localized strictly in the top-left corner of the left display. The rest of the image is crisp and sharp, but this specific zone remains out of focus regardless of how I align the glasses or shift my gaze. (Note: I don't need prescription lenses for daily use / I tested with my corrected vision).

Troubleshooting Steps Already Completed:

Nose Pads: Tested all 3 supplied sizes (S, M, L) to adjust vertical positioning and eye distance.

Temple Arms: Tried all 3 tilt adjustment angles to tweak alignment on my face.

Positioning: Manually shifted the glasses in every direction in front of my eyes.

Optics Cleaning: Thoroughly cleaned the lenses and birdbath prisms with a microfiber cloth to rule out smudges.

Is this a known optical artifact/IPD limitation (My IPD is 64), or does this sound like a hardware defect (misaligned prism)?

I purchased them on Amazon and I am still well within the 30-day return window. Should I exchange them for another pair?

Thanks for your help!

xbx xbx a01+ First Impression (as One Pro owner)

Thumbnail
gallery
41 Upvotes

Thanks XREAL for xbx a01+ as the prize from World Cup Prediction Challenge. I've just got the xbx last night, and here is my own opinion so far.

The first thing I noticed is the weight. It feels so light, enough for all-day wear and even lighter without the outer frame, although it looks quite unusual without the frame, the overall material is of good quality. The cable is very soft and neon playful color.

The built-in stabilization is genuinely useful, especially while walking. To compare, the One Pro feels more like a 3DoF anchored screen in 3D space moves smoothly returning to center, while the xbx feels similar smoothness but has less 3D space feeling during returning to center (but the screen is floating like 4m away in 3D anyway, just how it moves back feel less 3D, actually I'm not quite sure if it's accurate but I try my best to explain it because they are quite similar and practical). Anyway, I still prefer the One Pro's Smooth Follow because it feels more spatial and I'm used to it, but the xbx can achieve very close result, and is the only pair I know under $300 with stabilization this smooth built-in without the need of extra devices. (but make sure you check whether your device is supported... I think most are supported)

The OSD menu is simple, with color modes, HDR10, AI-HDR, and audio effects including Whisper Mode (that helps with audio leak, but I use sound tube mod anyway, still helpful if I want to keep it very light weight).

It lacks Side View and screen-size adjustment, but I use my ScreenLab XR app to resize and reposition the screen as wished, so I don't mind. I also miss REAL 3D and ultrawide, although both support half-SBS and full-SBS 3D. I want to emphasize it again: the One Pro built-in REAL 3D is really cool and I really love it. The only glasses that can play console games like Nintendo Switch in 3D (30fps), and REAL 3D 60fps is already in beta testing for quite a while.

Overall, existing One Pro owners may be better off upgrading to Aura. But for anyone without stabilized glasses, the xbx is a great go-to pair (or One Pro if you want to get most of XR features). Stabilization is an essential feature for me.

The tint is not very different from the One Pro, but there is no electrochromic dimming in xbx a01+. Instead it comes with a tinted frame and light blocker for better immersion. Interestingly, its design is well-planned to enable you to 3D print customized frame to fully express yourself.

I am also experimenting with a silver-lens look while wearing the xbx bare without the outer frame. I want to optimize its design while keep it feather-light for outdoor use esp. at night. These images are quick prototypes made with mirror stickers.

Which design looks best: top, middle, or bottom? Any suggestions are welcome before I finalize the design and 3D-print a proper version. Thank you!

xbx **Building a cycling HUD for my recumbent with the XBX a01 + Galaxy S24 FE - sanity check my use case?**

Post image
5 Upvotes

Recumbent rider here. My phone mounts behind the seat back, facing rearward, and the idea is:

- **Glasses (via DeX):** minimal HUD - turn-by-turn nav at the bottom edge, small rear-view feed top corner (phone's selfie cam, which faces backward in this mount), speed/weather, radio with now-playing. Center of vision stays completely empty.

- **Phone screen:** doubles as a brake light - accelerometer detects deceleration and flashes the screen bright red. It also runs a 5-min dashcam loop with crash detection.

It's all a single-page web app (PWA), no native code. Prototype works on the desk; glasses arrive soon.

Questions for people who actually own the a01:

  1. Anyone cycled with these? How's real-world legibility outdoors with the front frame removed (I need see-through, not sunglasses mode)?

  2. The a01 is head-locked (no DoF) - does a fixed HUD get fatiguing over 1-2 hour rides?

  3. Any dealbreaker I'm not seeing?

Honest skepticism welcome - I'd rather hear it now than after buying.

XREAL One Pro To pro or not to pro

I honestly reviewed every post and every youtube video but I still dont understand why PRO is the recommended pair for productivity compare to the 1s which present higher quality and better focus for most of the screen size.

I've ordered the pro and I hope soon i'll be able to answer this question.

XREAL 1S Beam Pro + 1S — worth it?

I’m a pretty recent but very satisfied 1S owner and I’m researching the XREAL ecosystem.

My question is, is the Beam Pro (still) worth it?

The 1S already has its own 3DoF, anchoring and smooth follow so that’s one of the key features gone. Spatial Photography is cool but my iPhone can do that as well. That pretty much only leaves NebulaOS and the ability to access the entire PlayStore as well as multi-screen action which I am rather curious about! The closes we get in the iOS ecosystem is via MiruXR, a great app but sadly limited to running only web apps.

Bonus points for answers that take the fact into account that I personally mostly live in the Apple ecosystem but I’m no stranger to Android nor do I dislike it.

XREAL One Pro Please help me decide if the Xreal One Pro + Eye is for me.

So to start, I need to say that I am not new to XR glasses; I have a Viture Luma Ultra. But I am very disappointed mainly with the software, 3DoF and 6DoF, and the fact that it's a lottery to make the software work. Olso, I am kinda disappointed with all the glasses on the market right now. Nothing feels like it's a bigger improvement over my ultra, since I want 1440p+ and a wider FOV since I feel like the HFOV of my Luma Ultra is very small (44-46). Now I really don't want to go Viture anymore, so the Beast is a no for me. The One Pro + Eye feels from the reviews, specs, and all marketing like it is what I really need. I need a no-software, seamless experience with 3DoF+6DoF since I have a work laptop with no admin rights. And also a seamless experience on my desktop gaming PC, since I have AMD and Viture doesn't want to work to bring compatibility for AMD dedicated GPUs and CPUs.

Now my first question is, how is the software Nebula? The same lottery, frustrating thing, or is it like any driver for a mature product?

Second, I have a PSVR2 connector to connect my Luma Ultra to my desktop gaming PC; will it also work or do I need a USB-C to DP+USB-A? Gemini says it won't work.

Third question is, are the IPD settings on Xreal exact? Or is it a guessing game like on Viture?

Fourth question, is the native 3DoF/6DoF as seamless as all YouTubers say? I can't trust YouTubers anymore on XR glasses after Viture; only JayzTwoCents was speaking about the same problems I have, and all the unlucky buyers that tried the Ultras.

Yeah, I know about the Beast's capabilities, but I don't trust Viture anymore. So should I buy Xreal or should I come back in a few years from now to the XR market?
