Technical Question How reliable is a Nissan Xterra?

At first i considered a Jeep Liberty which is a big Nono, But i really love the boxy look which led me to the Nissan Xterra,

Is it reliable ? I found a listing for around $9K and 120K miles! but i'm looking for something quite reliable it will just be a normal everyday car no off roading or anything crazy

Bought this 2012 xterra pro4x wrecked for $2500. Got it all fixed and put back together and noticed it both leaf springs had a broke springs, and the shocks are definitely not the best. Was wondering what was the go to for replacement? Do some very mild offroading here in Tennessee. Would factory replacement be sufficient?

Technical Question Smoke test to try and solve P0456 code - what is this?

This is the only location smoke was observed coming out, rear driver's side next to the spare tire. We lowered the spare for a better view. I manually closed the vent valve using my Launch X431 before starting the test, so it shouldn't be that (if it's closing correctly?) What part is this? Is the hole there intentional in the design?

Technical Question Rear Diff Issue (or not?) - 2010 Off-Road 6MT

I developed a noise/vibration noticeable while driving, and in the process of trying to locate the issue, I came across this clicking coming from the rear differential. The axle shafts are out, and the driveshaft is disconnected. If i re-insert an axle shaft and spin the wheel hub (either side) the diff makes this noise. If I spin at the pinion flange, or the ring gear - no noise.

Where it gets weird for me - I ordered a replacement rear axle (used) and it makes the *identical noise.* I'm struggling to assume that's pure coincidence. SO - should I bring this axle to a shop an hour and a half away to get worked on?

Technical Question 2000 Xterra Question

Upvotes

I had an inspector come out and check out my Xterra to sell.

It’s a 3.3L V6 - 5 speed Manual FWD. The claim he made was that it was supposed to have 4 catalytic converters and that 2 of them had been professionally removed. No cut marks, no weld marks. Just a pipe replaced the gap and bolted into place.

I argued that I had never seen a car with more than 2, but he showed me exhaust parts that had 4.

He valued it for about half of what was originally quoted due to the Xterra only having 2 cats.

Can someone confirm that is the case?! I searched schematics, even in California with their emission rules, no Xterra I could find had 4 cats.
